MAF need not answer.

I've got a speech coming up that's got to be between 7 and 10 minutes, and it's got to be descriptive. They way my professor has explained it is it can be abotu a "person, place, or a thing".

I didn't really find this to be too helpful, so when I went to her she gave me some basic ideas. She suggested I coudl do something like an interview speech where I'd interview a person and describe him or her to the audience. I could also do something like talk about my room, or talk about an event i had been ay (she gave an example of the Olympics).

Still having problems deciding what to do, I waited to see what one of the other kids in class was doing for her speech. She decided to describe her first date to the class. While the speech was good, it didn't really help me.

So, I've come to GAF looking for basic ideas as to what I can possibly do. suggestions are welcome, unless you happen to be MAF.

Owls or Shawn Michaels.

Honestly your professor was vague, "person place or thing", do your speech on the noun.

Do a speech that's a hypothetical phone conversation between a doctor and his patient.

The doctor is walking his patient through a prostate self-examination.

Unfortunately, no.

For our class, playing guitar would fall under a "demonstsration" speech.

The three types of speeches we had to choose from were Descriptive, Informative (a what is speech. ex "What is AIDS"), and Demonstration speech (one kid played guitar, one "taught" us poker).

Demonstrate how to make a basic food item like pancakes or something....that worked well for me in my public speaking class.

Just describe some famous event/disaster. Things that pop to mind are the sinking of the titanic, 9/11, etc..

Anything with a "timeline" would work well.
