if you wanted the TE-S specifically, yes.

Otherwise you could've gotten a brand new TE from the MC store for that price with the promotion that's going on now
Yeah I really wanted that TE-S. I just don't know if the price should be lower for a used one.

I've recently ordered my first stick. Ended up going with a WWE All-Stars BrawlStick. It looks silly, but it's currently cheaper and easier to find than the SFIV SE FightStick (plus, free shipping from Amazon made it a pretty good deal). TE is too expensive for me, so I had to get a cheaper one that's also easy to mod in case something breaks or if I feel like getting those fancy Sanwa parts and I don't think that process can be made any easier than what MadCatz has done with their sticks.

Thanks for the recommendation, but my country is not eligible for free shipping and the thing looks a bit too silly for my tastes. Can anyone recommend this one?

The price is very decent, but I have no idea about the built etc. Also from what I've seen here and on other places so far people seem to prefer Madcatz over Hori.

Looks like they also have the SE for 90+ euro. May consider that one if it's considered substantially better.

TE-S has full panel art, chun TE doesn't.

That and it's colour is why i personally think that the TE-S is the best-looking stick Madcatz has made to date.

Bought the Chun Li TE at Fry's a week before the spring sale, got kind of peeved but they do match internet shop prices (minus shipping) so I got $29 back which was awesome.

I've never used a fighting stick before outside of a couple mashing sessions at arcades and I'm having a bit of difficulty adjusting.

My biggest peeves are that the stick rotates in place and that the actual ball top isn't smooth because of how the plastic is formed so there's that ring on it.

Looks sexy though:

Why is it a problem that it spins in place? How are you holding it? Normal "wine glass" style or from the top or something? It takes a while to get the right feel for it.

Really struggling with the brawlstick at the moment :(

I haven't won a single match in WWE Allstars with the stick, but I am okayish with a control pad. One thing I noticed when playing with the stick is that it seems nigh on possible to reverse a move (I think I managed it twice), and the characters seem to keep running after doing a move - does this sound like a faulty stick?

I remember it taking me a long time and serious commitment to get to the point I was as comfortable on a stick as I was on a pad when I first started, about 2 months. If you are new to sticks try to continue playing with it for a few more weeks, you'll definitely start to adjust.

The easiest way to test if it is a faulty stick would be if you have something like SSFIV where you go into training mode and set an option for it to display the button inputs. It will show you exactly what you are doing with your stick. I think vanilla Street Fighter 4 had the same type of option in training mode, not sure if any other games do.

I'm really liking the HRAP V3 SA. Might actually prefer it over the Madcatz TE's.

Mostly because my hand seems to sit better on it because the edge is closer to the buttons. Also love how the whole surface is a matte finish instead of plexi. Doesn't attract nearly as much dirt and smudges.

I find it a lot less strenuous to carry with me too thanks to the lighter weight. I do prefer the longer cable, lock swich and start button placement on TE's though.

Okay, ordered my TE (Round 2). I'm looking at getting a full plexi and new art cut from Art at Tek Innovations.

Can I just leave the original art on the stick and put my new art over it? After dealing with the annoyance of getting the art off my SE, I'd rather not have to do that again.

In the demo, it was nigh impossible to reverse a move with a pad let alone a stick, lol.

If you're getting a full plexi, you'll have to remove the red bezel then you should be able to overlay to art on top. I would just remove the original art though. it's held on by 2-sided tape and comes off easily enough.

Having a hard time deciding on if I should get the madcatz TE round 2 stick or the HRAP V3 SA.. I have never used a stick and I really dont know what I'm in for, but I have a question. Don't sticks have less buttons than pads? So, there wont be enough buttons to map a seperate grab or 3 kicks button right? I know the solution to this is just use more skill, but I have gotten use to having them.

