would this USB cable work as a replacement for my madcatz TE?

http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030301&p_id=5440&seq=1&format=2

seems really cheap..
I can't really comment as to how it'll work on your arcade stick, but cables are very cheap to make. I've ordered plenty of items from Monoprice and the quality has met or exceeded stuff bought in the store for ten times the price. As far as the price goes, well, Monoprice's stock is in the US, so you get charged a fair but significant shipping fee. And things can get even cheaper, too; you can often find deals for a six-foot HDMI cable, shipped directly to you from all the way over in China, for a dollar flat. It just takes three weeks to arrive, is all.

Trying to get my hands on a Hori VLX Pro to the UK, anyone know where I can get one within europe or even import?
I bought my premium vlx through amazon.com. Had no problems shipping it to Europe. In fact, it was the fastest overseas delivery ever for me.

Is a seimitsu ls-40 shaft cover gonna fit on a ls-32 stick? I forgot to order one and now the damn ball top keeps unscrewing. And I dont see any ls-32 shaft covers for sale only 40s

Ack, the ball top still keeps coming loose on my ls-32. Any shaft cover or ways to fix this?

They don't make shaft covers for the LS-32 because the shaft is already pretty big. One thing someone did was hybrid an LS-32 and an LS-40 to make an "ls-36" so you got the good parts of each, including use of a shaft cover.

I can only suggest just tightening the hell out of it again.

No shaft cover for LS-32 AFAIK. Wouldn't help anyway.
Try opening the stick and tightening the balltop by securing the bottom of the lever with a flat head screwdriver and tightly twisting the ball on.

what exactly is "tinning" them?

edit: adding solder to the tip of each wire?
Yep, you just want to give the tip of each wire a very thin coat of solder before actually attaching them to the board. Makes everything stick a little bit better.

And yeah, cables are cables are cables are cables. Unless you really need to have fancy-looking plugs, special strain relief, or a particular texture/color for the insulation, it makes absolutely no difference what you use. Get the cheapest one that's long enough for your needs.

Finished doing something i wanted to do with my SNES stick for a while, dual mod it.

Used a 1st-gen PS1 controller, since i have a spare PS1/USB converter lying around (which works on PS3 last I tested)

so between my two sticks im good for PS1/PS2/PS3/PC/360/Wii/WiiU

:D

Haha, reminds me of a project The_Technomancer and I were going to, and might still, work on this summer. We were actually working out how to emulate various game controller protocols using Arduino to create some switchable, adaptable controller that could be used on essentially any system other than Xbox 360. I partially wanted to do it just because it would be a good excuse to pick up some retro gaming goodness so we actually had the hardware to work with directly.

Hey guys, anyone know of any good online deals for the HORI VLX Premium? Lowest I could find is Amazon for $299 but that's still a bit too high for me.

Hey, I have a question for any people here that have used a ChimpSMD. I recently got my 360 stick dualmodded when I was at ECT, and I gave it a shot tonight. It works fine on PS3, but it only seems to recognize the stick itself as the left analog stick - flipping the LS/DP/RS switch when I'm on PS3 doesn't do anything, but the switch still works normally on 360. Obviously I want the stick to be recognized as DP and not LS, but I don't know what to do. Did the guy who modded my stick screw up (I hope not) or I am simply missing something?

I'm not really sure how that would happen unless some truly odd things were done during the modding process. Mine works perfectly fine.

I don't know what to tell you. I know for sure it's recognizing the stick as the left analog stick, and the LS-DP-RS switch doesn't work.

I'm going to be pissed if there's no way to set the stick to DP. I paid more than I'd like to admit on this mod so I'd avoid the frustration of doing it myself.

What was the mod. . . exising TE pcb modded with a SF4 fightpad? Cthulhu with chimp. . . I think you'd better go to srk forums since the creator of those chimps will give you a direct answer.

Toodles has a thread on the Cthulhu/Chimp boards on SRK here. I think the third question answered in the thread pertains to you.
Q: When using the Cthulhu on a PC, moving the stick around causes BOTH the X/Y axis to change, and the POV Hat to change to match. When using the Cthulhu on a PS3, moving the stick around causes BOTH the d-pad to change, and the Left analog stick to change to match. Why does this happen, and how could I change it?

