NDS Lite - 3 colors revealed

Why would you hold the DS like this?

Ebooks? :D

I'm not crazy about the fact that the hinge has the same matte finish as the inside of the system. Everything on the outside should be glossy.

Wow... That is the exact color of blue I wanted. That color of blue was the ONLY thing that would make me buy this DS Lite if it didn't have lots of extra functionality over the DS... I'm blinded by its perfection. So I must buy it. Stupid Nintendo reading my mind!

I hope they release accessories for the DS: Lite that are made for the small GBA Port.
Cause if I have Play-Yan on there, I don't want it sticking out.
Same with the rumble, or whatever other products they're doing.

Hoping for 3rd Party cell phone adapter, so I can use it as a cell.
Would be sweet dialing with the touch screen, then using a headset to talk.

Any word on screen quality?

Just tell me they're SP+/Micro quality and I'm sold, baby.

The lack of black saddens me, though. =\

It was already confirmed some time ago when the lite was first revealed that the screen quality would be at least of the same quality as SP+/Micro.

Well then, please excuse my silly question, while I tend to my massive erection.

Every Nintendo portable must have a flaw...well, except the backlit SP.
Mono speaker, headphone jack?

If Nintendo designers were clever, at the very least you should be able to stick another DS cart inside that end cap. That is if they were clever....
If the cap is 1 cm less than a GBA cart's height, I don't think such a thing would be possible in our 3 physical dimensions.

It sticks out one damn centimeter, damn guys. Hardly the end of the world or anything. It looks huge because those are close up photos too.
It's not that it will be an eyesore while using, but not having it be even all around could make it weird in the pocket. Certainly, though, this is nowhere near as bad as the way GB/C games stick out of GBA/SP.

But honestly a navy color that dark is so close to black that you'd really have to look at it to see a difference.
Yeah, this might be like Xbox's dark green.

Who plays GBA games on a DS anyway? Get a micro you losers![/quite]
While I do take around a GBM and DS, I'm pretty much in the top percentile of Nintendo whoredom.

Incidently, by removing the thumb stylus, Nintendo is admniting that those things DO scratch the screen.
That seems a bit of a leap.

they should have dropped the gba slot tho imo
Why why why why why?

What difference would it make? The size probably wouldn't have been affected since it seems they designed it first and put GBA support in later. And every game that utilized the GBA port would be worse in some way.

This 1cm thing is a weird thing indeed, though I haven' used GBA games in my DS for ages. AFAIC it's no big deal.

Wonder if they will release a new version of the Rumble pack though.

with a stack of new final fantasies coming out on GBA, nintendo would have to be completely braindead to drop GBA support at this stage. If you don't want it, just use the convenient plug they provide.

that navy blue one is damn hot though. and if i trade my old one, its dirt cheap too. i think i can live a week or three without a DS...

according to PlayAsia.com The Micro Charger doesn't work with the DSlite.
So importers beware!!
Japan and US both have the same power plug however.. so it's mainly europeans that have to think about this, and frankly, we're pretty used to use stepdown converters already.

If not, well.. then people can order one.

It's amazing how much better they managed to make the DS look. By comparison the original is just unsightly, not to mention the new model has multiple levels of brightness. Can't wait to see it hit retail shelves. I might try to import a pearl white one if it comes out too far out from the Japan launch here. I wanna slap RE: Deadly Silence in it so I can be graced by the best cheesy FMV and dialogue that 1996 has to offer.

I could not give less of a shit about the 1cm issue. The improvements in screen and form factor more than make this a worthy upgrade from the standard DS for me.

I'm nabbing a white PSP, a white DSL, a white Rev, a white x360 and a white PS3. Most black technology just looks crappy for a few years now, surprised it took iPod to really push black out.

Will look awesome as a set.

Am I the only one who thinks not having pink is a real bad idea? I mean chicks love things in pink. My girlfriend was dying to get her hands on this until she seen there was no pink, now she's torn between her original pink DS or the lite.

Can that AC charger be used in the states? [IMPORT PENDING]

yes of course
Japan uses the same power plugs as the US (adapter probably supports 100-110v 50/60hz ... ) Ninty never officially endorse usage overseas though.

btw, went to my local shop today and they said they will only get a few units, so no pre-orders accepted (Tokyo outskirt non-chain mom&pop store...)

Such a liar :P

From what I can tell the screens are identical, but the backlighting will be able to be set one notch brighter than the original DS release. This should make stuff look more colorful, but it'sll be no Micro screen.

Piano black has never been pushed out. White is so 2005!

In the past 2 or 3 years I struggle to think of a black piece of kit which has looked either must-have-sexy or better than a different coloured version.
