Need some mouse recommendations

+1 for the Logitech G502 (Hero I suppose now). I've had mine since 2018 and it is still going strong. They DID have double clicking issues in between mine and the new ones in the last 2 years, but I'm pretty sure they put much better switches in the new ones that fixed the issues.

I also moved from a Razer Deathadder recently, to the beloved and highly affordable Logitech G203. I paid 20 euro's for it and its the best mouse I've used in years. Highly recommended if you don't want 10000 features and 20000 buttons on your mouse. It's a no-nonsense lightweight mouse with RGB. Perfect for FPS, creative work, etc.

I just swapped out my MX Master for a Razer Basilisk v3 Pro. I don't regret my decision. It's the perfect mouse for people who need a thumb rest.

I did not like this mouse, insanely heavy, even without the added weights you can put in or remove, and not great for FPS games tbh.

Personally I have had more Logitech mice break vs Razer. No, I wouldn't buy a Razer laptop, but I have had no issues with their mice and keyboards over the years.

Also, usually you can snag them on Amazon or BestBuy sale for quite a bit off MSRP a few times a year.
 
Whatever you do, steer clear of Logitech mice with that soft rubber coating. It wears out fast and won't stand the test of time. I switched to a simple hard-plastic UGREEN mouse, much better for my hands. That rubber stuff tends to degrade and stick to your skin, and you definitely don't want that.

Logitech and razer are using the same scroll encoders. Both will fail like on my v2 pro.
Razer software is 10x better than logitech bloat though.

I had a Basilisk before I bought the Logitech. Wish I had stuck with it for a replacement after I work out the first one. Probably the most comfortable mouse I've ever used.

I never had a mouse after the Logitech MX518 that didn't start double clicking after a couple of months. So I just bought a bunch of replacement switches and a soldering iron. Now I'm using a G203, it's fine with replacement switches. My brother has a G502, he never had a problem in 3 years.

I have one, good quality mouse, unfortunately one of the side buttons is dying. I have it 3 years now.

From what I read, old G502 had good build quality, then it became bad, and I don't think it improved (again, only from feedback I read online). They did release the G502X, which has optical switches, which are supposed to last longer, but apparently the noise clicks sound very loud and cheap, like a hollow / spring sound.

I need to change my mouse to, it's an old G402, but I'm not sure what to get and the different G502 options all seem to have their own issues. At some point I tried getting a new G402, but it was bad, the quality was completely different from my old one, the cable was much thinner, the mouse wheel was very loose and kept making some kind of click sound too. Even when buying the same product again, you have to be careful.

It had been a few years since I upgraded my peripherals, even got that silly magnetic wireless dock just because it looks cool haha.

Also picked up a Corsair Makr 75. Once again probably overpriced but the typing feel is awesome. The frame is just one big heavy slab of aluminium, feels really premium.

I got my G502 Hero five years ago. Don't know if that makes it one of the supposedly good/bad ones but I've never had any trouble with it. No noises, creaks, faulty buttons or whatever. Rubber grip material has worn smooth under my thumb, but has never gone sticky. I use it pretty much every day.

I've been through two G502 and both suffered from double-clicking in the main buttons. The same happened with my friend's one's (also 2). The Omron mechanical switches in those are low quality and only seem to last 1-2 years of usage. I'd not bother with those.

Also have a G502X (wireless) which I can confirm does have loud, pingy and quite stiff switches. Its a fine mouse with a lot of buttons for productivity and good for RPG/Strategy games but its heavy and frankly a little outdated these days. At least when it comes to gaming.

Honestly I would just look at mouse reviews on Youtube and go from there. There's a lot of good suggestions in here as well. The Hitscan Hyperlight mentioned above being one of those.

I just had 3 razer mice break on me. Worked at retail years ago and that fucking shit always came back. Ofc sometimes we had logitech but we could direct swap it. Razer was always bitching.

For example not a fan of sandisk micro sd cards 1TB models. But there service is amazing in europe.

10 years no nonsense free replace no shipping costs. So i still buy them

Anker robot vacuum cleaners are the same.. instant swap if they don't work.. no waiting for repairs..

