So, I finally got my PS3 TE Stick in the mail yesterday from Amazon. I plugged it in a started practicing with it. After about a half hour, it stopped working. None of my inputs are recognized by the PS3, and none of the LED lights on the stick are lighting up. I've reconnected it to the console and reset it a few times, but outside of that I don't really know what I could do to remedy it. Has anyone else had any problems like this? Is there anything I can do outside of send it back to Amazon and wait again for one?

You shouldn't ride the gate when executing moves, use subtle movements. American sticks you play with your arm, Japanese sticks you play with your wrist.
Ohh okay. I'm gonna keep that in mind. And I'm currently jobless so I have plenty of time, Ronabo. :D

His post on SRK says orders from the 18th should be going out today or tomorrow. He ran out of white buttons again so last night I asked to have them swapped for pink. He already got back to me so I it looks like things are moving along.

I got my TE Stick today. I'm having a hard time adjusting like a lot of other people. I have trouble pulling off most special moves even Ryu's Super and Ultra Combos. Do you guys have a suggestions as to what I should do to fully adjust? Play tons of Training Mode or something like that?
I've had mine for a few weeks now and I'm just now feeling totally comfortable with it although I do find that I have an easier time playing facing left than facing right (if that makes any sense). I figure another couple weeks and I'll feel just like I would if I were using a pad. I would do tons of challenge mode trials as it will help you get used to the stick and better at the game in general at the same time :D

Started looking for what wood to use for my custom stick. Never done any woodworking before so this is going to be a lot of fun. :D

Needless to say I'm making a prototype out of MDF before I use any ludicrously expensive timber. :lol

feb 19th
octagate
battop
2 sanwa red
2 sanwa white
6 sanwa blue

no news.

Got my TE stick from Bestbuy in the mail today. Already having issues that seem similar to that of the fight stick, my character gets stuck in one direction and its not exactly easy to get them out of it. Assuming I will have to send it in for repair or whatever, its happening nonstop too.

Try a different USB port. You shouldn't be having that problem two sticks in a row, especially with the TE.

Practice with the square gate or do what I did and put SFIV away until the octagon gate mod. Rather wait 2 weeks instead of trying to relearn 10 years of experience.

Just want to give credit to Lizard Lick for my order. Even through all the hubbub and backlogs they managed to do a little something "extra". Not only were they able to change my JLF stick order to the SK type which has the correct PCB orientation, they threw in a shaft cover and extra dust cover/washer for free. Small token but very much appreciated. I already placed another order for my HRAP 3 which just came in from Amazon.

I have SFIV and a Fightpad but no stick. I think I'm going to forego it for now, since the modding process seems mandatory to get the desired arcade experience and the pad is working well enough. I'll keep my eyes out for TE sticks if they ever get back in stock.

Seems ok, but whatever! I only have that one stick, I was just comparing it to the most common issue with the fightstick.

I ordered the octagon plate with the bat top/adaptor, anyone have any links to how to get them installed? I know its been asked a lot, so im sorry! Tried digging through the last umpteen pages but couldn't find it.

Very nice. What size wire did you use (and is there a place to get it on the cheap)?

My recent project:

Yeah... It needs some work. Works like a charm, though. Buttons and stick are stock for now.

Even though I'd hate to lose DC functionality, I have to say that's awesome, Bananimus.
Has anyone tried a multi-system mod on a green goblin? Doesn't look like there's much room for such a thing :(

The PCB I used is pretty huge compared to a Cthulhu or Universal PCB. I'm sure something could be worked out. Also, the original PCB is very small.

So I caved. When my SE stick got cancelled only after every stick of any worth was already sold out in every store that shipped to Australia, I went and ordered the XCM Dominator off Play-Asia. It arrived today and I opened it up to see whether I'll have any luck modding this thing:

I'm definitely replacing the buttons, which I was surprised to find are snap-ins. I'll just cut those wires going to them and solder to the replacement buttons. However, am I able to replace the stick? It has the normal joystick connections, but it seems to be just held in a square plastic hole and only held in place by the screws visible in the pic. No mounting plate or anything.

