First tragedy, then farce.
Ok, so I got a little portable media player thingy and I recorded some episodes of harvey Birdman with it.. but it saves them as MP200a000001.asf so I renamed the files, but somehow in doing so they lost their association as .asf files and wouldnt play at all. Which is wierd because I have a bunch of ATHF episodes I did the same thing with and they play just fine.

In any case, to remedy this problem, I decided to rename them to xxx.wma because Im dumb and thought that was the file type.. of course, they dont play as wma files because that isnt the right extention, and now I dont know how to change them back. any help?

Right click on file and Rename won't do the trick?

It helps if you turn off the 'hide known file types extension' in Windows explorer. Dumb as bricks default option that.

You are a god amongst men.. that default setting was the exact problem.. this is a relatively new XP install and I guess I never noticed it was doing that.. so when I went to rename the file again, I wasnt actually changing the extension I was just renaming it to xxx.asf.wma, whearas before it didnt have a known file type, so when I added .wma it actually changed the file association.
