By template I mean a layout of where the buttons and sticks are located so that I can make some custom art for the stick, is that something you buy? Doesnt sound right, Im probably using the wrong word (English being my 3rd language and all..)
Yeah that's what I meant :p Madcatz supposedly said they'll have templates ready around launch.

Edit:

How/Where do we print out these templates? I want to make one too!

anyone know if plungers from Seimitsu PS-14-GN 30mm buttons happen to fit with Sanwa OBSN-30 buttons?

or in other words, is there a way to get this effect, where the art continues on the buttons, with sanwa buttons?

You'd have to do some level of modification to get it to work.

You would need to widen the hole, rotate the hole 90 degrees and make it deeper so it reaches the male end on the Sanwa.

For a proper SF4 stick are 8 face buttons needed? I have the hori ex2 and it only has 6 face buttons and LB, RB are mapped to smaller buttons on the top of the thing.

Thanks for any advice.

I can't think of a better thread to ask this question...

So here goes another one. I'm picking up the MadCatz 360 TE stick when SFIV drops, but was trying to think of what other games would be great with an arcade stick other than just the few fighters I play (Soul Calibur 4 and SF2HD.) I've got Ikaruga on my 360, which I think would be great with a stick, and I've got Pac-Man CE, which should also play well with an arcade stick.

Question being - What are some other good XBLA games that work great with an arcade stick? AND/OR - What are some other good 360 games in general, that would benefit from being played with an arcade stick. Since the thing is 150 dollars, I wanna' make it worth the money!

Thanks!

edit: Oh flip. I forgot I have Alien Hominid. Fun game, but I'm awful at it.

no, SF4 is a six-button game

excluding other fighting games, RezHD, Streets of Rage 2, Ikaruga, Metal Slug 3, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Pac-Man: CE.

I was looking at the TE stick from mad catz and it has the 8 button layout. So when building my own I'll just move the RT and LT off to the side so it goes:

X Y RB
A B RT

with the LB and LT on top of the stick near the start buttons. Does that sound right?

The Hori EX2 stick has:

B X Y
A LT RT

So I hope theirs some button configure screens to set that up right or it could get confusing really fast.

I can't remember any home version of a SF game that didn't come with a button config screen even the Genesis/MD version had one. I don't think that's going to change now since none of the current consoles' pads have a 6-button layout.

There is. You can see it in the 1UP game night video.

New XCM adaptor will allow to use a PS3 controller on the Xbox 360

XCMLive has just informed us of a new product that should be available towards the end of February. The cross fire converter is an adaptor which will allow you to use a PS3 controller on the Xbox 360, more functions will be announced at a later date.

:O

guess I'll ask again.Does anyone know of a good fold away stand to use mostly for joystick play?
Edit:Markmans stand for reference :lol

Small rant:

you know what's dumb? Last year in December, I went to Gameflop to preorder (and pay in full for) one of the MadCatz TE sticks, and I was told that the SKU wasn't in the system yet.

I went back there last week, and the woman working there told me that the stick "got a price drop" from $150 to $80 (-_-).

What also sucks is that the cash I would've used for the stick is gone now (because of some stupid crap that happened on New Years Day), so I'm stuck using my DOA Hori and it's failing jab button.

Is it true that Amazon doesn't charge your card until the item ships (for pre orders)? Because I pre ordered the Persona 4 social link package last year and it charged my card when I placed the order. Otherwise I would have ordered it thru amazon from the first day they had it available.

so you can shut up now, since you found a place to pre-order the stick

The PS3 HRAP3 is now listed for $89 at Amazon.com for anyone looking to get a good deal on it. That's a drop of $10 from the original $100 price.

edit: Just checked and the Xbox stick is still at $129. Why the hell is Hori charging $40 more for the Xbox HRAP stick? They are identical, barring the system-specific home buttons and the like, right? Surely Hori doesn't think a headphone jack on the Xbox stick warrants an extra $30+ on the price over the PS3 stick. That's just ridiculous.
As I readed somewhere, Microsoft royalties are more expensive.

I'm new with good arcade sticks, and just preordered the Hori SFIV PS3 arcade stick. Will buy a MadCatz TE when available (with shipments to non-UK Europe).

I have a question. Does HRAP3 has headphone jack? Or is it only available in the Xbox version?