I'll check the dimensions later, but does anybody know if I'll be able to put a Sanwa or Seimitsu stick (preferably Seimitsu) in there without having to mod the case? Is the proximity to the PCB an issue? Thanks for any help.

just give it time mostly, i had a ton of trouble at first, but now it has gotten to the point to where i can't even play without the square gate. It just feels so much better than the octagonal gate.

I'm going to mod both my 360 and PS3 Hori Stick with Sanwa parts. This is my first attempt at it, but are there any step by step manual links here?? I decided that the TE stick was too much, plus I'd have more "fun" modding as I already have a soldering iron and wires for modding.

Are they Hori Real Arcade Pros or Hori Fighting Sticks? You're not going to fit a Sanwa lever in a Hori Fighting Stick 3/EX2 without some physical modification to the case or stick.

SRK is a good resource.
Use this for the HRAPs (Seimitsu stick mounting may not be an easy option on the newer HRAPs):

Well i'll be damned. My December 28th preorder TE stick that was delayed to April 15th actually shipped today.

HUzzah! Guess I'll put the other pre orders on eBay. Can you believe Canadian EB games are only getting them next week

By the great beard of Zeus! Just saw on SRK that LL is sold out of JLF's until April. Glad I got my order in time (3 weeks ago) and received it yesterday.

Or maybe instead of scalping them you can offer them up to other Gaffers at cost? I'm not interested in one, but it'd be a great service to the community if you be a humanitarian here.

It blows my mind how many people place getting a little quick cash over strengthening and giving something back to the forum community. If you're going to be greedy and money hungry, at least do a little self-censoring in your posts and keep it to yourself.

Why do you hate capitalism?

Well... Best Buy had the PS3 Tournament Stick available online today (for a short while). Looks like my order went through.

I'm still uncertain whether spending $150 for a quality stick was the best move for me. BB says it'll be here within two weeks. I'll try it out and if buyers' remorse persists I'll be willing to sell it at cost + shipping to any GAFfer still hunting.

I don't hate capitalism - I just wish people would be cool more often than just be greedy. I sold off my EX2 stick last month to someone on the board for $35 bucks - I could have put it on ebay and made four times that much - but I decided to give someone a chance to have some fun without paying out the nose for a stick. Doing these things strengthens a community's ties and in general makes the board a happier place to be, rather than sifting through posts reading about people scalping their wares on ebay because supply is tight.

It's a moot point, I won't derail the thread further.

It's worth it. Trust me on this. My TE stick has made SF4 10000x more enjoyable to me.

I've only been a casual lurker of this thread, so if this has been beaten to death I apologize. That said; has anyone come up with an effective way to monitor in-stock status on the TE Fightstick?

It's only worth it if you really get into the game. I have a Logitech G25 collecting dust because I thought I would get into racing games, but I didn't. In any case, the leap over a stock HRAP3 and TE isn't great and the HRAP3 was a lot more affordable, not that you can find any of them now.

That's nice of you but its wrong to browbeat people for not following your lead. We don't know (most) of these people, what if that guy just turned around and sold it on eBay for 4 times that much?

He prob turned around and sold it for 100 bucks on ebay :lol

Wow, $35 for an EX2; I argue you ripped the poor guy off... If he ends up using it himself.

I see where you're coming from. But you have to consider the position of those selling. Perhaps they've lost their jobs in the time since they'd originally ordered the stick. Money could be a real concern.

There's nothing wrong with the EX2. Honestly, I have one and I can never say that I've lost a match because of it. I've used much nicer sticks and they feel a little more comfortable but I'd argue that all you really need is 6 face buttons that work when you press them and a decent joystick.

I like the green goblin tho :$

Sure there is. The PCB is known for randomly failing. Buttons will eventually stop working in pairs. Happened to me, DaCocoBrova, and others here on GAF.

I used to own a DC Agetec stick - I sold it years back, though, because I hated the square gate. I was too used to playing on American cabinets with, I assume, circular/no gate Happ sticks. I regret that now - I'd have fun modding one with new stuff.

Speaking of modding, I'm thinking of cutting a piece of lexan/plexiglass to size and replacing the bottom metal plate of my Wii Hori Fighting sticks with it. I'm proud of the wiring and it would be a fun way to show it off. It also solves the issue of the metal bottom shorting out the PCB if left hanging. :P

Hori Real Arcade Pro or Sega Virtua Stick High Grade

I assure you these are sold out everywhere too though.
