Hot stuff naoki5001. I had a similar color scheme going with one of my old EX2s. I love that skeleton blue.
Seeing all these mods makes me want spruce up my HRAP EX. I got it a couple days after SF4 came out, switched up the buttons for Sanwa buttons, but that's been it. It's just boring black with white buttons, and now I'm kinda tired of it.
If I had the money I'd probably bite on a TE somewhere, since I think the bigger size would help with my large hands, but ah well, the HRAP EX has lasted me 2 years, so it's doing fine.

What's the best place to pick up some buttons now that'll ship to the UK? I ordered from etokki last time and it worked out way cheaper than Gremlin, but they don't seem to have stock of the buttons I want at the mo...
Anyone have general advice on making your arcade stick cases? My friend and I are planning on making our own this summer, and I was wondering if there were any designs or materials that are or aren't particularly beginner friendly. We're relatively well versed in the necessary power tools, but this is a new type of project for us.

I don't know if MarkMan can chime in on this at all, but what is the consensus (if any) on the TE 'S' sticks in terms of quirks? I have a SFIV TE (original) and I eventually cracked it open and did the grounding mod from the SRK forums because I was having issues with buttons gradually becoming unresponsive the more I played each sitting; most likely due to the absurd static my "micro-suede" living room couch generates when the air's dry. Will I most likely have to perform the same type of mod on a TE 'S'?

When I flick the stick down and then release on my TE, my dude always superjumps in mvc3. In other words the stick snaps back up far enough to register an up-input. I have the sanwa bat top and octagonal gate mods. I probably just have to tighten something, which I'll try right now, but I'm wondering if this is a common stick issue.

It seems to be affected by gravity. If I put the TE at an incline the superjump doesn't come out.

I am in need of a fight stick, and am torn between getting a round two Madcatz Street fighter 4 TE, (I have given up hope of a HORI Real Arcade PRO.V3 SE) or should I wait for the inevitable Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition TE which will be super secret until it hits?

Got the parts today, took about a half hour thanks to the 1200 screws around that casing and the wire disconnects. I was expecting a difference but not this drastic. It's a whole other level of awesome. Went with Cherry microswitches on the buttons too and it's a big difference.Mercutio said:

Each places has its pluses and minuses.
Cost-wise, Akihabarashop.jp is the most expensive but also has the widest range of joysticks and buttons available. They're closest to the parts manufacturers in Japan (Aki is in Tokyo) and get restocks quicker. They also have access to special limited edition parts that the other places can't always get.
LizardLick is the US parts store by default. There are other vendors who sell authentic Japanese parts but nobody has LL's variety. LL also has an impeccable reputation for customer service in the US and deals fairly with its customer base.
Rollie is the newest competitor but it also has some decent product. Their buttons should not be ignored or regarded as knock-offs. They are similar to the Seimitsu buttons but are unique designs and have their own custom microswitches. Rollie also designed its buttons to be cross-compatible with Sanwa SW-68 microswitches should Rollie button owners want to retrofit their Rollie's. Besides having a line of its own transparent plunger pushbuttons (skeletons) with different color shades than Seimitsu's PS-14-K's, Rollie also has Pearl pushbuttons. For those of that like the out-of-production Seimitsu PS-14-P Pearl pushbuttons, Rollie Electronics has a few shades of Pearls that are no longer available even through Akihabarashop -- blue and white in particular... (although you can still get the blue Pearls from arcadeforge.de ).
I generally prefer, when I can afford, to buy from Akihabarashop.jp -- especially if I'm getting specific Seimitsu parts. LizardLick just doesn't generally stock up on Seimitsu parts and even now only seems to get the screw-on Skeleton buttons even though the older-style plunger Skeleton PS-14-K's are back in production. Since the HRAP V3/VX was first released, the limited editions have been carried through Amazon-Japan excepting the BlazBlue Continuum Shift and Arcana Heart 3 joysticks -- both of which I thought were ugly to be honest... There haven't been as many of these joysticks popping up in specialty stores outside of Japan... and frankly I wouldn't pay what's being charged for the Arcana Heart 3 joysticks, either!
Problem --
1) the bottom of the world economy has fallen out and nobody's spending money as freely as they did before the market fell off the cliff in late '09;
2) a lot of shops are just not importing joysticks the way they did before so it's hard to get anything BUT the generic HRAP V3/VX's in the US now; good news is that Hori so far has made all HRAP V3/VX's SA joysticks with the notable exception of a 360 SE model and the green-highlighted HRAP V3 SE;
3) even in Japan the production numbers for the most recent HRAP V3/VX variants have been lower than variant production was for the previous Astrocade-style HRAP's -- unless somebody can explain to me why even Play-Asia isn't carrying or has a lot of these joysticks in stock, either!
4) the SE editions of the HRAP joysticks have had lower production numbers than the SA HRAP's for as long as the special all-Sanwa/all-Seimitsu HRAP's have been done.
Having fewer numbers of an HRAP V3 SE -- even if it's more restricted than the HRAP 3 SE was -- doesn't exactly stand out. Hori didn't even produce an HRAP 2 SE, period!
Frankly, I don't know that an SSFIV:AE joystick will happen... Only Mad Catz knows that and you'd think there would have been something said by now considering that the home release is only 6 weeks from now for the game. They should have told GameStop something by now unless they intend to make an AE joystick a web-only/GameShark Store special release. For all we know, they may release an SSFIV:AE faceplate ONLY like they did for this year's Mortal Kombat game. I would think that's a distinct possibility instead of doing another R1/R2-style case re-release online. The call is definitely Mad Catz's.
An R2 TE wouldn't be a bad choice but I'd wait for a sale for that one... They happen all time. Me? I'll probably eventually get another HRAP V3 on-sale in the future (fall/early winter is the best time to order for sales) and customize it into a full V3 SE joystick but with a definite sci-fi character theme. (I've already got two faceplates mocked up with ideas through Photoshop...) Even if I sell off the original Sanwa joystick and buttons, I'll be ahead of where I'd be if I tried to get a V3 SE from Japan now. You're probably looking at least $220 for the HRAP V3 SE -- most likely without shipping charges added in. Who knows what you'd get charged by a middleman. No friends in places means you end up paying middlemen more!

