I want a HRAP3 SE... would make my decision for a second stick much easier. =/
I think the reason Xbox 360 is getting a Seimitsu edition is because of the shmups.

But SE agnosticism would totally rock.

I have an "old" xbox 360 xbox-live wired headset (with plastic tabs). How can I use it on my madcatz SFIV arcade fightstick? Removing the plastic tabs is not an option since I wanna use it on my existing standard xbox360 controllers... Is there some kind of converter to achieve that?

The SF4 sticks come with an adapter to use the classic PMD style 360 headsets.

Don't worry, MarkMan got ya covered ;)

thats really cool

after the headset port, adapter, and licensing fees, MadCatz must be making much more profit on an individual PS3 TE over a 360 one.

So I'm keeping my HRAP2:SA and I just sold my HRAP3 to a coworker who is heavy into HD Remix right now (I personally don't play it and prefer Alpha or 3rd Strike). I'm really curious though about the SFIV SE stick. I really dig the profile and size of it and wanna know if there's any thorough reviews of it out yet. I know there's plenty for the TE.

Someone wants to trade me SFIV regular stick for DOA4 stick, fair trade?

I'll trade one for some of your systems/TVs :)

Can send today if needed :lol

I'll throw in a fightpad too!

STICK - LS32
BUTTONS - PS-14G
START/BACK - PS-14D

Feb. 5th, 2009!

Count me in for one! Sexy!
Ohhh... that sounds hot and would great against my other HRAP3/TE combo for the PS3. <3 Seimitsu.

I'm not too familiar with Japansese-style sticks, so a couple questions for MarkMan or others:

1. I notice different sticks have slightly different curvature to the button layouts. Do the SFIV TE sticks have exactly the same layout as the SFIV Viewlix(?) cabinets? If so, the arcade layout is just the leftmost six buttons, (the ones w/ more curvature), right?

2. If I wanted to replace the SFIV TE stick's ball top with Sanwa bat-top, do I have to open the case? I might want to switch, but I don't want to void the warranty

3. MadCatz is supposedly releasing some TE stick art templates, but are they going to be offering any skins for sale that don't require you to open the case? I'd love to make custom art, but again, don't want to void the warranty.

Thanks.

Hi! I'll be glad to answer some questins...

1) It is not exactly the same as the original Vewlix. The Vewlix has 7 action buttons. We added the 8th. But yes, the answer is, the left most buttons!

2) You would have to open the case from the top.

3) We will not sell any skins/panels (at least not anytime soon). An art template however will be available by launch.

It is impossible to do this without cracking/removing the shaft cover first.

That method however will work easily on sticks without shaft covers.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'll just get used to the ball-top then.

Hey Markman,

I think it would be really awesome if you wrote up an article about the stick creation process. Who contacted whom first, who campaigned for what parts, how decisions were made, how many hours you worked on it, etc.

Maybe you have a blog with this info somewhere?

It is in the works... almost done with it.

Just a few quick pics for now, lemme know if anyone has any specific questions and I'll try to fill you in tomorrow after I break it in some more.

The d-pad is about the best I've used on a fighting pad so far, better than Ascii FT pads and Saturn fighting pads IMO. It has a very slight soft rubberized surface as compared to hard plastic. Same for the sides and back. Buttons have great feedback, neither too mushy or too springy, and works great in both thumb and overhand grip orientation. L&R buttons a little stiffer than expected out of the box, but I'm not expecting to use them much. Body of the controller is large, but light. It's definitely high quality.

I've been waiting for a great wireless fighting pad and so far it seems worth every penny.

Well...besides Hori store...where else can you order the HRAP EX SE?

I'll double dip for another EX...(he says as Mark pulls his strings).

Probably just NCX and play-asia for around $200. I'm hoping the former gets it so I can save a little on postage. I did email them this afternoon saying I was interested in buying and asked if they plan on getting them but they've not gotten back yet.

Incidentally, my white Sanwa buttons arrived for my forthcoming HRAP EX. Amazon will probably ship them out next week. Arcade Shock also called me to say they finally got them in too for folks in other countries.

You guys gotta make friends with/know ppl in Japan X_X

They're very helpful when things like these arise (arcade sticks) lol.

I've been getting a lot of emails/PMs regarding whether or not the 360 TE stick will work with Third Strike via BC.

Yes it will.

Use this button mapping:

I just realised yesterday that the default button layout on the HRAPEX doesn't work with DOA4 =/ I've have to actually swap wires around to play that game now D:

Doing the same thing :D

My TE Stick preorder was confirmed through Lizard Lick today... AU$320 shipped. OUCH! :D I'd use that on my laptop but I would probably ruin my back carrying that thing around with me all the time. I'm getting the Chun-li pad, now I just have to decide on wireless or wired.

Markman, PS3 TE does not work with PS2 games via BC, correct?

Would 360 TE + Cthulu board is the way to go for 360/PS3/PS2BC/PC in one package?

Pretty sure yes by all accounts. No BC, you'll need a Cthulhu board or similar, unless Sony update (same deal for all the other PS3 arcade sticks, most of which now provide BC).

My Hrap3 works with 3rd Strike on my BC PS3. Id expect the TE stick to be the same.

Another complaint, the TE stick and SE stick for PS3, do not work with PS2 games via BC. If you do want to see them work with BC, please let Sony know. This is the same situation as when the HRAP3 and FS3 first came out (even VSHG), where those sticks didn't work with backwards compatibility.

Maybe we can see that changed in a future firmware update.

Was there a thread discussing the use of 360 controllers on a PS3? I swear there was, but search brings up nothing.

edit: bah, found it. the adapter is $50 and a bit sketchy sounding. I just wanted to test out the Seimitsu stick on the HRAP SE on my PS3 (no 360 yet) - for that price I can buy another stick and buttons and not deal with lag. No deal.
