My business partner is putting together a proposal, but it includes copyrighted material in it that we don't have the rights to. I told him that even if it seemed paranoid, that we shouldn't use it since it's illegal. He's not so sold on the idea.

Besides pointing out the legality of the issue, what else could I say to help change his mind?

The copyright owner, if they find out, will sue you for a shit ton and make his life hell. No joke. This happens in the corporate world all the time.
