Neil Druckmann hints towards his next game

Doesn't sound like TLOUP3, says theres an entire writers room assembled not just him and another person like previous games.

TBH, Thats the best way to tell a video game story. You simply cannot maintain movie like pacing for games that are now 20-30 hours long for their story mode alone.

And pacing is only half the problem. You have to have a new conflict and resolution every hour to keep viewers interested like they do in tv shows. And you cant have one or even two writers come up with 30 hours of stories in 3 years.

With all that said, tv shows arent perfect and vary in quality episode to episode. Sometimes season to season. Lets hope Neil runs a tighter ship compared to Westworld and Game of Thrones showrunners.

Just give me a solid 15 hour single player title with plenty of set pieces and wow moments. Drop a solid script in there and I'll pay up, no problem.

I don't get why everything needs to be either episodic or 50 hours long to be good.

Neil's game is an open-world then.

Serialized storytelling used in a great deal of TV shows is the usual narrative structure found in most narrative-driven open-world games nowadays (see Red Dead Redemption 2, Days Gone, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, etc)

Sounds like something episodic? Interesting if true, although that doesn't actually mean it may be "episodic" like we normally think of it.

Like, it could be a game with multiple storylines as chapters that weave into each other as the game goes on. But each one may have certain game mechanics exclusive to it, but they otherwise share other mechanics.

So "episodic" could just be referring to the way the story is structured, not the game itself being broken up into multiple smaller chunks.

Movies can be written by writers rooms too... this doesn't tell us whether it's TLOU3 or not.
He could have elected to make TLOU2 with a writers room.

That said there's no good reason to believe whatever "leak" provided the TLOU3 rumor.

I lost faith in the guy when he tweeted his love for the Star Wars sequels. He needs to quit writing. Just like how Dan Houser needs to quit writing games too. Both are ruining good franchises with their garbage story writing.

Hmm, yeah, seems like TLOU Online

Maybe they will drop one new chapter from time to time to generate engagement?

Would be awesome if there's still a faction system, and depending on each faction winning the "season", it changes the narrative or something

I Hope the game won't try try to be too mature and edgy like they did for Part2.

Also, Part 2 had horribly written characters as opposed to Part1; I mean Jesse, Dina, Manny, Isaac… yikes.

Druckmann is a super game director, I wish he would just stop trying to live out his film director dream and embrace his medium. Make great video games as you do, but stop trying to make your games to gain the recognition of Hollywood. You medium is superior in scope, embrace that.

I miss when ND did games with gameplay being priority, instead of story and desperate attempts to get emotional responses from gamers.

What the hell are you talking about? Anyone with two working brain cells can see in Red Dead Redemption 2 one of the best written pieces of media in all of entertainment.

And The Last Of Us: Part II is just as good. Grow some fucking good taste.

I cannot talk about RDR2.

But the storytelling in the last of us 2. Is pretentious, contrived and inorganic as fuck.

Ironically. People without taste would find TLoUP2 good.😆

These days people don't read so the last of us 2 is a masterpiece otherwise it's just horseshit. Niel sucks balls.....n yeah for him TROSW was a masterpiece. He is just bad version of Zack Snyder. They both design visual masterpieces but they sure as hell need a a good team of writers.

Probably talking about Factions and the "structured like a tv show" is referring to seasons like in a GAAS game.

He just phrased it like that so the normies wouldunderstand.
