Need Advice!! How can I steal $200 from a GAF member for heroin as soon as possible?

Bringing this thread back from the grave.

So I ended up lending this guy $200. He was supposed to pay it back 5 days ago and has so far ignored my PMs asking him about it.

I've got his full name, address, and home phone number, but I don't really know how that can help me get my money back.

Any advice?

And before you go telling me how I was asking for it and whatnot... Yeah, I'm naive and expect people to be good people. Luckily potentially losing this $200 won't bankrupt me or anything, but I mean, it's still $200 and I'd still love to have it back...

That 200 bucks is lost.
Let this be a lesson to you - don't give people money, because people are scum.

Sooner or later you'd have found out the true nature of man, so if it's any consolation it could have been a lot worse.

I mean, the dude was trying to be a good Samaritan...

The Good Samaritan never got his money back.

- Jew gets mugged and beaten and left for dead on the side of the road.
- The "right" people see him (Jews and Priests) and keep on walking.
- The "wrong" person (a Samaritan, who was supposed to hate Jews) comes along and sees a man dying in a ditch. Gives him first aid. Carries him to town. Then tosses the innkeeper some money, says "Get this man some help" and continues on his way.

All he got in return was a brofist from Jesus.

Oh wow, didn't expect this in this thread.

I mean, if you really want it back. The only way I see is if you have messages, and proof that you lent it to him. Take it to court. That's not worth $200 though. I very much doubt you'll get it back unless he has a change of heart. If he indeed was getting the $200 for drugs. You'll never see it again. I have experience with that.

I'm here now.

"I'm not looking for loans or donations from gaffers"

Probably best to just consider the $200 an illiteracy tax and move on.

The plot twist is that Kipp is actually the OP and now people are really feeling sorry for him and will give him more than 200$

(Just kidding, you're a good guy, maybe a little naif for giving a stranger $200 but your generosity far surpasses that)

Yeah thought that too. Would be clever and I wouldn't even be mad. Has two accounts, plans fake stories, bumps the thread, other people donate money... Would be good scam. :)

Edit:

Also what the fuck at the 200$ user. What is happening in here? lol

Who could hate such a great game. Never even thought of this.

you are a good person dude, know that.

Kipp you're a good dude. OP probably wasted it on whacky tobacky anyway and is now without electricity and soon to be out on the streets asking random people how to make money quickly.

But you! You're a good person Kipp.

Can someone post a link or tell me what happened with Amir0x?

Link?

Kipp, you got burned but at least you are in your position and not his. His debt and burned bridges are only going to grow if he does not get his addiction in check.
The threads are linked above but the gist of it is that he asked GAF for money to help with medical expenses, then a few days later said he had just purchased a shitload of drugs. I learned of it a few months ago when a user called him out on it and linked those same threads. Apparently he's quit doing drugs now, but I still think lesser of him, and even though I was not affected by it, I will never lend or donate money to private individuals on the Internet

Thanks for all the replies, guys. Sorry I don't have time to respond to most of you, but I appreciate your advice/encouragement/condolences.

Have the mods been contacted yet?

Nah. Not sure if I will or not. I wouldn't be contacting them for my sake, but I might in case it stops this same kind of thing from happening again with him.

how ever (and not to sound like I'm victim blaming), this could have been handled more discretely. I hope op is well and has a conviction of conscience to pay you back.

Posting in this thread was genuinely never about shaming the OP or anything like that. I gave it a bit of time to be handled discretely, but then when that didn't work I really did want advice on whether or not there was something I could do (and also find out if on the off chance somebody here had any kind of regular communication with the guy via PSN or whatever).

I'm here now.

Too good.

I actually was thinking about that plot twist and how insidious that would be. Haha

And that's why you always demand guarantees or exchange items.

Many people will say this goes against the ethics of being a good person - demanding a "hostage item" is apparently highly unethical and you should just trust the person giving you the full amount back.

This is where I call bullshit. If I have doubts the person will give me back what they owe me, I will demand something value ("similar" value) or importance in return until they pay back.

If they really need the help, they will gladly accept. If they don't, they were out to scam you.

It's the same with druggies that ask you for money to buy "a ticket home". How much is the ticket? They ask 2 bucks of you, the ticket costs 30.
"Alright, I won't give you money, I'll buy you your ticket home. Let's go."
Watch them walk away every single time.

For what it's worth, a GAFfer (who shall remain nameless unless he wants to be named) recently lent me a sum of money because I was in a tight spot. He did so without hesitation, and without any request for any sort of collateral or exchange of anything up-front. Just a "Sure I'll lend you the money, no problem, just pay me back when you can."

I fully intend to pay him back next month when I have the money, of course. And I know he knows that. But the fact that he was so willing to do it, without any question or doubt or reservation at all, was really awesome of him.

But, you know, there are some good people out there, and not everyone's looking to swindle everyone else >.>

Go to a bank, not the one you have a negative account in and apply for a credit card most cards give you 15 months to use without any interest. It is really t he best option you have.

While thinking about this whole deal, this Parks & Recreation quote popped into my head:

TOM: Well hindsight is 20/20.
LESLIE: Kind of seems like regular sight should have caught that one.

Maybe give him a chance, its only been a few days since the deadline.

OTHERWISE CALL HIS ASS.

It's been nearly a week.
But yeah, I probably should try calling. Although 1) I really don't want to make that phone call, 2) It's a home phone number, not his cell phone, so I might not even be able to reach him, 3) Calling him won't get my money back, so eh.

It might lead to getting your money back. Shit, try it
Pro tip: not today or tomorrow... surprise him
