Yeah, i know, maybe it´s not pretty, but the stock parts are good, really good sanwa clones[/QUOTE]
Q: Are the parts any different/improved from the SF4 SE sticks?

Guys, I'm trying to get my hands on a PS3(pref)/360 Hori VLX PRO but I'm having a tough time getting one to the UK. Both amazon US and gamestop US don't accept my card, does anyone know of anywhere else reputable which reasonable prices where I could get one?

All I want is the Super Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition S PS3 in black. I regret not buying one a year ago. Now I can't even find one on ebay! The only place I see one available is on amazon through some third-party for $250 used. OUCH. Any ideas or recommendations?

They are sold in the SRK Trading Outlet pretty regularly at more reasonable prices. I found my TE-S there for about $180.

ok. I just ordered a MvC3 stick direct from madcatz. they were offering a labor day 10% discount with free shipping, and that gets me a NEW stick as opposed to a used one. What do you guys think about modding this with black buttons and a black bat top stick? I'm not the biggest fan of white buttons.

^ Change the bezel while you're at it. I put a white bezel and it went well with the white buttons :3

Here's mine:

my other option is to get a RED aluminum bat top and black buttons. What about THAT?
If you are gonna keep the red bezel, a red bat top and black buttons would be a nice look. Either way would be good though.

That was enough to convince me. I just ordered 6 black sanwa buttons and the Aluminum Bat Top in Red. DROOOLLLL.

It's been in the back of my mind to look into dual modding my HRAP EX-SE but from what I understand I'd have to gut the Hori pcb and use some other common ground 360 pcb + cthulhu/chimp/etc. I don't mind making this into a lengthy side project. How should I go about doing this?

Any good Ps3 sticks on Amazon for 50 bucks? (Got a gift card with no idea what to spend it on)

First time stick buyer here. Looking to use it for SFIV and Marvel 3

Unfortunately nothing for $50 or under is very good. The WWE brawl stick is quite decent, but that's $20 more.

Pick up a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom stick and a Mayflash Classic Controller to USB adapter. The resulting cable is really short, mind you, so you may need a USB extension cable as well, depending on your setup.

The TvC stick uses the same parts as the BrawlStick, and you save $20+ at the cost of a short cable and a small amount of fidgeting with the adapter to make L and R work properly. It's a good deal!

You might want to look into PS360+. The previous version had a few issues and the new one has been delayed for quite some time (supposedly a Q3 release according to the latest info). Supports HD twins and is solderless.

Okay, arcade stick gaf. I have an odd problem.

I bought two 16' feet USB cords to use with my customs. The same exact cords.

All of my customs use Toodles boards.

So I plug in my stick to my 360 slim using my new 16' foot cord. I'm like, fuck yeah, I'm so far away from my TV. This shit is awesome.

But it doesn't work. Perplexed, I plug the stick into my ps3. Works fine. Try it in my PC. Works fine. Try it in an old 360. Works fine. All with the same cord that didn't work in my slim.

I try a shorter USB cord with my 360 slim and the same stick. Works fine.

I then try the 2nd 16' cord I bought with the same stick and put it in my 360. That works fine.

So now I'm confused. Does anybody have an explanation as to why this would happen?

I wouldn't say installing an MC Cthulhu is very hard.

I think I can do it! I've changed batteries on arcade boards! Er, sure this works with PS2 sytems? The one I found is PC/PS3 only. I just wish there was an easier way to play CvS2 with an arcade stick. It doesn't work very well on a software BC PS3.

The MC in MC Cthulhu stands for "multi-console". Are you looking at the right one?

Yeah, got it. It says for PC/PS3 in the title, but the description mentions other consoles. I'll have to do a bit more research when I'm not at work. Thanks for the help!

Hello guys,

I need a helluva tough spring for a Seimitsu LS-32. I ordered a replacement spring, which I thought was a higher tension from Lizard Lick, and it's not. It's just the same damned sissy spring.

My aluminum bat top weighs a ton! And it feels good in my hand. The problem is it is kind of heavy for the feeble spring in the LS-32 and as a result the stick doesn't resist enough. Sneeze and you get an input.

Can you snag springs from Lowes or Home Depot for these things?

Input appreciated. Thanks.

So we have 2 Xbox 360 sticks in my house. What do I need to do to make them work on PS3?
What model? If they're MadCatz TE sticks, Toodles makes a PCB called the TE Kitty that turns a 360 stick into a PS3/360 stick without a single drop of solder.

If you haven't already tried it, you can always double-up on springs. You can probably keep adding until you get the right feel.

