I think something that really needs to be said is that the cinematography for this show is awesome. It has a very filmic look with a great, dark, color pallete. It's a nice change of pace from your typical Hollywood sitcom.

How do ratings work? Does me DVRing or watching on direct tv count toward anything? I thought I read they can't monitor and they use a sample? Well, they can count the number of hulu views can't they?

Most of the time I buy box sets years after they go off air. This is the first time I'm watching multiple shows weekly. I want to help keep the ratings up..

Unless things have changed and I don't think they have -

Ratings are based on samples from Nielsen. People are selected at random to be a Nielsen family and theoretically if you get a big enough sample it's good enough to extrapolate what the rest of the country is watching.

DVR / Internet views to come into play if a show is borderline (see Chuck and Dollhouse) last season.

So I took the leap and had a Community marathon tonight. Holy shit this show is unbelievably funny. :lol

And the last episode (Halloween / Day of the Dead) was incredible at the end holy fucking shit! :lol :lol :lol

Troubles at NBC have been pretty well documented this year and cheap comedies like this should have no problem getting a second season (including parks and rec).
