Why is the Viewlix base so wide?
The Vewlix (only one "i" by the way) or the VLX?
The Vewlix control panel is wide because it's built in to an arcade panel.
The VLX control panel is wide because it's trying to emulate the Vewlix CP

Hello Community,

Are you guys interested in top metal panels for TE sticks?

Not just replacement panels using the current button layout, but top metal panels + artwork with different layouts. For example: Astro City, 6 button, True 7 Vewlix, etc.

Let me know your thoughts. Also what is the right price point (think realistically here).

Is $30 good?

Also...

'HOLIDAY' coupon (10% Off and Free FedEx Ground Shipping) expires TODAY! - http://store.gameshark.com !

This code is good on FightStick parts and the Mad Catz shirts.

MarkMan,

I'd also be interested in a white generic stick....or just a body so that we can use them for fun and projects. Something sold at Madcatz store, perhaps.

All the Madcatz white sticks are kinda rare and I want to leave mine stock.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind the TE stick without any game specific art work.

Soo tempted to get the Chun Li fight stick at Fry's but in the end Rockband 3 keyboard won my Christmas gift card cash.

I might try to mod my existing Super TE to resemble it though.

$30 sounds reasonable. <3 that Astro layout.
What I really want is Madcatz to sell the TES side panels separately so I can install them on my OG TE.
Have you thought about offering something like that?

I was thinking the other day that I'd like a metal top for the TE. If the quality were very good, I don't think too many would object to $30.

Nice and thanks for the heads up! Going to order two TvC sticks for $60. I'm never here for these Madcatz deals so totally stoked as I was looking around the local Gamestops for one, with no luck, and was just about to go to Fry's.

tl;dr my USPS package tracking says delivered, i don't have it.

This actually happened to me last week. They tried to deliver on a day my job was closed, and my tracking info said "Delivered." Lo and behold, the next day we were open, they actually delivered the package. Hopefully something similar happened to you and you either have the package by now or will be getting it tomorrow. If not... did you tick the insurance box during LizardLick checkout?

This would be a great idea for Mortal Kombat. A simple panel swap, and you have a joystick with the proper layout.

Also, yes and yes. =)

Happy New Year to all you arcade stick lovers <3 !
Happy New Year MarkMan!

One of the best threads on GAF...even though I'm a bit of a lurker now.

Looking forward to all the new Madcatz and Hori product coming in 2011!

I'd like to give a Seimitsu stick a try in my TE. I tried playing Super yesterday and felt like the stock JLF was too "loose". I hadn't played in a few months, so it might have been rust as well, but it got me curious about the stiffer Seimitsu sticks.

Which model is a drop in replacement for the JLF into the R2TE? LS-32? What's the difference between that and the LS-32-01?

LS-32-01 is the drop-in replacement (although you have to invert the cable before putting it in)

difference is the mounting plate, LS-32 regular mounting plate works, but makes the stick too low. LS-32-01 comes with SS mounting plate, which when mounted makes the stick pop out a little bit more, so that it's high enough.

Also IIRC the standard LS-32 doesn't have the microswitches soldered to a PCB (the one I have doesn't), while the LS-32-01 does.

You'll want to use the LS-32-01 because it works with the same 5-pin connector in the TE.

edit: beaten

Thanks fellas. :D

Gonna pick up an LS-32-01 when I get a chance. I had a sudden urge to pick up Adon and try him out in training mode after not touching a fighting game for months, and here I am, ordering more stick parts a day later. :lol

Hey Markman - got any info or pics of the WWE All Stars Brawl Stick? Is it a full-fledged arcade stick? Sounds interesting. Preorders are up at gamestop.

I busted out my SF4 TE stick this evening, and found that my XBox sustem menus wouldn't recognize inputs on the stick when the toggle was set for the left stick, only when it was set to the d-pad. SSF4 recognized the inputs when it was set to LS.

Has it always been this way with the TE stick, and somehow I didn't notice, or is something about mine jacked up?

So whats the word on PlayStation -> 360 converters? I know there are a few of them out there. How do they work? What's the best one? Is there lag and is it tolerable?

I've got Mushihimesama Futari en route and there's no way I'm playing on a pad....

Holy crap... was about to ask the same question! D:

Got an HRAP 3 SA incoming this week... Help us out, stick-GAF!

Hope you guys don't mind me putting this in here. If anyone does, I'll be happy to delete it. I swapped out all the Sanwa parts for Seimitsu on my two TE sticks, and the Sanwa parts have been sitting in a box for a while now. Presently, I need the cash and I doubt I'll be modding any sticks anytime soon.

I'd like to sell the set (the joystick, the balltop, and the 8 buttons) for $32 shipped priority each (about half off Lizard Lick's prices right now), and I have great feedback in the B/S/T thread and on eBay under Chorazin and I take Paypal. Everything works perfectly, and they are all official Sanwa parts. Each set is EVERYTHING you need to mod an SE stick to TE quality, as most of you know. :)

From my Femme Fatale stick:

From the regular TE stick: SOLD to yyr

EDIT: Only the parts from the Femme Fatale set left!

Hey h3ro, you should try sticking some seimitsu springs in your JLF.

I have a ls-32 spring/jlf spring combo in mine. Nice and stiff, hehe.

This is another option I might look into. I held off on ordering the LS 32 01 because I wanted to see if I was just rusty, but with the springs coming in for around $0.80, I might as well give those a shot first.

From what I'm reading, seems like the 32 spring will add a medium amount of tension while the LS 55 spring will really stiffen it up. Anyone here tried the LS 55 spring? Does it fit without any modification?

The closest thing I found this afternoon in a reasonable price range is this thing. It's an adapter that lets you use PS2 controllers on 360. It requires that you ALSO plug in a wired 360 controller, however... I suppose for some people that would be a dealbreaker.