You also have the option of the Teasy Strike. TS is a little cheaper but the Kitty has the added bonus of being able to drop in an RJ45 jack for pretty much any console you want.

You're literally in the same situation I was in, except that I like how it has the looseness that the JLF does (combination of aluminum battop and LS-32-01). To me it feels just right, though I may add another spring to tighten it a little once I've worn it in more. You can, indeed, just get a spring from Lowes or Home Depot if you like, but make sure it's the right circumference.

Hi Stick-GAF.

Finally taking the plunge on this. I'm not really that large of a fighter enthusiast but my shmupping needs to be taken up a notch. Daifukkatsu looms close.

So. I'd like a TE stick. Preferably 360 so I can do one of these mods to it so I can work it with my PS3 and/or PC.

Problem: I live in Canada. Stores that ship here are kinda hit or miss.

I'd also prefer either the Marvel or Street Fighter versions of the stick because the black base is much nicer than the (to me at least), unattractive MLG finish. Swapping out the art seems easy enough so that's not too big of an issue, personally.

There's also those Qanba sticks. They aren't bad looking, but how are they for build quality or ergonomics?

Pointers on where to start looking for buying something would be super duper, if anyone's got any. Or suggestions to abandon the TE thing and go with the Qanba product, or whatever.

Thanks!

A 360 TE would be a fine choice, and probably the easiest to find overall. No modding is necessary to use it on PC, and you can add PS3 compatibility with the TE Kitty or Teasy Strike PCBs mentioned above, all without soldering or cutting anything.

Qanba's sticks have no problems that I know of when it comes to ergonomics or build quality, and they use Sanwa arcade parts just like MadCatz' TE sticks. They do have interesting gray-market PCBs that work on PC, 360, and PS3 right out of the box.

As far as places to look, I recommend you register on Shoryuken, check out their trading post forum, and see if any sellers there will ship to Canada. The Buy/Sell/Trade thread in the community forum here on GAF also gets arcade sticks on occasion.

Orayn gives good advice, though I want to add that if you want a stick primarily for shooters, I would recommend going with a Seimitsu LS-32 as your joystick lever instead of the Sanwa JLF. General consensus is that the JLF is wonderful for fighters, but the LS-32 works great with both fighting games and shooters.

Both the TE and Qanba come with Sanwa joystick lever + buttons stock, but it's really easy to replace any TE parts with Seimitsus.

Also, maybe check out Canadian Joysticks? Canada Cup used to sell Mad Catz sticks, but they're all out of stock, so they're the only Canadian store I know of atm...

Gonna second this. LS-32 is much, much better for shooters than the JLF. I enjoy the JLF for fighters, but like LS-32 much more for shooters.

Same for me, I also prefer Seimitsu buttons for shooters and Sanwa for fighters so I have a dedicated Seimitsu stick for shooters. Rather than buying a Sanwa stick and modding it with Seimitsu parts I think Hori has a line of sticks with all Seimitsu parts that you may want to look into, I want to say it's the EX line (I have the EX SE but AFAIK it's not made anymore, but I think they have an iteration of their current VX SA in a Seimitsu flavor, though I can't find it on amazon). I will say though that I don't think the solderless dual mods we mentioned work on Hori sticks with the exception of the VLX because there is a Kitty board made for that.

Seimitsu LS-32

Interesting. Is this because the LS-32 has a shorter throw?

I've checked a handful of retailers that tend to ship to Canada and all are out. I think it might be best to order a TE and then get the LS-32 from lizard lick.

Luckily I have talked to an American friend of mine and should worse come to worst, I can buy a TE from a retailer that ships to America and bounce it off him. Double shipping might be a bitch but in the end it'll probably be worth it if I have to resort to that.

I'd prefer one of the Marvel or second run of the original ones just for the black base, but I can't find those in stock anywhere. In terms of American places to check, anyone got an idea? When I get home from work I'll check into signing up for SRK, if that's my only recourse.

I'm considering selling my Hori HRAP-EX with full Sanwa, what's a fair asking price for this guy?

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee201/esnelpla/DSC_2420-1.jpg

This was the stick I had been using for a couple years before finally upgrading to a TE stick.

Had done the Sanwa button mods and everything, and while it was a great stick with the changes, it was still feeling too small.

Guess it depends on your location and the ease of getting a stick and what people will pay for, but I sold mine for 110$. Would've been nice to get more considered what I paid for it 2 years and a half years ago. But considering you can the base model fairly cheap, and the cost of the mods. I thought 110 was a reasonable price to sell it.