A: The Cthulhu is designed to do this; it's normal and won't cause any problems. This setup was created as a compromise between how PC games usually expect the directions to be reported (X/Y axis) and how the PS3 expects the d-pad to be reported (POV hat). With this setup, you can just plug and play on most if not all of the games you want to play on both PC and PS3. If you would like the stick to be reported as one and only one of those for whatever reason, hold down the Select or Start button when plugging in; I don't remember which is which, but one disables the X/Y and only reports dpad/POV hat, the other disables POVhat/dpad and only reports over the left analog stick/X/Yaxis
So from the sounds of it, your stick should be recognized as both the left analog AND the d-pad on the PS3 unless you do hold the select or start button before plugging it in to enable just one of them.

Thank you so much for pointing this out -- It would have taken a lot longer for me to find this answer myself. Holding start makes it d-pad only. Having it register as both the stick and the d-pad seems to make certain games behave oddly (for example, I tried Scott Pilgrim on a whim and it kept registering single movements as double taps so I'd just be sprinting and hopping everywhere), so I'm glad I know this now.

So like, my favorite stick ever (VSHG) has a dead PCB. I feel I should replace it with an Akishop PS360, but they seem to be sold out. Any ideas/alternatives, Stick-GAF?

Glad to see that helped.

<3 VSHGs. I've been meaning to get mine dual modded one of these days but I've been super lazy about it since I already have other sticks to use in its place. Wasn't yours dual modded already? Sucks that the PCB died on you.

Laugh sells the Joytron PCBs if you can't wait. Interestingly enough, laugh is also going to be selling his own sticks soon that are similar to the VSHG. Looks great!

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. My VSHG still has the stock PCB. My only dual mod is a Madcatz TE.

That new stick from Laugh looks very, very handsome. However, I was a little confused as to why he said it was "compatible" with Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. Laugh knows he's a well-respected name in the cottage industry of arcade sticks, right? The people he's selling these to are generally big spenders. Why not just sell them with high-end parts already installed?

Compatible with Sanwa, Seimitsu, and Korean joysticks and buttons. Korean buttons are smaller than sanwa/seimitsu and the joysticks need different mounting holes so being able to easily install all 3 types of parts without heavy modding will be a selling point. I'm sure it'll come with "high-end parts" already installed and come in different configurations, too.

Anyone here have a Qanba Q3 wireless PS3 stick? Just wondering how the wireless is. I've read on other boards there is lag, but seeing as I can't feel any lag using a DS3 I don't see why the stick would be any different. Also where can you buy them from? Play-Asia doesn't have any in stock.

I have two of them. I've been using them for a year or so.

Input lag is the same as a DS3, so it's perfect. It's also pretty heavy (which is a good thing), made of wood, and full sanwa.

The only issue with the Q3 wireless is that they go to standby within 5 minutes of inactivity or so. It's pretty annoying since you need to unplug the usb dongle and plug it in again for the stick to work.

Other than that, I love them. My favorite sticks by far.

If it uses a dongle, isn't it safe to assume it uses RF instead of bluetooth. An axisdapter'd PCB would be better lag-wise. And since it's official Sony controller as the base you could set your own standby time.

It would probably add too much manufacturing costs to the stick, but that would be better if wireless is a must-have feature.

I have a question for those who have ordered art from Art's Hobbies. Is it common that your art doesn't ship with your plexi glass? I got my plexi today, finally and I was really shocked and annoyed that it didn't come with my art work. I just sent an email about it but I wanted to see what people's experiences here have been.

Excellent thanks for that, put in order in from play asia and its already shipped apparently, which is odd since they said it was out of stock :S

Cheers!

So I posted this in the pick-up thread but I was hoping you knowledgeable folks could maybe give me some insight into this stick and it's value. I found one other example of it but no more info seems to be available. It's definitely for the SNES.

Hi guys, i'm in need of some help.I got a couple of Dreamcast Agetec sticks, and i was thinking of modding at least one of them.I want the stick to work on DC, PS3 and X360.I don't really know if it's possible, i seem to recall somebody posting some pictures of such a modded DC stick a long time ago in this thread.