Moving onto a wholly unreasonable price range... we have this really expensive thing. But I suppose for some people, it's worth the price...

Unfortunately I can't vouch for the quality of either item... perhaps someone else?

So after a bunch of button/lever swaps among my growing collection of sticks I decided that I love the compact size and matte finish of the MadCatz TvC stick. I threw an LS-32-01 in there and adore it. But I wanted to use it on my 360 also... and I don't know how to solder. I had a different idea, though, and I'd already jumped on the TvC B1G1, so I had sticks to spare.

After comparing some pics of the guts, I grabbed another LS-32-01 and a set of Seimitsu buttons (minus a black/red...LizardLick was OOS), and finally, bought a SFIV SE FightStick for 360. After a complete swap of internals, I have this:

The headset jack hole will be drilled tomorrow. The full-red Hori button sucks, but I'll deal until I get the right button. Also, the labels are obviously wrong, but with the color coding all will be well. Pretty soon I'll also have an SFIV stick for Wii. Um, yay?

The Mad Catz fightsticks have always been like this.

It is recommended that you have the stick set to dpad unless you absolutely need the LS for something.

Would definitely love a Vewlix front plate. My SFIV is feeling a bit outdated.

Also, wondering how much milage my 360 TE stick will have, considering we are nearing the end of the generation. Since it's USB, I'm hoping I can carry it on to the next generation, use it with PC/Mac... and I wish I could use it with PS3 too.

We're no where near the end of this generation. In the future, PS3 stuff will probaly work with the PS4 (standard USB implementation), but MS will probably change their game up again.

Nice Franken-SE, yyr

thanks =) I now also have a SF4 fightstick for Wii, using stock parts from the TvC stick, which aren't all *that* bad. I wonder if there'd be any sort of resale value for it. Maybe if I upgraded the parts to something better?

MS would be foolish to drop backwards compatibility for 360 controllers on their next console, considering they're already using USB anyway. Same thing with Sony/Nintendo and Bluetooth...I don't see why they'd drop it.

NCS put up the Radiant Sivergun stick a few hours ago. There is no way to put it in your cart so I guess you have to email them to reserve. I kept waiting for a preorder button but it never showed so I just emailed them intent (or I guess they already had me on the list cause I emailed them a few weeks back). Give them an email if you want it! Lists at $289. Let us hope Hori actually winds up making it!

As a fan of collection things Treasure, this certainly interests me, but I can't justify the price at all :/

Yeah, I'm really wondering how many people are actually interested in this stick? Beyond the initial "wow factor" of it being a RS stick. Chances most japaneses 360 players already have a stick (EX-SE or something) Then, it is the aged form factor. And, far, far too many face buttons...hori should have only put three, or four like the Otomedius which would have made the graphic way more impressive.

Still hoping it gets made, since I really like the idea of a special stick for an XBLA title. Kinda hoping RS gets a disc-based SE down the line, too.

Another idea, another modification:

I understand why people hate the 8 button layout and prefer the 6 button layout, but I didn't want to plug the button holes, I want access to the buttons when i'm in menus and no access when i'm playing.

Then it hit me: i could use the SE/TE lockswitch. So now the lockswitch locks out Guide, LB, and LT (the last column of buttons)

So that's what I did, very easy to do as well. All you do is disconnect LT and RT from common ground, and instead wire them to the (switched) ground on the guide button uses.

No more having to disable LB and LT in button config :D

On what planet does RS cost more than $290 USD?
You can totally get it for way less than that!

I would guess a new sealed one would fetch higher, but I haven't checked the prices.

My friend wanted to buy my copy once....I asked for 350....he told me to eat a dick, lol

So I'm terrible at this stuff, and the SRK Tech Talk forums are intimidating, so can anyone here maybe help me out? I have a SF Anniversary Stick, I want to take out the crappy clone parts, put in an iL stick, Happ buttons, and replace the PCB with a 360 one (from my broken FightPad). I guess my questions are mostly around wiring up the pad. I tried to make a pop'nmusic controller years ago and completely failed somewhere along the line.

I know this PCB is common ground, so what's the best way to do this? Do I want to solder one wire to a ground point, and then run that to a breakout box or something like that? I plan on using quick disconnects for the buttons/stick, so that part should be simple enough. What's the best way to mount the PCB inside the stick? Is there anything else I need to worry about?

Lambtron said:

Me too. I'd never heard of the SF Anniversary Stick and so was Googling around a little bit about it, and I tripped over this:

http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-27.html

Maybe you've seen it already, but on the chance that you haven't: this person also changed it into a 360 stick, so maybe there's some info there that you'll find useful. There's no info on changing parts, though.

there are tuturials all over the place, but the gist of it is that on a pad each button has two points, a signal and a ground. A button when pressed completes the circuit and registers the button press.

When you padhack, all you are doing is extending the points (circuit) from the pad to the arcade stick switch/button. Because it's common ground it's a bit easier to wire since you can wire all the ground points together.

So basically each signal on the PCB to each button, and common ground to a ground point on the controller.

http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_wiring.html

I know you are trying to avoid tech talk but they do have the best guides:

http://shoryuken.com/f177/how-padhack-08-09-madcatz-4716-common-ground-xbox-360-pad-197388/

However, since you are using a fightpad, it's a lot easier because everything is digitized for you already, all you have to do is just solder each point.

In terms of mounting...that's pretty dependent on the stick.

Been looking for this thread but forgetting to post...

Looking for a couple Dreamcast sticks. Been using older Agetec sticks (which I love) for nearly 10 years now and showing quite a bit of age. Any guidance where I should go for replacement parts or whole new sticks in general?
