i sold my old TE stick...now considering an HRAP EX or getting another one. I have an SE. Can owners of the TE and HRAP give me their opinions? I know its just a preference thing but still :p
I prefer the TE to the HRAP EX. TE is full Sanwa, has cable storage, and nowadays is the same price as the HRAP EX.

So you sold the best stick out on the market and you're looking for opinions? :lol
:p yes i wasn't really getting the hang of it and my friend wanted it so I let him have it.
Ah cable storage - i forgot! I never really liked the look of the TE.
In terms of feel and lap play are they the same? Never tried the HRAP.

Between the TE and HRAP, HRAP feels a little cheap unless you swap out the buttons. They're both good sticks, just that the TE feels more professional if that makes sense.

_dementia said:
The only thing I prefer about the HRAP is the button layout (as long as the farthest right ones are plugged).

That's why I think VSHG is the sex.

A'men to that brother. I may sell my sealed Xenogears copy for another VSHG. I can't stand the TE stick anymore.....But sometimes I love her.....I'm treating the TE stick like a ex-girlfriend you keep fucking, lol.

Wow, this thread is long...

I finally have a friend coming over from the states, so I will probably buy a new stick because I can't find a cheap, reliable way to connect my old DC/PS2 stick to an old xbox360(some help here?). I think I'm going to get a Capcom fightstick, but I'm not sure which one. Price is a big factor here, so if anyone can help me:
- Is the difference between the arcade and TE fightstick that big?
- Is the TE worth the price?
- Finally, I've heard you can mod an arcade fightstick "into" a TE, how hard is it, how hard is it to find the required parts and how much does it cost?

Thanks in advance!

holy crap! they lowered the price on the TE? whoa. and its full Sanwa which makes the deal much sweeter.

im in desperate need of a new stick, but i own so many older models ive been hesitating to take the plunge. this is pushing me a lot closer to the edge though.

Yeah, I don't know if it's a universal drop, but Amazon and Buy.com sell it for $130 with free shipping. Fry's sells it for $110 at brick an mortar stores IIRC, but that might be a temporary sale.

what do you mean by "arcade"? If you mean between the SE and TE, the TE is way better out of the box. If you can get the TE at around $100-$130, like it has been lately, it IS worth the price, at least imo.

It is pretty easy to mod the SE if you like the smaller base (and no soldering involved to swap it out!) but with all the extra parts, it's going to run you about $50 more to replace with sanwa parts... which makes it to about the TE's price.

THANK YOU. I thought "arcade" was a part of the name:

I'll make the effort and try to get the TE then. Thanks again!

I just got my TE, and I can't help but think the buttons feel cheap? Am I the only one? What would be nice replacement buttons?

That's how I felt at first coming from a cheapo stick that had a lot rougher buttons. I never want to go back now after playing with the TE stick for awhile. I'm no arcade stick pro but I'm pretty sure they're the best you can get from what I can tell.

If they're too sensitive for you try replacing them with some Seimitsu buttons. PS-14-G, PS-14-GN, PS-14-K, or PS-14-KN work.

Do want! :D

I like the white base, but the rest of it is pretty meh - the artwork design doesn't do anything for me, and as with almost all X360 arcade sticks, I hate the multi-colored buttons. PS3 version might look a bit better if it has uniformly-colored buttons.

Get some grade A "Made in the USA" HAPP buttons, son. If that's to rugged for you, get some Seimitsu buttons. I could tolerate Seimitsu buttons, but not Sanwa at all. Those buttons are to freaking sensitive, like a Asian girl pu-tang. I'm going to be tight if MarkMan doesn't include HAPP parts to the Marvel stick. Because that my friend, would be a freaking crime.

i might be able to get a Hori Fighting Stick tomorrow for my 360
was looking for some opinions
are they easily moddable?

No, those are a pain. You have to desoder the buttons in order to replace them. If you want to put the work into it, go for it.

Buttons stick and after that you need to fit everything in a confined space. Not worth it at all. When I modded mine it was a pain in the ass.

Better off buying a Madcatz TE or SE. TE if you can grab it for a good price.

Sanwa parts are not cheap so don't forget you might only have to pay a bit extra to grab a better quality stick.