Thanks. Another question about it. Is it wireless or do you need to have the USB cable always plugged?

A couple of questions more, now about MadCatz SFIV TE stick (PS3 version):
· Does it have headphones jack? I would use it for headphones only, since the headset are wireless. I usually play when the people are sleeping.
· Is it wireless or not? I heard the MadCatz SFIV controllers in PS3 are wireless, but not sure about the TE one.

yurinka, where did you preorder Hori SFIV PS3 arcade stick, if you don't mind me asking? That's what I would like to do too and I can't preorder from Amazon.co.uk, since for some idiotic reason they won't do shipments to non-UK EU countries.

In fact, if anyone else can recommend an online shop that ships gaming hardware (the above mentioned stick, that is) to (all) EU countries, that'd be great.

HRAP3 is wired.

There is no headphone jack on any of the MadCatz sticks.
Xbox 360 MadCatz Tounament and Standard edition sticks have headset jacks. These are compatible with the newer 360 wired headsets (the ones without the plastic tabs).
All Madcatz SFIV sticks are wired.

Rez with an arcade stick? Really?

Add Trigger Heart Exelica, and every old-school beat-em-up (Golden Axe, TMNT, Streets of Rage 2, Double Dragon)

In addition to everything mentioned, on the 360, the stick also works well with the puzzle games (Puzzle Fighter, Tetris, Puzzle Quest, etc...). I've gotten a ton of use outta my cheap little EX2. Made the price tag of the TE much easier to swallow.

Then of course you also have GGPO and 2DF on the PC.

This. You can use the 360 stick on the PC, and do you know how many fighting games and schmups you have access to on the PC? MILLIONS I TELL YOU

Personally I'm quite looking forward to playing Touhou games with my TE :D

To the folks looking for a good folding table, you can typically find them in the houseware sections of places like Target and Wal-Mart. I remember buying mine for Beatmania and Pop'n Music at Wal-Mart for about 15 bucks.

If you want to make sure it's definitely going nowhere, you could also get a small roll of anti-slip shelf liner that you typically use inside kitchen drawers. Then you just cut it to the shape of your table and tada, stand complete. It'll most likely still wobble, but its not a bad deal.

The ps3 stick can also be used on the PC, right?

I got an email from USPS Shipping Services, looks like my HRAP EX is on it's way from SNK-CAPCOM. :D

Just in time for Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label!

I really do not understand Hori's compulsion for changing the arrangement of the buttons. Madcatz has the right idea, keeping the placement the same as on the controllers.

That looks like a terrible spot for the microphone jack.
It is.

Hori just doesn't want to spend the money to modify it's standard HRAP shell.

Regardless, it comes with clips you're supposed to attach to the side and run the line so it's not in your way.

Still a silly oversight.

It is funny the way they put the easy-access top screws on the sticks you are most likely not gonna want to mod.

Definitely gonna pick one up and use it exclusively for all the cave shmups arriving this year. What, is this one gonna be $200 at the importers?

_dementia said:
it isn't a headphone jack, its a headset jack (PCM)

terrible location though

Well yeah, that's what I meant, sorry. Where's the jack on MadCatz sticks again?

Soooo I'm thinking about buying the SF4 SE stick to avoid the anxiety I would get for spending 150 euro on the TE. My question is, how awesome is it? I read that the buttons are easily replaceable, but does that mean that I, a total noob, can just buy 8 new ones, pop the old ones out and put the new ones in in a few minutes? Do I even need to replace them? Also, is the SE very light? I'm worried that it'll be hard to play with when I have it on my lap if it's sliding all over the place.

I have an "old" xbox 360 xbox-live wired headset (with plastic tabs). How can I use it on my madcatz SFIV arcade fightstick? Removing the plastic tabs is not an option since I wanna use it on my existing standard xbox360 controllers... Is there some kind of converter to achieve that?

I never realised what those things were for O_O I just tuck the cable under the box, though it does get in the way sometimes.

the regular EX has a JLF right?

If by "regular EX" you mean Hori Real Arcade Pro EX, then yes.

The Hori Fighting Stick EX (Xbox1) and Fighting Stick EX2 (Xbox360) on the other hand have Hori levers.

Those adapters that came with the Rock Band 1 special edition will work, or any other 2.5mm headset jack extension cable.
