They are not charging restock fees for cancellations of the TE sticks.

Can you confirm this? I have seen people on the shoryuken forums claiming the opposite. Guess I'll just call them tomorrow morning and find out for myself.

If you're talking about extremely faint "patterns" in the finish, particularly around the screws, then mine is like that as well. It's possible they're all like that - just some people don't notice because you have to be looking for it in the right light.

Mad Catz has indicated that they'll fix these if you want - but it seems a waste to send the stick in for this. I wonder if it's possible to just get a replacement part mailed.

Markman?

I was reading some old posts here and yeah it looks like this happened on some of the TE's :(

While MadCatz may fix it would be so dissapointing to not have the stick right at the games launch when I cant even buy a replacement.

Thanks but I dont want to be without the stick :(

MadCatz looks like it still has some old ghosts in its quality control.

Again, love the stick but the fact that its not perfect bothers me.

I have an x-arcade stick that I will be modding for the 360 shortly... Would someone be able to tell me if I would need additional adapters to use sanwa/happ joysticks/buttons?

Need some help guys. I'm having trouble with my EX2 (Surprise, surprise! :() Anyway, my "Y" button is starting to have issues. Sometimes it doesn't register and sometimes it registers multiple times for one press (I can see this when I use Sakura and it does a partially charged fireball when I don't want one). I went into the SF4 training mode and turned on input display to do some tests. When I hit the button 10 times I'll get anywhere between 6 and 15 registers. :\

Any ideas on what the issue may be? Fixes? Every other button/function works perfectly.

Ok i haven't seen anything like this posted in this thread, probably because everyone who comes in here is deciding to mod stuff but I'd thought I'd the differences I noticed between STOCk SE fightstick and Hori EX2/FightingStick3. Had the SE stick for about a week and the EX2 for a little less than 6 months.

Once again if you're reading this is a comparison between both the stock sticks, no mods whatsoever. Which one should a Fighting Game newbie pick?

Stick
The EX2 has a much louder clicking sound, it also feels slightly looser. The louder clicking may be partly due to the fact that on the SE has a larger body that the sound can travel around a bit more but the SE is still very clicky.
As far as precision goes, both are pretty much equal, however I had a slightly easier time doing dashes on the SE than the EX2 but that could be due to the actual wear and tear of the EX2.
Winner: Madcatz SE

Buttons
I prefer the feel and sound of the hori buttons, the SE buttons feel weird they have more of an airy feel to them. However the madcatz SE seems to have a slight edge on the activation, once again it's neglible and could also be due to wear and tear of my EX2.
Another thing, while I like that the EX2 has 6 buttons instead of 8, the placement for them is terrible, i have to change the Button config in any game i play. The 8 buttons on the SE are nice though, I like the curved close japanese style, while my friend prefers the straight american style, best of both worlds, but sometimes I do wish I didn't have those 2 extra buttons. The start/select placement on the back of the SE is awesome, but the buttons do look/feel cheap.
Winner: HORI EX2
Button Placement: Madcatz SE

Cord length
Hands down madcatz wins this round, the SE has a cord long enough to go around my coffee table with slightly extra just incase someone had to move around the couch.
Winner: Madcatz SE

Portability
I give this one to the EX2/FS3, the SE is a great size and weight, however if you are a casual player you might feel like a nerd carrying the SE. The EX2 is a perfect size for traveling.

Overall.. Is it worth it to spend the extra money on the SE rather than the EX2. Depends, if you're not planning on modding either stick, the EX2 would be a slightly better choice since they're pretty much have the same performance parts wise. The SE is a very good stick and it's definitely worth the money especially if you: want to upgrade, change the layout of buttons, or want SF4 product.

So if I am understanding this correctly, the "Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way Adjustable" that is on the Lizard Lick site is adjustable between 4 and 8 way correct?

This should mean that I do not need to buy a separate "Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate" right? I just need to make sure the one that comes with my JLF is set to 8 way.

Is this correct?

Thanks!

Is my PCB ruined (Madcatz SE)? I was able to finally take it apart in hopes of gluing down the washer.

Just want to clear things up. I spoke with Dave from Video Game Central and there seems to be some miscommunication going around. I'm sure once VGC gets their shipments in (not sure when that is sorry), they'll be able to satisfy those who have preordered.

Cheers.

Everyone is getting impatient because of the SF4 launch, no one can blame them. The least we can do is be patient and not insult individuals/companies as it won't do us anyone any good in the long run.

