I need some ideas for a term long project I'm doing for an independant studies class. Last term I did a short 30 minute video documentary on Akira Kurosawa, and this term I'd like to make another documentary, on a different subject of course.

I'm thinking either something focusing on music, or something about world issues.

Any ideas?

I like rock, alternative, indie, electronica.... lot's of stuff really. I've thought about doing a doc on U2, or maybe the Velvet Underground.

That's a viable option, I need to make sure I'll have suitable resources on the subject in terms of interview candidates. I'm in my last year of highschool, so my options in terms of people I can interview are somewhat limited.

I know there's a trove of written material on the subject though, so I needn't worry about that.

Okay, I think I might do it on the Arms Trade and how it fuels conflict, poverty and human rights violations.

Anyone know of some good texts, books or films on the subject?

i don't know where you live, but people i knew in high school did some great pieces on gutter punks and the homeless. the footage is just there waiting to be shot for the most part, and the stories are good.

AH, that's an awesome idea, I was just having a convo with my cousin the other day about it. I can't believe I didn't think of it.

It would work really well too because I live in Montreal, where the homeless situation is pretty bad.

That's definitely something I could pull off.
