We announced the MLG FightStick TEs earlier this week... But today...

Street Fighter X Tekken - Arcade FightStick PRO

Limited to 1000 total, for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
When will these ship?

MarkMan not to be a jerk, but why make sticks that size if you're just going to keep the stick and buttons so close together? Sucks for people with big hands. :(

Maybe I'm the only one with this issue but I'd prefer some space between stick and buttons. It looks especially silly with so much room on both sides of the stick.

They're made to Japanese Vewlix spec and measurement.

I'm confused, I thought this was going to be the next generation of the TEs? Or is the SFxT skinned version only limited edition?

I never said these would replace the TE sticks. These are going to live alongside them. This is a limited edition stick, yes. That's why we only made 1000.

Sorry, but if you need more room, I'd suggest a custom. A lot of FightSticks use the Vewlix layout. You either conform or get a custom made. I do hear where you're coming from though.

MC can go fuck themselves for limiting the run to 500 per console.

That's not very nice. Why are you so upset?

By mid-September at latest.

"Alongside them" means they are different? What are the differences?

[edit] Not being sarcastic or rhetorical... upon reading my questions, it sounds somewhat confrontational, but they aren't!

Is there a price on them yet?
Click the store link. :P

I'm on the road right now, I'll post a big blog/comparison list and preview to the stick when I get back to San Diego. Have a good weekend :D

Yeah I ended up getting a custom made with a wider gap and it's great. Just throwing out a request in case MC ever wants to humor us big-handed dudes. :)

Help me Neo GAF, you're my only hope.

My Sanwa stick shaft is becoming a little loose (...) and the feeling playing is not as great as it was.

Pictured in crappy photos is the MadCatz one but as you know the Sanwa one is almost the same, in looks; the problem is there.

What's my best bet? replace it completely with another Sanwa one? are there methods to solve the issue?

Wizpig, if you mean loose in the sense the stick moves too easily and doesn't have enough resistance any more, then perhaps replacing the spring would help.

Stock JLF spring on Lizardlick

If you want some increased tension, then I'd look into dropping a Seimitsu spring in the stick. They fit right in the same spot as the Sanwa spring did and add some nice tension without being overly stiff.

LS-32 Spring

LS-55 Spring (I have one of these in both my TE and SE sticks and love the added tension.

Yeah, when new the tension was ok, now there is a little bit of "play" when you move it down.
It's not as stiff as it was anymore.

Any chance to find, er, a guide to change the spring?

The SFxT stick looks incredible, MarkMan. Captures the beautiful design of Namco's Tekken cabs in exactly the same way as the TE does the Taito Vewlix. Is there any chance of a stick with the same case design being released in larger quantities, or is that something you have to remain tight-lipped about?

Does this one actually use the Vewlix layout or is it the same Madcatz layout from the SE and TE?
It looks to be the same faux-Vewlix layout as the existing SE and TE, the only difference being that the bottom row is shifted a few milometers to the right, making the six rightmost buttons form a completely straight American style layout for people who might prefer that.

Vewlix layout for reference:

Inexact SE/TE layout:

Ah, I see. Thanks Orayn.

Say, how is Vewlix pronounced? I want to say "View-licks", but there's no "i" after the "v". Is is something more like "Veo-licks"?

It's rare, but I think it looks good on HRAP EX-SE and HRAP V-SA.

Sucks for branded sticks though. On the other hand, generally they're pretty ugly already with all the busy artwork plastered all over them.

I'm far less "annoyed" at the colored buttons than I am them requiring the ass-backwards layout for non-branded sticks. I blame Hori making the stupid DOA4 stick layout for it, but good lord.

Don't blame Hori.

Blame DOA4.

You see, when you plug in any non-standard controller, the game doesn't allow you do full button config. Stay free Team Ninja.

Wait what? I've never had any issues configuring buttons on my TE before. The way I heard it was that Hori was making the sticks and setup the buttons in the weird method so you wouldn't have to configure anything the way the buttons were (sort of) laid out in DOA2 arcade. Since it was the first officially licensed stick made for the 360 that was the layout that MS stuck with for anything non-branded.

Does your TE show up as a regular Xbox controller in the button config? Which region is your DOA4 disc? I'll run some tests when I get home, but I could have sworn that was always the case.

