You really think the moderators/admins here would allow them to "ruin" the community again? As has been shown, they tend to get banned quick for showing their asses. The few that aren't are universally reviled/mocked.
I don't think you have to worry about GAF becoming an SJW home with the team currently in place.

I don’t think having any anything goes thread is a great idea as I imagine the shit posting and animosity between members would spill out to other threads.
I mentioned earlier maybe trying a gaming industry news/sales/next gen speculation etc sub forum and a gaming (OTs, previews, reviews, game announcements etc) sub forum. I’m not sure there’s enough traffic for a split though. But it would be nice to have somewhere for the threads about actual games to shine and not get mostly buried behind the other stuff.

On N4G we had something called the open zone. It basically was a forum where system wars could take place and where fights were allowed. Unfortunately having a place like that just bled into the news comment section N4G. For that reason they closed it down. I would suspect something similar to happen here.