Razer mice have the best feel of any mouse I've ever used. The best tracking, the smoothest glide, and the best overall feel.
And that being said, I've gone through three of them in three years. There is definitely something wrong.
And all that being said, I think I'd just buy another Razer mouse, because nothing comes close to their feel, and I have tried many.

If it were me, I'd just buy another Essentials. They're (relatively) cheap, and in my experience Logitech gaming mice are overpriced, especially if you want something wireless.

Something I don't like about Razer is that they have (or at least the ones I checked) RGB everywhere, and you apparently can't turn it off without constantly running their software in the background, which I'd prefer avoiding. They're annoying with their rgb on everything.

It's nothing over-the-top in the mouse I'm using right now (that's right, a Deathadder Essential). There's a little strip on the mousewheel and a colored logo, both of which you cover with your hand while it's in use. It's not really emissive at all, and it doesn't cast any sort of glow around the mouse.

RGB is overused for sure, and I understand developing an allergy to it, but a little bit of color isn't a big deal. It's tastefully done on this one at least. Hell, I actually appreciate it, considering I like to keep the lights pretty low at night and it helps me to find my mouse. Yeah, I'm a couch-gamer. On PC. It's weird. Don't ask me about it. :p

No, I am not a sales representative for Razer. But yes, the Deathadder is my favorite mouse. And it does have some QC issues. For me, it's always the freaking mousewheel. Either it starts to squeak, or it stops reliably registering middle-mouse clicks. But the Essential is dirt-cheap for its great feel and quality. I just hope the next one I buy lasts longer.

I recommend the Pro over the Essential because it has improved contact surfaces, but not so much that the Essential is obsolete.

Really? When I take out all the weights it's insanely light and I've played Valorant with it and it was good. I prefer my mice heavier though.
 
Just FYI, I have already recommended a G502.

But, I keep seeing people shit on Razer laptops. I have 2 razer laptops that never had anything go wrong. One is 1070 era gpu and the other is 3070ti. Still using the latter every now and again, even though I have much less need and opportunity with my new job.

I bought the zalman ZM-GM7 for €25, and now it costs €21, but it feels like a high-end mouse to me. It has excellent sensitivity when I play Morrowind, OpenArena, 0 A.D., and other games on OpenBSD. It's also a durable mouse that lasts a (very) long time and it fits comfortably in my hand. zalman has had some fairly unique designs in producing mice that bear little resemblance to other brands, such as the zalman ZM-GM4, ZM-M250, etc.

I have a Zowie EC2-A 3200 DPI for 5 years and have no problems with it.
 
To update... I've been maining the Rapoo VT Series 2 mice. Got the VT7 and VT2 Max mice and they've been solid. Battery life on them basically lasts forever and performance is top tier.

Basically on par with top of the line Razer and Logitech's, albiet without the horrible drivers. Which is ironic because these clones are arguably better than the origionals (Viper V3 Pro and G Pro X Superlight 2) as these come with the very latest MCU - processor, higher quality switches and scroll wheel. And extensive options in software.

Yeah...just the market for mice with more than 3 thumb buttons is completely non existent nowadays. I really dont like these numpad designs, as there is no way to rest my thumb ( and i am using claw grip...so have to rest)...but they seem to be the only ones left. The best mice I ever had was the Steelseries Rival 500:

Best button design ever. Especially the extra button on the right top side, was so fckn awesome....I used it always. Shame this mouse isnt produced anymore and Steelseries never bothered to make some similiar mice. All follow up's were complete downgrades. :messenger_angry:

Using a Logitech 502 Hero now.....but its not really the same.

My new mouse is a cheap SteelSeries Rival 3 Gen 2 and I like it A LOT more than the G Pro/G305 I'd been using (wired/wireless version of basically the same mouse, yes I used both)

I've never used a G502, but I went for the SteelSeries after trying the gliding action on a mouse pad in best buy, best I've ever tried. Was happy when it arrived to find the sensor felt good too. Playing FPS games more effortlessly than before, with virtually no under/overaim to adjust, just point and shoot even for no-scopes.
