So the wifi at my house is absolute dogshit with the router that was provided to me by my isp so I decided to buy the ASUS Rapture Gt-AC5300 router.

Only issue is I have fios TV and internet so the router I currently have has a coax cable plugged in for the TV guide and DVR. I've already purchased a coax/ethernet adapter but it won't be here until next Saturday.

How would I go about using the new router without sacrificing my TV usage for a week? I've read online that I can setup the new router as my primary and simply run an ethernet cable to the old router and that would keep the TV working just until I got the adapter.

Any advice or personal experiences from someone?

Dumb question but can’t you just go to the store and buy the adapter? And return it when the other one comes. Without waiting a week. Some routers work as repeaters. Not sure all do though
