Went NEC this past weekend, and got to rock the Soul stick from, MC. And the Hori one. The HORI one looks way better in person. I'm getting it. The MC one, is too sexy. I knew it look good, but damn, not that good. The Astro City layout is a HUGE plus. I like the Hori one better because the stick is further away from buttons.

Is that true? They look equidistant to me. Namco gave the same dimensions to both companies from what I understand.
Perhaps MarkMan can clarify.

I was at NEC this weekend too, obviously. I've seen with/played with the SCV Hori stick in the past and being close friends with Namco (and Hori) I was able to do my studying up in advance.

The button layout looks the same, but the Mad Catz one is slightly further out (distance between stick and buttons; measured from center of ball top to the first button center). We used the exact Namco Noir file from Namco to create the metal panel for the SOUL Edition TE.

Too many black sticks. Need more white sticks. I'd like that new Hori in white.

Hi Kadey. I'm with you on that however not many companies request a white arcade stick, it's almost always black.

Maybe we can do a special edition/exclusive of one of our new sticks in white? Hmm.

Oh and as a general rule of thumb, especially with stock photos of arcade sticks.

That shit almost always looks way better in person.

I am sure people here are aware of this already but you ever think of ordering a fightstick or anything from VideoGameCentral in Queens, NY ... Prepare to get ripped off.

So true. Once again, good job on the stick. And props to the SC devs, those guys are chatty as hell, fun guys.

Thanks! Yes, Utoh-san and Odashima-san are awesome guys. Odashima-san always looks sleepy to me lol.

I'll let them know you gave them props when I visit them at their offices next week.

Okay, so before I shell out some more money, what is a plexi that will actually fucking fit the round 1 TE stick in a fashion so that the bezel will still fit too?

I'm really starting to get annoyed at this whole plexi pannel business. I just bought some Seimitsu PS-15 buttons, but it looks like the clips are too shallow to fit through a metal plate+plexi pannel. Too bad, 'cause they feel super nice. Convex like Sanwa, but with a stiffer spring.

well, apparently it's limited to 500, so worst case scenario you might be able to resell it for what you paid
My only beef with those fusion sticks, is. That the Start, Select/Back, Turbo an Guide button, are in the top. Instead of having them on the back like their non-dual modded sticks. And two, no detachable USB as well. I really like the elegance of their non-dual modded sticks.

This has been bugging me for a while, but:
why do all 360 sticks have a layout like

B X Y LB
A LT RT RB

while ps3 sticks have layouts that correspond to the placement of the face buttons on a dual shock? Even with licensed sticks for the same game, the layout always seems to have this discrepancy.

Microsoft mandate. Default DOA layout must have started it, as that was the first fighter on the platform.

I absolutely hate that layout! I re-wired my MLG TE to the original TE layout.

I know at least the Chun TE-S has the standard layout of:

X Y RB LB
A B RT LT

I know most of the Hori sticks have the other format though. I'm not sure about any of the other Madcatz 360 sticks though.

Yeah, I remember MarkMan mentioning there is some leeway if the stick is licensed for a certain game which explains the MvC and SF TE/SE stick layouts

Ah, should've guessed. :P

On another topic: would an LS56 would fit in either of these SCV sticks? Markman?

I have LS-56 sticks in my HRAP3 and TEs. If the Hori one is like the HRAP3's then an LS-56 will plug straight in. If the MC one is similar to it's predecessors, then you'll need to drill some holes into the mounting plate to get it to fit.

I love this thread BTW. Don't know if I ever said it before...

I have a question for you, I am wanting to get a Tournament edition stick for PS3 and I was thinking of the MVC3 one but would you recommend going for the Soul Caliber Stick or Street Fighter X Tekken? Anything I should keep an eye out for?

When do the MC SC5 sticks go on sale? I need a new TE and think that one would do nicely. Also, any plans for a limited edition version, similar to the Femme Fatale or BlazBue sticks?

The only significant differences will be the case designs. All will be full Sanwa, so buy whatever design you like best.
You could probably get a great deal on a lightly used stick over on Shoryuken.com's forum.

So what's the real difference between levered microswitches and non-levered? Like why have levers on them in the first place as the JLF proves you don't need them. While I have and love my LS-40, I played with the JLF knockoff in the Madcatz Brawlstick (brilliant stick by the way) and it remains a very sensitive stick without the levers. Just curious.

I always assumed the levers were there for enhanced durability, absorbing the impact from the actuator, and keeping the actual switch alive longer. I also feel the levers add to the "feel" of the throw by adding resistance. Love that Seimitsu stiffness.

Yerrr.... I'm still waiting on my Sanwa parts from Lizardlick. Been a few weeks now. Anyone ever order from them before?

People have been having a lot of trouble with them lately, check SRKs LL thread. I used 'em twice, and both packages arrived in 3-4 days.

I don't know if you can cancel or not but if you're having issues I'd recommend ordering from focusattack (assuming they have what you're looking for). The other week I ordered the new OBSC's on a Sunday, they were at my house across the country on Wednesday. The guy was also super helpful, there was an issue when I was trying to check out using paypal and I couldn't place my order again for whatever reason (issue with the entry in their db) so he sent me a separate invoice within a couple hours of me e-mailing them.

This. Focusattack customer service is super.

But again, I wouldn't order plexi's or anything made by focusattack. He also left out a spring in my order, which he promptly re-sent, but still.

I would never order plexiglass.

Personally I find Focusattack's stock selection very limited, but that doesn't change the fact the guy is super helpful and quick with email replies.

I noticed when I was about to order some parts a few weeks ago that most of their stuff was pre-order or just plain out of stock and saw in the SRK thread about there being almost no contact with them for a good while. It's a shame because I swore by them in the past for having great service and speed.

then I ordered my stuff from paradise arcade and it all went just as smoothly.

I was just about to start talking mess about Paradise Arcade Shop, and wouldn't you know the mailman dropped the box off. Took one week to get to me, but they did take two weeks to ship out my order though (after I sent an email). YMMV.

This LS-40 is super clicky. Haven't mounted it a case yet, but I like the feel so far. Doesn't seem stiffer than a LS-32 but the engage is super quick.
