Heh, I used to know this.

Two Windows XP desktop customization questions:

First: How do you change the color of the text on the desktop (below the icons, that is)
Second: How do you remove the little arrow from shortcut icons?
 
....and, oddly enough, this only allows for editing of selected icon color, weird.

And I'm not much a fan of that shadow on the text.

PLUS it doesn't show anything for removing the shortcut icon signifier.

Just go to ADVANCED dude ;)
 
Okay then. How about step by step instructions? Because right now I'm feeling really dumb.

1.) Display properties -> Desktop -> that little colored rectangle in the lower corner

2.) download TweakUI from microsoft.com.

3.) Shadows... Display properties -> Appearance -> GO TO ADVANCED DUDE

TWEAK UI. THAT WAS WHAT I WAS MISSING.
