Need for Speed Underground 2 - DS videos

Runs nice and fast, but the pixellation issue on the DS is really noticeable, to me at least. I find myself being increasingly disappointed with that. But NFSU has a nice frame rate and some good draw distance. I actually find myself interested in this game, despite my disdain for EA.

It'll obviously still be noticable, but I think it will be a lot less so on an actual DS screen. The nature oF LCD and the reduced surface area should ensure that.

Frame rate is all important as ever. Glad EA nailed it so well.

Now I'm really looking foreward to painting my own decals on my car!

Since this is like the third NSFU2 thread in as many days, I'll repeat the comments you will hear.

"Looks pretty damn good!"
"Yeah, for a DS game it looks pretty good." (And SantaCruZer hits the first one!)
"Hey, is that even special lighting!?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"Cool."
"Why would you get this game if you have a console or PSP?"
"Oh plz, in this one you can draw shit on your car." (radiohead hits the second one!)
"True. And plus you can rub your nitrous! Haven't you ever had the desire to rub your nitro?"
"Sure have, bob. That's my secret desire."
"Neat. Did you see the commercial? Looked pretty good as well."
"I said it before, and I'll say it again... the DS is capable of much more than people give it credit for."
"Haha, this looks so much better than Ridge Racer DS. I wonder why that is, that's the question!"
"The answer to that question is Ridge Racer DS sucks ass, and NST sucks ass. That's it in a nutshell."
"Hahaha, true. That was such a half-assed job they did."
"No doubt."
"*Nod*"

Indeed, it is good to see that EA didn't go with the GBA Plus idea.

Also, I think a big reason why NFSU2 here looks so much better then Ridge Racer DS (and not becuase NST sucks, they are if anything a rather uneven developer) it is because Ridge Racer DS was port of a port of a port, and secondly I suspect like many DS launch games, Ridge Racer DS was plauged by the using rushing issues, while NSFU2 has actually had a bit of time and indeed effort put into it. Sometimes it is better to wait lest we get something half-assed.

:lol :lol

Does this game actually have any sort of lighting model? It looks textured-on to me. Cars don't have their headlights turned on it would seem..

downloaded and had a look. Pretty neat if mostly for the robust looking physics engine for the race. If this was say $30 bucks vs a PSP Burnout 3 for $50. I'd still go out the latter. :D

I like it, it's probably the best looking DS game so far. Now if they include single card gameplay I will definitely get it.

you have no respect for 2d. KILL THIS INFIDEL.

There was some nasty poly warping in the garage screen, but it looks good in play. If i don't end up with a PSP, i'll definitely pick this up.

I thought the video quality was just crappy.

Nah, the video I download (INSIDER) is about DS screen size so I'd say its quite indicative. Maybe if you got the streamed / wmv format...
