Hey MarkMan...any word on the Death Smiles Arcade Stick? Is it quick disconnect, or are the buttons soldered directly to the PCB?

No idea off hand... we'll find out soon enough though.

Yes Boss! where did you preorder from?

Me? If it is then I haven't pre ordered it yet. I was looking to get it from Play Asia when they open the orders up. I just wanted to know before I drop the funds for one...

On the 360--how can you tell if your USB port is dying?

I finally modded my SE stick but ever since I started using it, it loses connection for no reason--it will not register sometimes after working fine for a bit and my 360 will ask for it to be re-connected. Other times it will shut off and then re-connect a second after all on its own. Also, in lieu of shutting off entirely, sometimes it will work fine--except that it won't register my FP & HK buttons. This is usually remedied by disconnecting/reconnecting from the USB port though.

I also mediated the problem somewhat by replacing the break-away portion of the cord with one from my Hori stick, which fits much more snugly/securely on the Madcatz SE and in the USB port as well. Now it disconnects much less but its still not gone altogether.

You might have shorted something out on the board when you modded it - or the PCB itself may be dying. I wouldn't flat out be convinced it's your system's USB ports until you did some investigating. Get another USB device and see if it has issues disconnecting. Like, an official wired pad or something.

Or did you try that already and it exhibited no problems? You mention another "Hori stick".

Does your Hori stick have the same problem? If not, it probably isn't your USB port, but the SE stick that is going bad.

Yeah, I gotta hook up my DOA stick again to check it. *sigh* Either scenario would suck--but at least it being just the SE stick would suck less. How in the hell I could have damaged it is beyond me. New buttons and a new stick and that's it. *double sigh*

Bah,

Gamestop.com blows. They can't seem to verify my American Express since my billing is different than my delivery...and I order thousands of dollars annually at other places with a separate billng and shipping with that same card.

Anybody else get this drama?

I've called them three times to and talked to three different reps and they say the same thing. Seems like my hopes for another TE have been lost.

Hay guys,

And my Desu Smiles sticks are shipping from Amazon jp to my friend's house soon.

Damn.

I think I might just sell the TE stick hahahaha. I still don't have my order filled from Capcom.

Are you in Japan as well and will be able see inside it? Just curious about the innards as I'm waiting for confirmation before ordering Seimitsu buttons. Mine probably won't arrive till around the 30th.

Ah I've had this problem too. Started popping up after I fixed the broken PCB in my EX2 but it's also been an issue with my HRAP EX since I got it. It's very very rare but it happens.

Last week I placed and order from them and got a verification phone call later in the day. And the day after that they canceled the order. And then two days ago I got an email requesting I call them to verify my order. Whatta bunch of boobs.

You guys are making me paranoid about my HRAP EX. It's been working perfectly ever since I imported it last year though.
And you've got me paranoid about the TE I have on the way! I hope it is OK. I want to make it all pretty-like but I dunno what I'd put on it. I was leaning towards some Jack Kirby art but after seeing the Kago stick I'm thinking going Japanese might be fun. I'd love to put this on it, since it sums up how I feel playing them fighting games, but all those damn buttons would get in the way and I'm not much for photoshop work.

Does the VSHG have the 3 button issue in SF4? Did I ask this already? I'm starting to miss mine. I'm happy with the HRAP but it ain't nearly as hot as the VSHG. Nothin' is, really.

Friend is in Japan, I am in the States. I'll ask him to open one up and take pictures.

oh my god, what the fuck NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

"We wanted to update you on the status of your recent
order:

1 Mad Catz Street Fighter Iv Tournament Edition Fightstick - Joystick (mad Catz Sf4047380/02/1)

The item(s) you ordered did not ship because 1 or more items are out of stock and needs to be back ordered. Your order will be shipped as soon as we can replenish the stock of the back ordered item(s)."

SE FightStick question:

I want to change from the square gate to the Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate from LizardLick, however I read that installing the gate with the stock stick isn't recommended.

Anyone know why that is? Or did anyone go ahead and install it anyway?

Only because the stock stick on the SE tends to break so why bother? Not to mention the stock gate is a b*tch to take off.

I got the email this morning as well, so stoked!

So,

I wanna paint my TE bezel. What types of paint and coating do I buy for the most professional look? I'm doing pink and I'd prefer a more matted than glossy finish. Will this look decent or am I gonna have to deal with chipping and stuff like that?

Also, any links to a collected list of TE custom mods? I'm having my brother design the template and I just wanna give him a sample of what has been done.

Protip: Use Vinyl Dye instead of paint. It'll stain the plastic itself you you won't have to worry about the color chipping off like you would when using paint.

MarkMan has a sweet compilation on the SDTEKKEN flickr photostream

Thanks. When you say dye is it the type of dye that will be able to shift a Red bezel to Pink? I'm only familiar with Rit dye which is only good to go to darker shades.

That's a really good question. I don't know. Wouldn't white dye do the trick?

