I'm thinking of buying a stick but I notice that there seems to be a high preference for a PS3 stick. Any reasons why?

Devastation and EVO used PS3s.

I was getting pretty frustrated at trying to do qcf x2 motions with TE. Spent a good while trying to do taokakas DDs in training mode. I think about 5 % of those were successful. :\

I guess I just need more practice. I think Im doing the motion right but most of the time tao just made the dash to up-forward. (which comes from df + D I guess)

I'd consider this if it were to happen.

I'm trying to fix the washer problem in the madcatz SE fightstick and can't seem to remove the c-clip (or called e-clip). Can anyone give me some advice on how to remove the thing? I'm already ordered from LL but its gonna be at least a couple weeks before my stick and buttons arrive. I still want to play BB while i wait for the stuff so i'm in need of some help.

I finally got the art for my TE to a place im happy with so I figure I post it and get some feedback. I didnt know what to put on it, I went with a puzzle fighter version of hakumen from blazblue (I used the ryu puzzle fighter art for a face ref) it came out ok. The idea is me as hakumen lol. Im leaning towards Extended TE plexi with orange buttons and bubble top.

Wow.

I'm planning on modding it with Seimitsu clear PS-14-KN buttons and for the stick I'm just going to add a GT-Y octagonal restrictor plate, replace the Hori microswitches with HAPP Cherry ones, and change the balltop to a clear one.

Will doing this lessen the stick's 'dead zone'?

This isn't directly to do with my stick but the tip of my 360 headset's pin just snapped off in the adaptor when I was attempting to sort out an echo. I've sent a mail to support to see if I'd be able to get a replacement but does anybody know of a way I could get the small piece of the pin out of the port so I could use a new headset? It kind of sucks that I'm unable to chat whilst playing fighters, with they made it so the headset just snapped in like with the hori's.

Not a stick obviously, but instead of necroposting in the fightpads thread, I ordered one of the Comic Con LE fightpads from Gameshark's store. I've been wanting one for a while and figured what the hell, might as well get one of the 1000 made!

In the adaptor, not in the actual stick? You can get a male-female 2.5mm cable at any radioshack that should do the trick.

FYI, All new MS wires 360 headsets come with a standard plug now, they don't use the big connector, which is prolly why MadCatz went the way they did.

PS3 has more or less become the tournament standard in the United States
Any particular reason? Is it because of BC on PS3? Is it easier to mod an old PS2 stick into a PS3 one? Or is it for no good reason? Just curious.

Not sure if it's the actual reason, but I'm sure tournament organizers don't want to run into RRODs.

All PS2 sticks need is an adapter and you can use for PS3.

As mentioned above, ease of PS2 stick use and reliabilty are big factors.
Additionally, Sony also donated PS3s to EVO AFAIK; at least they sponsored the event.

It's also crazy easy to build a custom stick for the PS3, which is is a bigger part of the tourney scene than you'd think.

Thanks for the help I was just wondering if anyone knew the uk equivilent to radio shack as I'm unable to find a 2.5 to 2.5 cable on the web, everything seems to be 2.5 to 3.5 or vice-versa.

Edit: I found this http://www.kenable.co.uk/product_info.php?referer=froogle&products_id=1778 but I'm not too sure it will work, the reason being that after looking through a lot of extensions some say they'll only work with output not input?

Within the next few weeks, I'm going to mod my T5 stick. I've seen the tutorial and now I'm in the planning stages. The things I need to figure out are art, color scheme (includes buttons, joystick/top), and some other stuff that I'm forgetting. This will be one hell of mod and my first, but I feel it'll work out though.

Sad thing the PS3s at EVO were suffering from lag spikes and overall sluggishness. Some say it was due to the retarded random "You Did Not Earn a Trophy" message pop ups.

Coming from billions of hours of play on the 360 tho, I noticed a difference immediately and there was definitely an adjustment period.

Did they install the game to the HD prior?

Did it effect your own results? If it did thats unfortunate.

I dont think so. Coming in cold and not having warmed up to it it definitely would have I think. I did get a EX Soul Throw instead of an Ultra that pretty much cost me my winners match in the semis but I do that at home too so... :lol

There's a thread on SRK where some peeps are saying it did affect them tho.

