Disconcerting for sure. More worrying perhaps is the reluctance from Cerium to investigate further. Of course we shouldn't jump to conclusions like they do over there, but there's certainly compelling evidence about the way it's openly discussed and nobody seems to bat an eyelid. If it walks...
And from the ban page note, apparently has a history of defense forcing for pedo stuff.

This is my first post on GAF since the fiasco, I've been a member of this community for over a decade despite what my post count would lead you to believe. I've been lurking ever since and I'm really glad that there are still members of this community that have held this place together. I didn't need to have my account reinstated because I didn't believe in destroying this community in the first place, I recall sending Evilore a private message with a vote of confidence at the time as many would. Just want to tip my hat to Evilore for doing a great job in managing the entire situation and being transparent yet completely rationale with it all, I'm sure it wasn't easy.

The way I read it was he was outlining a point. I don't see why it qualifies as grounds for a perm, least of all to appease some rando reset driveby who apparently requested a perm shortly afterwards, which is why I'd appreciate someone from the moderation team to explain the matter fully.

That argument is a little weird tbh because the nature of that thread was to expose the hypocrisy of those members in the discord so naturally there was gonna be some (not all) people here like the user in question that shared their viewpoint.
For example, it's like if a sect of Muslims were exposed as being Catholics and so the Muslims pointed out to the Papacy that they had churches with similar views and then in response the Papacy cut those churches off.
Of course, this case in particular is entirely predicated on whether or not you associate late teenage sexual activities with paedophilia.
In any case, the reason stated for the ban is "History of defense forcing" so it leads me to believe this isn't an isolated example.

In addition to what others mentioned, I’d also imagine any type of defense forcing of pedo stuff is going to not be tolerated here after that shit storm with amirox (however it was spelled) a couple years back. That’s for mods/staff to clarify, but I’d hope that’s the case as I don’t want to be on a site that doesn’t have low tolerance for pedo stuff or defending of it.

To prevent further cases like this might I suggest the Mod team clarify by what they define as paedophilia? The reason I say this is because from what I've observed in the last few days there seems to be a few distinct groups of people with slightly different views.
1. Those that believe anything regarding minors and persons under the age of 18.
2. Those that believe it varies between countries and states depending on the law.
3. Those that believe it only applies to persons who haven't reached the age of adolescence yet. (Sqorin)
So while everyone here unanimously condemns paedophilia there is still room for posts to be perceived as defending it thus leading to the current situation.

I don't think LooseGoose818 was being malicious with misinformation. Based on what I know, she was just extremely gullible and impulsive about posting it without checking her sources, and someone trolled her in her own forum with fake info. In both situations, she always apologized for and tried to fix her mistakes. With the fake tweet post in particular, she said she couldn't edit it after 5 minutes due to account restrictions.
She seemed enthusiastic on being on gaf, and was interacting pretty well with us on discord, so I don't think she was intent on being a troll. I can understand how it could be interpreted in that manner. It does look like someone who infiltrates us to spread fake information and make us look bad on the outside.
But I attribute her behavior to non-malicious flaws, and she happened to have made two big mistakes in quick succession.
I'm not defending her behavior here, just her intent. I think she deserves a second chance somewhere down the road, after having had the time to cool her head, to see if she has learned from it or not.

LooseGoose was opening private PM chains with various members and asking them to "spread the word for the cause". In these PM chains, they were promoting their freebie forum that was a magnet for new confessions on this very issue. Wow! And the persons who were "confessing" had no screencaps and couldn't even remember their own ResetERA username.
In one of these PM chains, LooseGoose accused Celine.D.Sykes of not believing in her own cause (y'know, the person who brought this to light in the first place) and then scolded her for "misgendering". Screencaps are tucked into Quote tags so that it doesn't spam the whole page:
You can see in the email chain where Matt404 and I were invited in, and my response is at the bottom which caused the PM chain to be closed by the creator, LooseGoose.
Additionally, they were extremely active in the GAF Discord, spreading these faked images to members in there and chumming it up with the crew like one of the regulars.
Use the meat between your ears. Trolls are incentivized to come here and spread misinformation when we accept everything openly and gleefully. Apply skepticism and common sense to enthusiastic bearers of Knowledge who suddenly materialize amidst controversies.
EDIT: I don't know why I kept saying "email chains". These were all via GAF PM system.
