NBC's Community Official Thread - the next Arrested Development/Office/30 Rock?

My second favorite episode of the season, behind last week's episode. I'm liking the way the show is heading while GAF is hating. No surprise. Hah.

I thought it was one of the best Episodes so far, mostly thanks to the whole American Tail sub-plot and song montage.

Honestly, wasn't too crazy about this episode. Still funny though.

If there's no GIF of the Spanish prof assigning Jeff his last paper and dropping the mic at the end by tonight, I'll make it.
How do you guys make good quality gifs so easily? I've always wondered that.

Man I really wanted to know what Dean was watching on YouTube because that "I hope this doesn't awaken anything within me" thing was maybe the best non sequitur this show has ever had.

Having found the video, I wish it remained a mystery.

I do them on my Mac now, so it's a bit more of a pain. I open the episode in Quicktime, cut out the part I want, save it as a series of PNG images, run a Photoshop batch on the images to crop/resize, open the folder as frames in Quicktime, save as an uncompressed AVI, then open in Photoshop to lower the framerate and play with compression before saving as a GIF.

Turnaround time per GIF is about five minutes, most of which is spent waiting for Quicktime to seek through the HD file while getting the cutting done.

convert to .mov
open with Adobe Imageready
pick a chunk of the video
cut down frames/resize/crop

It's really simple.

Soooo this Jeff and Annie thing that was so strong two episodes ago and then no mention or anything of it the next. Found that to be weird.

While I'm somewhat surprised there's no Annie taking notes through the window.gif, I'm equally surprised there's been no commentary (that I've seen) on the "el Tigre" poster in Senor Cheng's office. 'Ya bit!

Couldn't help but laugh as soon as I realized that Abed and Troy were singing "Somewhere out There" to a rat. Named 'Fivel.' (I LOL'd before they even got to the name.) Very nice touch.

Presumably it was a one episode gimmicky joke and not a running thing because the age difference would be creepy if they pushed it.
Not that most of this thread would notice.

I wonder no more. I'll have to try this out sometime. Thanks.

I loved Jeff's response to Senor Chang's comment about being an excellent lover.

"You'd pretty much have to be."

That three or four second awkward pause before Chang started lauging was priceless. :lol

The episodes are being aired out of order, there's been tons of weird stuff like that, especially with the Jeff Britta dynamic being fairly schizophrenic.

Great episode, a bit weaker than previous but still this show is quality.

More Senor Chang is awesome, began to miss his antics...thanks for the new avatar yo!

I actually loved Senor Chang dragging Annie by the desk legs out the door personally and thought that would be giffed.

The song sounded oddly familiar, and I haven't watched An American Tail since I was a wee lad. Great montage.

Pearce's antics of randomly falling down are getting a bit tiresome, and I love Chevy.

The Annie fling.

I dunno if that counts or not, but Annie referred to Jeff as "handsome" hobo and I don't think she had ever described him as such before.

Personally I don't like the idea of dating in this group. Sexual tension is more entertaining than actually getting together.

Sweeeeet I'm gonna take this avatar. Thanks abq!

I always catch this show on Hulu the next day but then I'm LTTP for the GAF thread. :( Maybe I'll start watching it Thursday night although I'm still 3 hours behind on the west coast.

Anyway, one of my favorite episodes this season. Not very many sharp and witty moments, but the storylines were just flat out entertaining, and all the characters have amazing chemistry together. I definitely have this show above 30 Rock now and post-season 3 Office.

Decided I would power through the episodes after liking the Halloween one. Im done with the first 4 now. Really great little show. Its like The Office but actually funny and without the annoying characters who get more over the top as time passes.

I fully agree with this man.

I'm aware that this can happen from time to time, but did you read that information somewhere or is it an educated guess?
According to Wikipedia, episodes 4-6 were aired in reverse order.

I'm not going to argue the point, but it's incredibly silly to compare where a show is halfway through its first season and where another show is in season six.

Especially when the characters in this show are already pretty over the top.

Fair enough. Didnt really need to bring The Office up, and I wouldnt have if it werent so obviously the mold for every new sitcom on NBC in the past 3 years. But yes, its unfair to compare a fresh new show to one going through the motions in its sixth season.

Anyways, just finished powering through. Havent found a comedy show Ive liiked this much since Arrested Development. The characters and the writing are just working for me on every level, and I always have several moments each episode that have my sisdes aching with laughter.

"Just let me rest gently on your pecs" :lol

This show hit the ground running in its first season for a comedy. Not since Curb Your Enthuaiasm I had seen that.

Also, good Gillian interview, she is really growing on me.