It's proving to be damn near impossible to find a normally priced Mad Catz TE stick or any TE stick at all over here, so I've got my eye on a Hori Real Arcade Pro I can easily order. Problem is, it's PS3 and I play all my fighting games on 360. I've been looking into PS3 to Xbox converters, but the consensus seems to be that it introduces way too much lag to be worth it. Most of the posts I found were from around 2009 though so my question to GAF is: have any reliable (nearly) lagless PS3 to Xbox converters been released and if so which one if any would you recommend? I know the other option is to mod in a PCB port, which isn't an option for my unsavvy hands.

alright guys i need a little help here. im trying to change the plastic art panel on the top and i opened up my sf4 te stick. the colored wires connecting to my buttons refuse to come off no matter how much force i used.
only one wire came off easily the rest are insanely connected. i dont want to break the wires/ stick any ideas of what to do ?

Arcade stick peoples, I need help!
I've been using an SF4 SE with a Sanwa stick and Seimitsu buttons for some time now. However, as of about an hour ago, moving right does not work correctly on the sanwa stick. It seems to register moving right when I move the stick halfway to the right, but it doesn't respond when I move it all the way to the right, which makes it more or less impossible to use.
I tried unplugging the connector and reconnecting it multiple times, but to no avail. So then I tried my old MadCatz stick that came with the SE, and...it works just fine. Is there anything I can do to fix my Sanwa or should I just buy a new one? And before anyone asks, I have zero soldering skills.
Also, it looks like LizardLick is sold out of the JLF-TP-8YT-SK. Is there another reliable place online that sells it for $25 or less?

I've bought many parts from them in person in NYC, they're good guys. I believe you even get a ball with the item, you just have to pick the color.

im ordering some sanwa buttons and a balltop from lizard lick. i noticed there are 30 mm and 25 mm, also different ball sizes. with the sf4 te stick does it matter which size i get? i think i remember reading 30 mm but im not sure and i dont wanna press checkout without making sure.

Yes SF4 has move recording but not all games do (see Tekken 6). Plus the future hope would be once you can record you can go in and edit that recorded data frame by frame. But that's a long way off.

The reason I thought about this is because when SF4 first came out I bought an SE because I wasn't sure how I would like the game. Now I am starting to try and get more serious about fighters in general and really want to get a TE. The problem is that 1) I already invested money into my SE to get Sanwa parts in it and 2)I am fairly broke or else I would buy a TE.
If there was a way I could basically buy a plain colored TE casing and slap my current buttons and stick into it that would be awesome, and there would still be incentive to buy the fancier TE's like the MvC and Chun-Li sticks. There would just now be an option for those of us who didn't want to commit right away.

I'd agree with this also. I haven't found any stick that I like as well from an ergonomic standpoint as the TE sticks but I really want one for my 360 that's full Seimitsu. Selling a "shell" with no buttons or stick would make customization a snap!