Don't let a logo stop ya from owning a good stick!

What's up with the funny color scheme of the buttons? Orange buttons and ball would match really well with the white color scheme of the case and art. :)

Now, sits back and waits for MARVEL stick baby. ;)

well this hori stick is gonna cost me £45
i was gonna get the tekken 6 one but after seeing it was wireless and not a good build

Microsoft spec, look at all the other 360 sticks in Japan. X_X

Well, I have had two of these sticks shit out on me man. Just be careful when you buy em. I'd save up and buy a better quality stick.

Haha, that is crazy. Overall the stick looks nice.

I think you guys are for sure going to give Hori a run for their money. Hopefully, this sparks a healthy comp between both companies.

hmm i know im asking a lot of questions but whats the best stick for a guy whos just starting out
i mean with a stick not fighters in general
for modding etc

Any of the current sticks on the market are decent for modding. Some of them are tougher than others, are you looking for a larger size stick (HRAP size +) or something smaller? (Hori Fighting Stick EX2) etc.

Is there a guide on the different tactility of buttons and sticks between the three manufactures?
Would be nice to get an idea how each one responds before buying.

well i want a stick i can either rest on my legs or on a table
ive just spotted a mad catz sf4 fight stick on amazon
whats the general opinion on those

Yeah, I think it looks pretty neat. I'm all for the colorful buttons and it is nice to have a date. I don't speak japanese so all I see is 360 at the famistsu link. Is this stick also coming for the PS3?

I think the multi-colored buttons subtract from the beauty of the thing
Strange, because I think the EX-SE looks fine. Must be the black rims around the plungers. lol

YAY! Lizard Lick finally shipped my order. I ordered on Aug 8th...

Yes, I know it's 2 guys working their asses off, so I never bugged them with a "where's my order" email.

I'll post a picture of my Walking Dead HRAP3 mod when complete.

I kinda wish MadCatz wasn't heading down the dark road of region specific sticks. :(

Yeah, I would actually probably buy one if they were released here. Not going to bother with import price hike and shipping charges. Mad Catz's loss I guess.

So, after months of looking for one, I finally found the 360 FSTE for sale in a Swedish store. Naturally I ordered it immediately so I should be getting it sometime next week.

Better late than never, eh?

Where, if I might ask, was this?

Do not like the multi-color buttons. Looks silly. Should be all white.

I was talking to Markman about this (and subsequently made a thread in Shoryuken, lol) but I was wondering, who would be interested in commissioning custom art for their Arcade Stick?

Ive done my fair share of fanart, including one of the Inside Covers for SF IV (not gonna post the damn image again, thats spam!) Along with other stuff

I always see people having to resort to Official art for their sticks, but I think a collaboration could result in some pretty cool shit. Just PM me if youd be interested, thanks!

The coloured buttons make sense for 360 and look good but what is the Y button doing up there?

wish I could say the same for the art why don't Mad Catz run a competition - winner gets a prize (free stick etc.). I'm certain the community would produce results that any potential buyer would love. (even if there are printing restrictions on number of colours)

Raging Spaniard yours is also a good idea/approach..

I think it's a MS mandate. The EX2 and 2nd run of HRAP EXes are the same way.
Markman also confirms this in one of his above posts.

I was looking for someone to do some art, but I'm out of work right now so it depends on the price. Until then I just stole some stuff from Triumvir/Deviantart for my stick art :)

Btw, how many hours did you spend on the SFIV (inside) cover art? Looks good!

Well, whenever you feel up to it, Im all ears :)

That piece took about 5 days more less .. not in terms of hours though. Worked on it after I was done with work, shit like that, so its hard to quantify it hours wise (probably around 20?). Glad you like it!

I just clicked your link and noticed you've worked for some studios in Utah... You from around Salt Lake? You should come to our SFIV ranbat this weekend. Should be about 35-45 people there. Some BlazBlue also. Could hustle your artwork.

Hey, that trippy Gum wallpaper would make for excellent stick art.

I was considering a JSR theme too but I have come to prefer simple designs without character art on my sticks. My dualmodded PS360 TE rocks simple Vewlix clone art and insignia.

Sure would. I'll put that into consideration.

I think the new color layout is to take another stab at Hori. :lol
