What's the more preferred stick, the MvC stick or the Round 2? Or are they basically the same thing? Thinking of puttiing my EB credit to good use.

Either way would be good. The Round 2 stick has the upgraded PCB and the slightly different form but performance wise they would be equal. I prefer the form factor on the original TE stick by a little bit but you can't go wrong either way.

Actually, Round 2 is the same form factor and internals as the Round 1 and MvC sticks... just different art. It's the TE S (made for Super's release) that have the slimmer sides, full panel art, and a new PCB (+ the lock switch affects start and select in addition to home).

Round 1: http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4543&idCategory=274

Round 2: http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4696&idCategory=274

Super SF4 TE (TE S): http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4761&idCategory=274

The Round 1 and 2 TEs and the TE S's are all great sticks, can't go wrong with any of 'em. Though with the price drop on the original models, I'd grab one of them instead of a TE S.

Yeah, the naming for all the variations of TE is kinda confusing. ^^;

Wow, I just noticed the SE stick is down to $45 on Amazon. Would it be worth it to pick it up and mod it later? I'm completely an entry-level fighting game enthusiast, I don't own a stick at all, and the only game I have is SFIV, but I'll probably grab SSFIV.

Actually a better deal is to be found at gamestop. They dropped the price of the SE to 39.99 for the PS3 and $49.99 for the XBox360 :)

I picked up two today ;)

No, I don't play Ibuki, but this is what my TE looks like these days.
I painted the bezel and sides. Same dual mod PS360 as before.

oh nose, i think i wasted money on a ps3 fightstick (for use on my pc). i read reviews/comments that said it would work, the faqs @ srk said it would work... but now i'm seeing that it all depends on the chipset. it seems i'll have to buy a usb card for it to work =\

i would have just paid a little extra for a 360 stick (if it would work w/ my system).

The one I'm selling above works on PC...I modded it by sticking a Sixaxis inside it. Selling for $50 because it's kinda dinged and am going to dual mod later on.

Special deal for gaf <3

Hit me up via PM for details, I'll do a Super SF4 stick for $100 shipped. (US only).

Have a good rest of the weekend.

Does anyone have any tips/guidelines for printing out artwork? I've been to Kinko's twice now and either the material isn't quite what I wanted or I screw it up when cutting and applying it.

I've got a Fightstick SE if that helps.

Hey all,

Looking to mod my mushihimesama stick for Super Street Fighter IV. I'm going to be heading down to Akihabara to pick up some pink / purple sanwas to replace the stock hori buttons but was curious about the LS-32 stick. I'm sticking with Seimitsu since I'll still be playing MHS (and adding Deathsmiles / Guwange), but I want to swap the ball top to match by new buttons. Can you add a sanwa ball top to a seimitsu stick or do I need to go seimitsu / seimitsu?

Ibuki stick

That Ibuki art is pretty hot. I tried checking it out yesterday but the img files weren't popping up. I'm thinking of doing something similar though more in bamboo to match my Mushihime-green RAP3.

I was in the same boat. I followed the advice of the folks over in the SRK forums, but using Kinko's lami-label stuff didn't work out well for me (after two tries). And the employees at the only Kinko's near me all really suck. Bad. I had to tell them how to do their job (and I barely know what I'm doing).

Anyway, I went to an independent copy shop. They found a creative alternative to the finicky lami-label. They used regular sticky-sided paper (a giant 8.5x11 sticker) to print my artwork. Then they put thin laminate over that. They sliced all four sides at the edges. Then, when I got home, all I had to do was peel off the back of the laminate and the sticky part was exposed. Worked much better for me than lami-label. Still a couple of bubbles, but otherwise worked. I'll post a pic a little later.

Yup you can, I have the same stick and swapped out the stock ball top for the Sanwa LB-35.

Lookin good _dementia.

Does anyone know what size screws are used for the back plate on an HRAP3? No one on SRK has answered my question.

That hasn't been announced for a US release, if I'm not mistaken.
Besides, it's practically a reskinned Fighting Stick EX2. Not worth it IMO.

Oh, it's most certainly worth it. For one, IMO the form factor/size is perfect. This is coming from someone that likes rather compact sticks and abhors huge ones. Secondly, I have an old EX2 that has a shot PCB. The VX is much more mod friendly and will accept a JLF with no modding required IIRC.

The inside is much cleaner and the PCB is a lot less cluttered.

I like it.

Double check your connections. Then check them again. If all the connections are right and proper, your stick is probably busted.

Are you using the standard 5-pin cable?.
If so, follow the colors and PCB orientation on this diagram, keeping in mind where the pins are pointing:

You might just need to turn the PCB itself.

What stick is this? The 5-pin is probably put on upside down. Or you need to rotate the PCB (which has been said).

i already rotated the PCB, 90 degrees CC. i guess the thing is just broken :\

stick is LS-32-01

Do you have a multimeter or circuit tester to test if the microswitches aren't engaging properly for sure? Sucks if your LS-32 really was d.o.a. :(

Hey guys!

Is there a way to make my stick work on PS3, or make my friend's Arcade Stick work on 360?

I know of some adapter that apparently works on PS3, but is there something else?

Thanks!

There are no lagless PS3 to 360 or vice versa adapters available. To get a 360 or PS3 stick to work on the other system, you have to install another PCB - aka dual-mod your joystick.

It's easiest to install a PS3 board (like the Cthulhu or ChImp) to a 360 stick:

If you're not confident in your soldering skills, you may be able to find someone near your area to dual-mod your stick for you with a little searching on SRK.

Hiya.
I think I'm kind of interesting in picking up an arcade stick for my PS3 (bonus points if it works on my PS2 as well). I haven't owned one since Capcom's Power Stick for the SNES (it was called something like that), so clearly my standards are not high.
I'd like something solid and cheap, and have no real for something uber-top of the line.
Bonus points if I can walk into a store and pick it up today, though I'll order it online if I must.

Any suggestions?
I don't even know where to start.
Thanks in advance.

Two things I had to do to get a Seimitsu stick to work in the SE were to rotate the PCB 90 degrees to the left (which you did) and plug the cable upside-down into the stick.

Aha, this is probably a better place to ask than the SSF4 thread. I'm looking to replace my old Hori stick with one of the madkatz fight sticks but I'm having a hard time tracking one down in New Zealand. Are there any other kiwis here that've imported one, and where did you import from?

Hmmm, seems like the Mad Catz Tournament Edition sticks have gotten great reviews.
Which is better though? The SFIV Round 2 stick or the SSFIV - S stick?

ExMachina's post is pretty informative.
Although with the SSFIV - S I've heard the edge can cut into your wrist.
I have the MvC2 version of the TE and it's very solid and sits comfortably in my lap, can't go wrong with it.

Yeah the plexi-glass art is kinda sharp but it hasn't been an issue for me, I don't really rest my forearms on the thing though.

Thanks for the input. This thread was too daunting to read through, especially for a casual like me (as it pertains to arcade sticks). I think I'll go for the Type S TE stick for the PS3.

are there directions anywhere on where to download artwork and apply it to a stick? i've got a dead or alive stick for my 360 and would like to mod the artwork and then replace the buttons with sanwas.

Just so no one is confused. The MVC2 TE stick is different from all others, the button layout is diff.
How so? Looks same to me...are they spaced out a little more? I can't tell from te pics vs my mvc2.