Depends on the game honestly. Like MK has a ton of buttons, and depending on the mode you play (like tag or 1v1) you can map the buttons to something else. 8 buttons on the face of my TE2 is confusing enough as it is lolz

Both the TE and HRAP will allow you to map those 3P and 3K macros as they have 8 face buttons.

My only reason for getting a stick is for when SF3 comes to xbl or psn. I will play ssf4 AE to waste time, but I am really only interested in Sf3

They're pretty much the same stick. Each has 8 buttons so you can map 2 of them if you want, but once you get used the button layouts you probably won't want to.

I remember someone in here saying If I got the hori stick I would have to replace buttons and things and that the Madcatz TE sticks don't need that. The Hori stick is also a lot cheaper, any good reason for that?

If you get the V3-SA like you mentioned, you don't need to change the buttons. The parts are the same as the TE.

Last stupid question. Real Arcade Pro VX SA is the same thing as the V3-SA3 right? only difference is that one is for ps3 and the other is for X360? and neither of these would work with a ps2, correct?

The button layout is also different.

Oh that sounds much easier than I was expecting. The SE art is held on my a very stubborn adhesive that was a huge paid to remove.

Now my problem is figuring out what to put on the stick. I have a Ken/Juri design that I started, but now I'm stuck on what to do with it. I posted it on SRK Tech Talk, so hopefully someone there can give me some pointers.

Just got your tweet! Thanks dude!

I'll post a pic of the finished product when it all comes together! The hard part is going to be waiting for all the parts to arrive.

Looks like the exact same thing in a different color to my untrained eye. Is one preferred over the other?

Is there any stick that works on a ps2 and is worth buying, if only just to practice sf3 with a stick? Really want to get use to a stick and if I get one of these, I wont be playing the game I want them for, for quite some time..

You have three options with getting a PS2 stick:

1. Hunt down an old HRAP or equivalent stick (either hard or costly)
2. Hunt down a second-rate stick with PS2 support (not as hard or costly)
3. Mod a stick to support PS2 (either hard or costly)

I just got a Chun-Li Fightstick, however there's a weird problem.

I can't use it because of the surface. Instead of a clear, smooth plastic like the others, it's that textured plastic surface that 3-d lenticular cards have. (Like the SSFIV 3DS slipcover).

I absolutely can't use it because that feel/sound of that texture is like fingernails on a chalkboard, chewing on tinfoil, etc. to me! It sends shivers down my spine. Dunno why, but it makes me cringe. Sounds crazy, but I'm sure others have similar reactions to certain textures. I wish I would have known :(

I got it because I wanted the S-base but the bezel so it wouldn't scrape my hands and wrist like the regular S-sticks do. I was looking at the replacement parts on Art's Hobbies, but from what I can tell the replacement panels thickness make it not flush with the bezel. The whole Chun-Li art surface looks like once thick piece, not like a separate plastic/art layer so I can't put a plastic layer on top and keep it flush. It kinda defeats the purpose of why I got it.

The Tekken 5 PS2 sticks can be found for $65ish if you look around. They are good sticks imo and you can get a PS3 converter thing.
This falls under Option 2. The Hori T5 is not an HRAP. It features all Hori parts and it is extremely difficult to mod in different ones.

Hmm. Didn't know that. I just assumed it was an HRAP.

Having used one I can attest to it being a pretty good stick to practice with if you're just looking for that, FootNinja.

The old Namco PS2 sticks are pretty nice as well. Not sure of the model name or anything but they are small and grey with yellow buttons.

EDIT: This thing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_Arcade_Stick

Yea, at this point I just want my first stick to play some damn sf3 with. I will get a better one down the line.

if you want a good cheap stick then just get the WWE Brawl stick.
Well I want a good cheap stick that I can play with on ps2. I am willing to spend good money on a stick that works with current gen consoles when third strike is out on those consoles.

Brawl stick doesn't work with ps2 right?

and notworksafe I am having a hard time finding a cheat tekken 5 stick. I usually just go straight to amazon when I shop online, so I kind of suck at this price hunting gig.
