Basically some dude had his motorbike stolen from his house, so he got in his car and chased them around the local area. According to the CCTV it looks like he knocked them off the bike (rammed them whatever you want to call it). One of them flew into a lamppost and died pretty much on the spot.

The guy in question has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for manslaughter.

Apparently he made no attempt to call the police and that is probably one of the reasons that he got sent to jail (also for reckless driving, he went the wrong way on roads, wrong way around roundabouts) but I still cannot help but have the urge to buy him a pint.

I mean these little scruffs stole his motorbike. If they got chased then surely they were the ones who caused the chase.

What do we all think?

No.

His property. Fight or flight doesn't give you a call to the police, who can't chase these people.

Death is unfortunate, crime Should be punishable & that punishment is too much imo.

Maybe go halfsies and give him 5. Or maybe 10 is fine. Some dipshits stole something from him and he followed them, and then killed one. I get that people shouldn't steal things, but I don't think we need to go around murdering everyone who commits a crime.

He should be done for driving without due care and attention. That's it. Charles should have at least called the services but the turd could have avoided his death by not being a thieving wee cunt. Doesn't deserve 10 years in the clink, that's for sure.

He could easily have killed a random bystander with the way he was driving, he doesn't have any sirens and even cops have limits on how they can pursue people. Ramming someone off a speeding motorcycle is definitely manslaughter.

On some level I understand it, but it's really fucking poor judgement.

Don't know why but something about the combination of "murder death kill" made me laugh out loud.

Never take the law into your own hands unless its a life or death situation, sure it’s shitty to have something expensive stolen from you but to kill someone over a motorcycle?
He should of at least called police and then maybe followed them but that could of lead to someone else getting hurt including himself, what if they had a gun and shot the dude?
Shitty situation all around.

I mean not sure about 10 years, but the danger in which he put the public and killed someone over motorbike is definitely worth a jail time.

Yeah I dunno if he should get 10 years for it, but he definitely shouldn't have handled the situation the way he did.

Well then I guess they would be going to prison for a lot longer than 10 years.

I suppose he may end up getting out in a lot less than 10 years if he has no prior criminal record. Seems as though he just wanted his bike back and (mistakenly) thought ramming them would achieve that without too much in terms of injury.

I have no sympathy for the guy who died though. He and his "associate" are the ones who started the whole chain of events.

Seems a little to lite for taking the law into your own hands and causing a death, I would say at least a year or two for reckless driving and killing someone.
It’s not a good look bro, the thief caused everything that took place if you’re looking at this correctly. Jail is the last place you want to spend any portion of your life, if his record was clean before this I’d say just sentence him to a fuck ton of community service

The reason the guy take it on his own hand is because police will never do shit about this until the bike ended up in the pound. I say the police are half responsible in this, 1000 hour community services top for me. May be suspend his license for reckless driving.

Thing is what if he cuased a innocent bystanders death by making the guy crash into a crowd, store, little kid..etc...
Sure the thief set everything in motion but you can’t recklessly chase some around city streets because they stole something from you and then ram them into a telephone pole.
He could of easily followed them and called police.
You have to remember he took a life and no matter how big a piece of shit the thief was you can’t take the law into your own hands unless it’s a life or death situation. It’s not the wild west.

Dude just needs to become a state AG. Then you can kill anyone you want without repercussion.

"South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg said he's confident he didn't commit a crime when he struck and killed a man as he drove along a dark highway in September."

This.

Theres been a case here recently where some teenagers stole a guys car. The guy called authorities from memory and attempted to chase the thieves down; in the thieves end ended up wrapping the car around a pole and 2 died another died.

They want to charge the guy who was chasing them.

Dont know how I feel on that one. On the one hand, he could have hit someone, but he didnt. The teens who took the car on the other hand, killed themselves so I dunno