I'm not sure how it reports, but I would assume that it does show up as a normal controller. My copy is the NA version. I'm wondering if maybe it was something they patched a while back with it, but I've never had issues configuring buttons on any pads or sticks with the game.

Is it possible to use any discount codes when pre-ordering the SFxT stick? I tried using some and it wasn't reflected in the pre-checkout page.

I'm kinda confused how to remove my balltop. Trying to put in the JLF stick I got just now and it says on a guide in SRK to have a flathead against the bottom and then twist. I'm trying that but I don't see it coming off.

Hi.
I'm currently using T6 stick modded with JLF and OBSF-30.
Stick works much better after the mod, however, I don't really like JLF that much as it feels way too loose (I've been using it for more than a year and just can't adjust to it).

I was thinking about building a stick from scratch.
I will probably get Seimitsu ls-32-01, but I am undecided on buttons.
What do you suggest - to go full Seimitsu or Sanwa/Seimitsu combination?

Did anyone try these out?

I mostly play AE, 3S and Tekken 6.

Questions for Markman:

Any chance I can import new stick overseas?

Have you noticed that the Sanwa buttons over the years have varied in plunger height and just feel.

I have Sanwa buttons from 2000, 2003(were never installed till this year) and of course the Sanwa buttons that came with my TE; I noticed that the Sanwa buttons seem to clearly feel different (I prefer the slightly higher plunger size) in the TE than the buttons from 2000 and 2003 can you post why this is the case? Seeing as you have the biggest arcade stick collection (along with being the man that gave birth to the TE) I'm sure you would have noticed this yourself.

Any Australians in here been able to find a te2 or equivalent for less then 280$ ? Best I have found is the mortal kombat stick but I play street fighter so would prefer not to have MK pictures :p

Just found this, very tempting. I'm guessing these still have reliable parts and are all replaceable. I like the idea of getting new face plates for TE's though. Hmmm

Don't waste your money on Fightstick VX the stock parts blow (No name Hori parts that crap out way too easily), and they require major modding to install Sanwa parts.

You should import a stick from play-asia.com

Qanba Real Arcade Fightingstick Q4 (Supports PS3 and 360 out of the box with all Sanwa parts) $124.04AUD (and $64.84AUD shipping) $188.88AUD total

Wow, thanks. This stick looks much nicer too. I like it a lot. Can anyone confirm what gate this comes with standard?

Thanks for your help. Looking forward to getting involved in this thread.

One of the reviews in playasia states it has Sanwa parts so more than likely it'll be a square gate since that's the standard over there.

It comes with sanwa square gate.

A few of my friends did batch order of them; very nice stick that feels super solid and it rocks that it works on PS3 and 360 out of the box.

Thanks for that. After reading a number of pages in this thread i've seen multiple comments of people switching to Octagon gates when playing Characters like Ryu. I play with Sagat and Ibuki, which have alot of rolling motions so im guessing this could be a good choice for me too. Guess I will see how the square feels first.

Update: Stick has been ordered :D Cant wait. 1-4 days it reckons.

Awesome! :)

BTW, I personally feel Octagon gate is fucking ass. Square gate does not take long to adjust to at all. (for me I had to adjust from MCA and Happ arcade parts to Sanwa which I did back in 2000...if I recall 100% it took me about a month to get fully use to Japanese parts) If you've used a T.E before 98% chance is it was fitted with a square gate.

Also, give the square gate a chance (at least a month) rather than rushing to buy octagon in hopes of magically being able to pull off moves. :P

Thanks for your input. And yeah at the end I said I would see how the square feels. Rather not pull it apart the minute I get it lol. Wish you could get pre cut art work for these. Have found the clear top plates but I would be hopeless at getting a design printed and fitting it around buttons etc. Ha. I do like the standard look though so I'm happy.

Square gates are easy to get used to, just takes some practice. Once you get in a few friendly rounds against real people (online or off), it definitely starts to become second nature.

Only problem is, its kinda hard to go back to a pad after you become familiar with a stick...at least it is for me.

By contrast, going from square to octogonal was a fucking nightmare for me. Used my friends' SE the other night on PS3 and it was some crazy, loose, what the hell is all this empty space shit. QCFx2 wasn't even trying to come out for me, missed mad opportunities with Hugo, etc.

Square all the way--specifically Seimitsu LS-32. I can't see for the life of me see how octogonal makes move easier to be honest.
