Neil Blomkamp's Alien film a direct sequel to Aliens; disregards Alien 3/Resurrection

You know, Blomkamp should just go and make a AvP movie. I feel like he could be the one to finally make a take on it that is fun.

Otherwise, with Ridley Scotts Alien films he's likely never getting near the franchise.

He'd make some allegory about how Aliens are the poor masses and the Predators are super rich and advanced and oppress them without a hint of nuance or subtlety.

I'll never understand the over-the-top praise for Aliens. It's a solid film, but nowhere near the action masterpiece some people make it out to be.

It just can't even begin to touch Alien, the one true masterpiece of the franchise and one of the most important sci-fi films ever made.

I know it's probably just me, but this really is a "one and done" film series for me. I doubt this one will be any different, provided it even happens.

Sort of agree? I absolutely get all the praise for Aliens, I think it's a outstanding film (like all Cameron's work honestly) in agree with a lot of the consensus it's as about good as Alien just in different ways.

It's been a good while since of seen it though, but what I don't get is its praise as the best action movie of all time. Like I was once discussing T2 as the best action film of all time at work a long time ago and someone interjected and went "That's not Aliens". Again, it's been a while, but I don't really think of it as action film at all. It's more horror-suspense imho. Cut the climax out and do you still have an action movie? Not really imo. You have a pretty slow beginning, a bunch of marines getting annihilated, and what, a couple of ship crashes (again, been a while)? It's utterly fantastic as a suspense-horror with some heavy action elements but I can name like 10 movies I think are better action films.

Edit: Probably getting wrecked for this post, but I will concede I do remember it has one of my favorite blue screen action/explosion shots of all time (the ship crash with the person running away).

Til this day I still can't understand the beef people had with Alien 3. I really enjoyed the different setting and the ending was proper to me.