So Evo was using an old build of SF4? because I remember seeing the "you did not earn a trophy" from videos before the game came out.

Hate to quote myself but can anyone help?

Ok, folks here is my issue: The general membership at Otakon seems to love nothing but Japanese style joysticks. I already have 4 wood joysticks with Happ parts, but I would like to replace the "bat" sticks with the Japanese "gumball." Of course the mounting bolts for the Happ style are already on the stick. Are there any Sanwa or Seimitsu sticks that have universal mounting plates? Or is there a place where I can buy a ball top shaft that fits in a Happ stick?

I skimmed through the srk thread. I think it was because they copied save data or something. PS3 save data is locked so if you the save data and play the game. That is what happens.

Okay I need help guys.

I'm having a hard time taking off the buttons. Every wire is unplug

Edit- TE stick and its my first time doing this.

question about street fighter 4 sticks:
for the joystick, does it move in full circle motion or does it move in square motion or does it move in octagon motion?
I have a tekken 5 stick, and i used to own a hori fighting stick EX2, both joysticks move in square motion, not circle. really hard for 2d fighting games.

Man I am so conflicted on whether to pull the trigger on the TE stick at buy.com or wait for the wireless tekken stick that comes out in october.........

No-brainer.

TE Stick

(unless you've got some aversion to SF and instead love Tekken)

Square gate, standard, baby! Go play SF4 in the arcade, same story (unless you find a custom cabinet). You can get the octagonal gate (Sanwa GT-Y) if you think it'll make you perform better.

loosen the quick disconnects with a knife or something
then once those are off, there are tabs on the side of the button that you need to push in before you pull the button out.

Question for Yes Boss!: Just how many sticks do you own? You have to be the runner up to MM for most sticks owned ever.

also: buy my hrap 3 guys

If I have a SE stick modded with a sanwa stick and buttons, would there be any reason to buy the TE stick? I think the TE stick already has sanwa stick and buttons so except for the shape, the TE and my modded SE would be the same, right?

Nah, there are a ton of folks on SRK that have dozens of these things. I'm just a small-time collector with about twenty from the last year. Also, it is not a lifestyle for me...since I don't really play fighting games much.

That said, I'm pretty concerned I did not make it to San Diego today to get one of those sticks. I was gonna drive down but day passes were no longer available. I'd considered going down and sneaking in (done it plenty of time over the last twenty years and know the Convention Center's weak points) but I decided to just wait till >hopefully< Mad Catz offers the color scheme without all the limited numbering brouhaha and Comic Con logo on the box.

It is also a bad time for me now with a couple of KoF sticks arriving next week and then the Black Wii the following week.

yeah, I have no deep-seated affection towards tekken. So the parts inside the TE stick trump the fact that the Tekken stick is wireless (although I guess now that I think about it....wireless doesn't really matter that much in an arcade stick)

Hey guys, I'm looking to put some artwork on my SE stick, but I'm not very good at drawing/photoshopping/ms painting stuff.

Would any resident artists be willing to help me come up with a custom piece? I can send you a game :D I don't have anything complicated in mind, pretty simple actually.

There is no denying that that Tekken bundle is sweet (new Hori mold, wireless) but who knows what is inside it yet. TE is where it is at right now unless you can wait till October and get one of the high-end HRAP SA/SEs, which saves a small bit of money and you won't have to deal with the SF branding...but the branding on the current TE is very low-key and elegant anyways. By October there should be even more product from Mad Catz to choose from, methinks. Lots of options.

yeah, i'm thinking that I might just hold out. By then I could probably find one of the SFIV TE sticks for even cheaper **Crosses fingers** and also have the choice to see what parts end up being in the wireless Tekken one.

The little Mad Catz SE is great too. That little Tatsunoko on above is hot, hOT, HOT! I'd buy two of those...just as they appear if they get released. The SE is my favorite Mad Catz product by a long-shot. I'm collecting those little guys.

Just reposting (w/ stealth edit) for the new page

i've played 3rd strike, CVS2, marvel vs capcom 2 on actual arcade. their joysticks are circle gated.
never thought square gate is standard now days. i thought it's just for 3d fighters.
guess i have to live with that, thanks anyway.

It's just because a lot of arcades now adays have machines imported from Japan, which have square gates. The MadCatz sticks also popularized them as well.