So i need help in doing this, if anyone has a tutorial or a link with info (what parts to buy, where to buy it from etc. - i am from Europe, so i would need to buy the parts from a store that ships to Eastern Europe), if it's with pictures it's better. Now i am a noob when it comes to stick modding, so it would be great if the info was detailed. If its not possible to tri-mod the stick, i would like at least to dual-mod for PS3 and X360, and i will use the other stick for DC.

Thanks!

gunna bite the bullet and buy a rollie joystick. Cheap as hell, and i've heard nothing but good things about their products.

Hi GAF!

This is my first post here and with it would like to show you my 2 arcade sticks!

First the Turtle Stick:

It was made a forum member of www.hardedge.org and is Xbox 360 and PC only. The turtles image was taken from deviantart and edited by me to fit the color of the wooden case.
It has a sanwa stick and sanwa buttons.

The Lobo Stick:

This stick was made by Bencao from www.arcadeforge.de.

It has a dual mod of an UPCB (nearly all consoles except xbox360) with a piggyback xbox360 pcb.
It has a sanwa stick and sanwa buttons.
The Layout was done by me and is a collage of different images i got from deviantart or scans from the comic books.
You can find more images for this stick on: http://www.arcadeforge.de/?page_id=57

The picture of the turtle stick is a little outdated. The stick fell off a chair and the front glas has a little crack and the bottom left edge is not as smooth as it used to be. But it still works perfect!

I mainly play stg's (Mushihimesama Futari, Pink Sweets, Deathsmiles, Espgaluda 2 etc.) and old arcade games with them.

Hello again everyone,

So I love the fact that the Qanba 3in1 Q4 works on all platforms out of the box, but I've gotten so used to my modded TvC sticks, and that form factor is the love of my joystick life.

To anyone who owns a Qanba and has opened it: any chance the PCB might be a similar size to the one in the TvC/SE/TE sticks? I'm wondering if a transplant of sorts might be possible.

Little help here, I have a madcatz TE stick but I can't use down on the stick. Specifically it doesn't seem to register the down movement anymore. What should I be looking for if I want to fix it? I have no idea what to look for at all. Thanks.

If you open the top theres a cable attached to the joystick which you can pull out and push in again, try that. Otherwise it may be the microswitch gone bad. Dunno, maybe someone else can help.

You don't have to throw away the whole thing because of a damaged stick! The TE is made to be modified and you can just buy a new stick unit for around 25$ and it should be working again. At least as long as the PCB is not damaged.

If you've heard of Laugh(Korean Ryu player, commonly rolls with Infiltration), he has his own online store dedicated to selling all kinds of parts for arcade sticks including sticks themselves. He is launching his very own arcade stick which is inspired by the Sega VSHG design.

Here are some specs:
- Full-metal body (3.2kg)
- Compatible with Sanwa, Seimitsu, and Korean joysticks and buttons
- Vewlix button layout
- Dual-system support out of the box (PS3 & XBOX360)

He announced this a month ago. This is the same stick Infiltration used at Revelations and NCR, this is also the reason why you see him hold on to it during photo's. It's suppose to be ready sometime early this month although still no word yet from him. I've always wanted to try a Korean stick. Funny thing is I just bought a Qanba Q4RAF, but I'm ready to dip in again and get this. Man I need some help LOL.

Last week I put a LS-56 in my VX and going back to the JLF makes it feel broken.

I hear conflicting feedback on whether the LS-40 or LS-56 has the shorter throw. Does anyone know here for certain or is it all in the feel?

I just noticed the Xtokki 360 converter at the etokki site and it seems amazing. It'll recognize my PS2 controller as a 360 controller on the PC plus I can use it for my namco psone stick on the 360/PC, 2 birds with one stone!

Sooo... GAF.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom MadCatz stick - $23 at Micro Center
Mayflash wii to PC usb adapter - $10-15 on amazon.

Mayflash adapter supposedly works with a ps3 too.

Should I buy this combo, and work with that, or save a little bit more money and get a Hori HRAP3 at Micro for $130?