SQUARE GATES ARE 8-WAY. IF THEY WERE 4-WAY THEY WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY FIGHTING GAMES WITH.

The only way to adjust a square gate from 8-way to 4-way by turning it 45-degrees clockwise into a diamond shape:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQLXRD-0GBg

In 4-way mode, two microswitches cannot register at the same time, meaning diagonals don't exist. Ideal for something like pac-man. Impossible to play a fighting game with.

Is this also true for the stock 4-way gates in the TE stick? If so I just ordered two that I don't need.

lol, why would a fightstick ship with a 4-way gate? You need eight directions for diagonals.

The Madcatz sticks have 8-way, square gates.

Crap, sorry I mixed up my terminology. I meant can the square gates in the TE sticks be rotated like the gate in the video? I bought replacements from Lizardlick thinking that they couldn't.

They can

So you are implying that I DO NOT need to order the GT-Y Octogonal plate then. I just need to make sure my JLF plate is set to 8-way. So I guess the GT-Y is for people that want 8-way only and no option of 4-way? Odd.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a pink Bat style joystick for my next custom stick.

I've found pink Japanese style; but I prefer bat style.

Any suggestions that are not Happ Controls? :|

Dude, joystick is in the wrong spot. Need to move Ivy a bit more to the left. ;)

selling:

LS-32-01 joystick: $20 shipped (add balltop for $2 more: blue, dark blue, or mesh dark blue for $15 extra)

6 clear blue Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm buttons: $18 shipped (add balltop for $2 more: blue, dark blue, or mesh dark blue for $15 extra)

Those of you looking to get HRAP3's modded for 360, I can vouch for akuma001. He did an awesome job modding mine for me, and great guy all around.

AAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

the LT button on my EX2 is sticking.. I can get it to pop back up, but once it gets pushed down it takes some coercing to recover.

Is there some kind of magical fix for this that doesn't involve desoldering my button? Cuz at that point I'd be better off buying new buttons and trying my hand at modding.. unless some super friendly gaffer wanted to do it (for pay of course) ;x

TE not shipping until March 8th, and I'm not counting on that at this point

Is there anything I can do [or, rather, have someone else do for me] with an Agetec Dreamcast arcade stick that will make it work with the 360?

Dual-PCB mod it with a board from a 360 controller/accessory.

Fry's just got like 50 SE sticks in Texas (Irving) if anyone cares.
Do you happen to know when they will put them on the shelf? I went there just before closing time and I was told they were still sold out. =(

so whats the deal with lizardlick, i know it says orders "may be delayed" but how do we know if our order is part of the delay? i emailed them because the address on my paypal shipping was wrong but havent received a response

I've been thinking of doing it myself. There's a guy on the shoryuken forum that sells already modded 360 controller pcbs. The only thing is, I've been trying to find the thread but Shoryuken.com keeps giving me 'server too busy' messages. I haven't been able to get on for the past two days!

NO!

an 8-way SQUARE gate is NOT the same thing as an 8-way OCTOGONAL gate.

don't be confused. I own both.

I'm going to be buying some Sanwa parts soon and was just curious: is there a major difference in play style for the octogonal vs the square? What's the best way to go?

just go octagonal for everything,i personally couldnt pull off even a hadoken on a square.

There's no "best", it's completely a matter of preference. The official SFIV arcade cabinets use square gates. Try both and decide which one you prefer.

play style? not really. you get used to either one in the end. I do find circular motions (QCF, 360) feel much more natural on my octognal. you'll find the square makes it easier to find the corners when you want to slam that hadoken or if you need to find that emergency DB block.

there are pros and cons either way.

So is Hori going to do another run of the Xbox 360 Real Arcade Pro. EX, and if so any idea when they will be available again? Also who is accepting preorders of the TE stick now?

So I'm starting to think of how I want my PS3 SE fightstick to look when I tear it up in a month or so. I really REALLY dig the clear Seimitsu buttons that are out there (even though they're all nut versions, not snap-ins, which means more work...) but I'm wondering how it'll feel going from the "Sanwa" buttons with their big bump to a flatter button. But if I get a bubbletop for the JLF I want to throw in, I'd want everything to look similar. ...Just how much less sensitive ARE the Seimitsus vs the Sanwa buttons?

noob question: sanwa/seimitsu button combo... yay or nay? I'm thinking of using two clear seimitsus for the right-most buttons. any reason why I should avoid mixing buttons?