Yeah, I guess you'd have to dye it white first then dye it pink. Honestly, I did not even know you could do something like that (!). I've got a few weeks since Lizardlick is not back online so I'm gonna have to research.

Ideally, I'd like to dye the two white sides black, the bezel pink and then put in a pink balltop with seimitsu pink buttons with black edges for the first six then yellow with black for the last two on the right side to accent Peach's hair. Then so some cool background graphic pattern similar to Donkey Shows pedo stick.

I just took apart a wiimote to see what it looked like and it should be easy to adapt to a TE...even putting the home button on the back. Not sure how I'm gonna do the IR camera yet but having the cord storage compartment on the TE is proving highly beneficial!

_dementia said:
Rummy, there are no input problems with VSHG and SFIV. If I'm not mistaken, the issue only exists within T5DR/T5DR:O.
Ahh I thought it was an issue in some emulators too.

Is it true LizardLick is still on orders from February? And Akihabara Shop is still closed too...I can't believe things are still this crazy.

This is really getting out of hand

Figures they arrive the day I really start bitching :p

Got miiiiiiiiine :D

Edit - Hmmm, kind of want to change the artwork on it.......how might I do that?

Ok, I'm at this point with my mod. looking to dye the white sides black and the bezel pink...or just do both black if Vinyl dye is expensive. Does anybody have any experience doing this or should I be scouring the shoyruken thread? Like, specifically, what brand dye?

PS: MarkMan, I'm sick of red goop! :lol

Also,

I've got these extra buttons out of my TE that I no longer will be needing. They have about three hours use on them and are in almost-new condition. If anybody is interested in them I'm selling them for $15 delivered in the US or $20 delivered to anywhere else in the world. Just PM me.

6X Sanwa White OBSF-30
2X Sanwa Black/Grey OBSF-30
2X Sanwa White OBSF-24
1X Sanwa White LB-35 Joystick Ball-top

Success!

Pretty impressed with this vinyl paint technology. I did not even know stuff like this existed (at least not in inexpensive can form)! I'm going to be doing one more light coat but so far it looks hella professional.

Now, just gotta wait for the shops to come back online so I can order pink Seimitsu buttons. The below Peach image will be incorporated, so if anybody has any design ideas throw them my way.

I ordered a bunch of parts from gamingnow.net about a week and a half ago. I got a paypal invoice but haven't received any sort of shipping confirmation from them. Does anyone have experience with them and are they reliable or have timely shipping? Should've probably done my homework beforehand but every other site was temporarily closed or sold out of everything decent. Hell I couldn't even get the clear white seimitsu buttons I wanted and had to settle for red and blue. Gonna have to totally change my theme. :(

that looks great, do you brush the stuff on, spray it on or dip your stuff into it? can't wait to see the end result.

What kind of dye did you use? I used Krylon Fusion to paint the bezel white on mine, but it was really easy to get smears from other parts onto it, so I'm thinking I might re-paint it sometime down the road.

I saw the Krylon fusion but I opted for something called Duplicolor for Vinyl. I actually wanted Plastickote but it was not available in my Orange County area. The Dye/paint was evenly applied and dried in about ten minutes. Seems durable but I do have a mark where there is white so I've gotta go mask off and do one last coat...but that was likely due to me not giving it enough time to dry before assembly. I was pretty impressed as all the minor imperfections in the original plastic still were there after the coat.

Milkham,

Just sprayed it on with even strokes beginning before the piece and continuing well after. Any collecting dye was just absorbed into the plastic so an even coat was achieved.

Now, the real work starts with converting this into a Wii stick.

Enlighten me GAFFERS!

I want to purchase a entry-level arcade stick to play SF4 on the PS3. I have no modding experience and do not plan to mod the stick.

What can I do *right now* if I am wanting to spend ~125$ USD to order online?

Helps!

I was gonna suggest the Hori FS3, but all the SFEX4 retards are driving up the price. Was $40 last month. :|

Technically still in your price range; but for that money you could probably do better.

The money is right but the timing is off. You've gotta wait till the Hori sticks come back in stock which seems the end of april at the earliest.

Also, there are branded sticks arriving but they might be a bit beyond your price range. Surely there will be more stick announcements for the summer fighters, KoF XII and BlazBlue with the usual suspects positioning there sticks around these titles. I'm expecting domestic HRAP 3s and EXs to become available again.

Thanks guys, I will keep an eye out... hopefully there are restocks by may!! :)
I forgot to mention I'm from Canada, hope I can still get something...

I was looking at the SE stick, but with 0 modding experience and wanting to just pick up and play out of the box, I think i will avoid that one... and the TE is outside of my 'entry' level price range!

the hori FS3 looks great, I think I will aim for that one once it comes in... does anyone know where I could pre-order it so that it just ships automatically to me (in Canada) once it is restocked?

thanks so much!!

Ok! So I've finally decided on a picture to change my TE stick to and possibly my SE stick... So where can I find the template and instructions to doing so? XD
