If you want somethign witha strong female presence, might try Revolutionary Girl Utena. It's sure to play with your mind pretty well.

How did I forget about Champloo?

The first DVD is out on Tuesday. Hip-hop samurai action-comedy-drama from the director of Cowboy Bebop.

The first episode is pure sex. Opinions are mixed about how good the show is after that point (I personally love it), but almost everybody seems to be in agreement that the first episode just rocks way too much. :D

SOLD!

Yes 7 DVDs

Full Metal Alchemist is better, but a bigger investment, at 13 DVDs since its 51 episodes

Both are exceptional, though very different types of series. FMA is a much more plot-driven. It's moderately long and very complex. Because of its length, it will put you out quite a bit, though. 13 DVDs, compared to Champloo's 7. FMA is also a bit on the slow side to develop. It's pretty good early on, but it doesn't become tremendous until you hit the double-digit episodes.

So Champloo is perhaps the better immediate buy. Besides, FMA's first DVD isn't out until Feb. 8, so there's plenty of time between Champloo and FMA's releases to scrounge up the cash. :D
