Whats the best RPG for someone who liked Tales of Symphonia alot and already has FFX?

I think many of the names are butchered when they get to the UK. I'm no RPG player but i need to get a gift fast.

Ya might give Star Ocean: Til the End of Time a whirl. You might like it.

If he likes FFX, Shadow Hearts Covenant would make a good choice. One of the better(best) jrpg this gen, imo.

Well she didnt think FFX was too special.

I think i will go with Dark Cloud 2. Sounds pretty cool.

edit: Nearly forgot:

Thanks everyone! :)

Holy Crap does any place have this in stock? :lol

Its also been named to 'Dark Chronicles' in the UK.

Scarlet - take it from another DQ fan, Shadow Hearts:Covenant is awesome :D

Radiata Stories would probably get the big recommendation if you enjoyed the more lighthearted aspects of TOS... Both RS and SH:C are great games, though. I'll also throw in BOFDQ here because I know the BOFDQ lovers are gonna be here any second so I want to one-up them :D haven't really gotten into it, but it may just be your cup of tea, and can be found for $15 or less (saw a brand new copy today at Circuit City for $15)

The only two PS2 RPG's I've played are Dark Cloud 2 and Shadow Hearts 2, and you really can't go wrong with either of them.

One is playful with a silly story but good music, excellent gameplay concepts, and a long quest.

The other is dark with an interesting story, good music, excellent art, and some beautiful fixed backdrops. The drawback is that it has random battles. But the battles themselves are fun and deep.

I was just asking the topic starter, in case he knew if it was any good or not to buy. :lol

Speevy, why are you making him guess which game is which? :lol

Gonna try find Dark Chronicles (Dark CLoud 2) second hand. I dont think Radiata Stories even had a UK release.

Is Dark Cloud 2 good?

I bought it for $9 brand new for a cousin (Xmas Gift) but all of you say its good.

Should I open it up and keep it for myself?

Yeah, as everyone else is sayingm you'd probably like Shadow Hearts Cov. :)

Shin Megami Tensei + DDS aren't available over in Europe, are they?

I would have said Growlanser Generations just so he could expand his horizons a bit, but it's not there, so Shadow Hearts: Covenant ought to be fantastic. It's by Midway, and it's set during WWI.

Nocturne is available over there, goes by a different name though.

If you liked Tales of Symphonia, I'd give Star Ocean a try, another pretty fun combat system, action based.

Also don't be afraid of FFX-2, it's actually quite fun once you get past the girly part;)

I like it a lot, but it definitely isn't for everyone. Also, it'll eat up a good amount of your time (took me over 100 hours before I finished it). If you don't have a lot of time to waste, you may want to skip it.
