glad someone made a topic about it.
i was really into the show, i feel like im already hooked on it.
i was really pulling for manfredo and im pissed that gomez won. he just pisses me off for some reason. manfredo should have won that fight not sure what happened. it was almost like he was overwhelmed or afraid to win the fight or something.

This one episode was better than that whole crap fest that was on Fox. I liked every second of this show. They did a nice job making you root for both guys, Peter Manfredo Jr. because of his family, and his cute daughter, and then for "Fonzo" because of his heart.
My only issue is that it seemed like there was more than 5 rounds taped, and they took the best rounds and made them rounds 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. So I hope its not fixed in that they have all these rounds and then pick the best ones.
Anyway, great show, cant wait until Thursday, and then Sunday.

No they mentioned at the beginning of the show that it was only going to be 5 rounds at a time during the eliminations.
I can't believe Alfredo won, I mean I knew he would give fight but not win. Its all due to Manfredo jrs got tired from all that muscle, and did anyone notice the bruising on his arm? I'm guessing his body had the shape but not the strength.
Alfredo screwed up himself by getting too into his lil taunts and celebrations with the crowd, forget whats going on around you and BOX! Also for his height he needs to use his head a little more try to get a little bit of headbutts in there when he moves in.
Overall great show.

Great show, I was really surprised by it. I didn't watch the first 30min (24, duh), but I tuned in for the final hour and really got hooked into it. When the fight came, I was rooting for Gomez because nobody - his teammates, the other team, even Sly and Sugar Ray - thought that he was going to beat Manfredo... except Gomez himself, I guess. It was great television.
Be sure and watch it on Thursday, and then in its regular slot on Sundays!
One thing I noticed, though: the dubbing of Sly's voice into the show at certain points was really noticeable. It's like they barely made any effort at all to match it with the original voicework. Wonder if Sly flubbed a lot of his lines or something...

They dubb in lines for The Apprentice as well, but this year it seems like they are doing a better job at it. I did notice some of that with Sly, but it could have been that they felt by adding thos extra lines, it added to the overall value of the show, or the impact of what he was saying.

Supposedly it bombed.... NBC has a histroy of pulling struggling reality shows mid season when they don't produce the numbers they want, sometimes never even airing the final episodes.

Yeah really. Although I liked how they had build up both fighters. I wasn't sure who I wanted to root for, but then I went for the underdog in the end...but did they really have to show the shower scene where Manfradeo (I believe that's his name) was crying in the shower saying he's a failure, infront of his wife and daughter? Ahhh that was a bit much I think....but I felt for him.
Everytime I see Turpin on camera I can't help but feel a bit sad.

i thought the show was good until the fight actually started. they cut the actual fight up so bad, i had no clue what was going on. also, they had stupid slow motion effects and added a thump of bass on certain punches... it looked/sounded so retarded.
i will still watch the show, but i hope they can somehow show us all of the fight unedited, and without the dumbass sound effects. the problem is... if they do that, and routinely have 5 round fights... there will be almost no time for the actual show.
its strikingly similar to ultimate fighter, except with ultimate fighter, you actually get a feel for the guys. you get to see them in the house and you really start to pull for certain guys once you see their personalities. i was so excited when leben came back this week =]]] CATSMASHER!!! i really hope leben wins it all.
i couldnt wait for bobby fagworth to go home. i loved watching him whine like a bitch after losing the decision. and you saw his true colors when he bitched at dana after the fight. i hope josh k gets his ass handed to him soon too. they are both fucking shitheads. i realized this show was so great when i found myself screaming at the tv and flipping guys off, even though i know they can't hear or see me, i just can't help it. the show brings out emotion.
it's obvious that one of the shows copied off the other, since the challenges are so similar. two teams, a challenge, then the winner picks the fight, and the loser goes home. obviously ultimate fighter started airing before contender, but it would be interesting to know which show went into production first.

yeah Ishi bitched out big time. He was trying to make it sound like he was just worried about his team playing him, but you could tell he was pussying out big time. Ahmed is the shit though. I love when he talks trash. "I WILL KNOCK YOU OUT SO CRAZY!" :lol Thankfully this Sunday it looks like we finally get the Ishe/Ahmed matchup if the previews are anything to go by.

I think... this one's gonna be tough to call, but I'll say Ahmed is going to win the fight. Sure he's a complete ass, and he's too aggressive and cocky, but I'm not entirely convinced that Ishe's head is in the game right now.

What a great fucking fight. Best so far. I must say I wasnt a fan of either one of these guys. Ahmed I hated because all he did was spew shit out of his mouth and just disrespected everyone. Ishe I didnt care for because of what he did last week. But Damn, if they didnt put on one hell of a fight, and I am glad Ishe won. Even though, like I said, I didnt care for either one, I really couldnt stand to listen to Ahmed anymore. Now, if they had his fiance on more, then hell he could have stayed...

Yeah, I love this show, and everyone at my Boxing/Muay Thai gym loves it as well. Some good quality fights and a good depiction of what goes on in the profession form a insider perspective. I may be going out on a limb saying this but I honestly think this show is ther BEST thing that's happened to the sport in a very long time. Take away all the superstar and promotion crap and the boxers that everybody knows. And put together some top raw talent and let them battle it out in good clean match ups...I've been waiting years for something like this. If anything this show at least gets these guys some recognition and more people will pay attention to professional boxing like the days of old.
Your average person knows all the top guys (Roy Jones Jr., De La Hoya, Tyson, etc.). BUt nobody ever knows the other ranked guys until they get a shot. I thin kthis show will make more people get re-energzied in the sport (thanks to the Tyson/Don King carnival), and make more promoters seek out more raw talent. As you can see boxing is one of my favorite sports and I'd like to see it restored to it's former glory. And see some good fights instead of heavyweight, one punch knockouts.
Tonights show is on the Tivo, and I'll check it out tomorrow when I get home from the gym.

Umm I kinda blurred past the last few posts but I think (not sure) someone spoiled the outcome of the fight, Its barely on in the west coast but I feel Ahmed is going to win this fight so thats 1 loss for west

damn i wanted Ahmed to beat that bitch Ishe. I hate how the fights are cut and edited though. I don't need you to try and make some insignificant body punch look important by putting it in slowmo and playing Rocky music behind it. It also gives away the winners. you could pretty much tell from about the 3rd round on that Ishe was going to win because all the editing was really in his favor.

It's not so much that Ahmed's cocky as much as his true colors showed when he got in the ring. Ishe started stomping him and he started doing cheap stuff, throwing Ishe, landing low blows, landing cheap shots. He deserved to lose. As bad as Ishe acted last week, he atleast stepped up this week and fought a fair fight.
Peter or Jonathan deserved to be brought back next week. Ahmed's arrgoance isn't entertaining when you consider that he can't back any of it up.
