Does anyone have a solution to carry a fightstick around in a bag without damaging the joystick? I want to make a foam box enclosure thing, but I don't want to spend hours cutting foam cause cutting foam sucks ass.

Anyone try the madcatz bags?

MarkMan,

How is stock on the PS3 Tekken X SF sticks? My computer here won't work with Gameshark Store and I'm waiting till I get to the states in a week before I can order. Do you think I'll make it? I've been checking stock every few days since release and now I see the 360 as sold out...getting concerned for the other.

Good question.
Was going to ask if a HRAP3 would fit into the MadCatz messenger bag.

Any suggestions for what to do in regards to a plexi for a round2 when applying custom art? Is it better to get a plexi or use glossy stickers?

Tek-innovations plexi all day. If for no other reason than you can use regular cardstock paper over the metal panel and change art at will.

The fact that you can get it intricately etched with button labels, artwork, etc. is a bonus.

Just got Pearl a few days ago.
I must say that this is the best stick I ever tried.

I only replaced 4 buttons with Seimitsu PS-14-K as I am trying to see which of the two feels better.
I must say that bat top feels a lot better than ball top.
I still need to put LS-32-01 in.

I'm looking for a PSX/PS2 stick. Ideally I'd want to mod it with Seimitsu/Sanwa parts, or for the components to be as high quality as possible. I don't want to buy another HRAP, so the choices I've narrowed it down to are the Namco Arcade Stick, and leave it stock, or buy a cheap Mayflash stick and mod it with legit components. What say you GAF? Or if you have any recommendations I'll take 'em.

If you're feeling adventurous you could try tracking down a Konami Hyperstick. It's a PS1 stick with full Seimitsu parts, but they're definitely hard to come by these days.

Why not just get a HRAP?

No more room in my closet. :(

Also, I'd prefer a smaller case. HRAP's are too bulky for comfy couch playing.

This might not be of much help, but you could also look into buying a custom made stick.
There are a bunch of people over at SRK that builds and sell them.

If size and space is an issue then yeah, go with the Namco. I have one myself and even with the stock parts they're quite nice.

Not sure if this is something you'd be interested in, but a guy in SRK's tech talk has made a replacement JLF shaft that unscrews from the base, just for this purpose.

With all the parts and stuff available from places like eTokki and Focus Attack, I could build my own. I don't need it to be a serious thing, since I don't play PSX/PS2 arcade ports that much anymore.

I was interested in the Namco stick since the Seimitsu part I want to try is the LS-40, and the stock Namco part is allegedly very similar. That would be good enough for some bullshit rounds of Gun Frontier or Growl from Taito Legends 2. Although now that I've seen a Hyper Stick, I might just pull some YAJ/Tenso voodoo magic. But the exchange rate is killing my dreams.

@kevo_huevo:
I used akihabarashop.jp in the past, but they seemed pretty slow. Around a month to ship a balltop and some buttons. There is also arcadeshop.de, who look like they actually keep stock, but they're likely in Europe, so international shipping times and rates also apply. There is also eTokki.com, but that selection is a little limited. Great for Korean parts. I've never used them though, and I have no idea where they're based. Lizardlick is the best domestic source I think.

You have any experience with paradise? It seems to be the only place with an LS40-01 in stock (LL is empty and FA doesn't have them) that doesn't take forever to ship stuff out (Aki).
No personal experience, but a friend ordered from there for a custom and had no complaints.

Good to hear. I just ordered a couple of things from there (LS-40-01 incoming!) to see how it goes compared to the others.

Nice pick-up. When you get it post some impressions. I'm looking to make that my next stick purchase.

I definitely will. My plan is to try it out as-is and see how it goes and if it's not quite to my liking I'll do the "LS-36" mod with it and the LS-32-01 I already have.

Hawt

So, stick-gaf, I've got a request. I'm not usually into fighting games, but I was planning on picking up a stick when UMVC 3 comes out. I'm looking for something that's around or under 150 dollars and that can be bought via Amazon or in a store. Any suggestions?

What console do you want it for?

Just get a MadCatz Tournament Edition stick of any variety. Those are decent.
If you don't like those, get a Qanba stick.

Basically, if you can confirm that the use Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons/joystick, it's good

360. I was thinking about the Catz tournament stick. I've got a friend who makes sticks, so if I get really into it I'll have her make a whole new one with a converter and whatnot, but I just need something to learn with

Definitely a TE. They're quality stuff and a great gateway drug into modding.

The Mad Catz TE, Qanba Q4RAF, and Hori VX-SA are all available within that price range. The TE is very easy to mod and has lots of aftermarket parts available, The Qanba is PS3/360 compatible right out of the box, and the VX-SA is lighter, slimmer, and maybe a little less expensive than the others. They'd all be great, though.

New case from Hori, huh? Interesting that the PS3 version has USB ports for a headset and a keyboard.

Also, they need to stop putting random character art collages on their licensed sticks! What happened to the cleaner design like the SC3 HRAP?

I have a friend who wants to get a custom stick, but finding someplace on the net has been troublesome. The links on the front page don't work anymore. Can someone direct me to a good site. I live in the US and am looking for customization. He is handicapped and has limited use of his hands, so the stick he has now is not optimal. He's playing on a Retro Duo - a NES/SNES clone, so I might need an adapter or something if it's possible.

Hit up the tech talk forum over at Shoryuken.com and ask around. Somebody will know where to send you.
