We have people from all walks of life and backgrounds here and I wouldn't want them to feel uncomfortable and stop posting. I'm not saying that we shouldn't have discussions around our differing viewpoints, but there is a way to do that tactfully. Let's all be better to one another.

...at least until I figure out how to kill all humans.

I'm just glad we're not tolerating child pornography or its defense whatever the format

If the consumption of regular hentai is logically a sexual substitute for regular porn, then the consumption of loli hentai is clearly a substitute for the real thing for pedos. At worst, loli hentai encourages its consumers to seek out the real deal.

It's inextricably linked in every way and it's gross.

Nahh, he asked a question. He didn't state there was no victim in drawing a child. I mean, i don't get anime, its fucking weird tbh, but a cartoon isn't real, no matter how weird it is. This is a real broken eggshell thing to say but, what's the difference between outrage of a cartoon of mohammed and outrage over [pick a cartoon showing any subject].

Besides, 3 others sometimes trolled by going right up to the line. I think he just mispoke, people paniced because of the history of Gaf, catalysed by the fact that it was in the REEE thread and we have the perfect storm.

Ban him for stupidity, sure. Ban him for knowingly take the convo in to dodgy ground, sure. But perm'd? Nahh. He was Ami v2 in the making.

ive never seen him post anything weird like that before. really odd position to have on the subject, i thought he was just caught up in a bad joke for a second there but after reading it again... yeah thats not cool. he was always a good/fun poster, seems really out of character for him

That wasn't his point, imo.

First off, I hate Anime/Manga and that whole "waifu" crap, and as many know and have witnessed, I despise people who are into that shit. And as a father of two, I am certainly not fond of CP in any form, and wish defenders of this going to a very special place in hell. It's simply unacceptable. Period.

That said, it seems to me and3Others point was more theoretical about how we equate or not equate certain serious crimes against each other, especially murder.

I think he is a generally good poster and a worthy part of this weirdo GAF family, and I would like to see his perm changed to a one month ban, so he can understand why this is simply not a good matter to have even a theoretical discussion about.

There's no misunderstanding in what he posted. He writes a lot of joke posts but even if that was some kind of twisted joke; it's crossing a big line. It was so disgusting that I didn't see him try to further back it up or anyone try to cover him either. It's because it's something that goes beyond what anyone should be discussing in or outside GAF.

If it's a pornographic drawing, animation, video, or picture of a child then it's child pornography. There is no argument to be made. There is no middle ground. There is no defending it. It's disgusting and wrong. End of story.

It's not like people got booted for voicing their opinion about a video game or movie. They were trying make the argument that some child porn isn't actually child porn or that there is nuance to it. There isn't. Child porn is child porn. The fact that it's "just a drawing" or whatever doesn't change the fact that it is still a pornographic image of a child. No amount of "Well actually..." is going to change that or make it okay.

I remember years ago having a discussion in a spanish videogame forum (elotrolado) regarding the same topic of child/loli hentai in the anime/manga section of said forum.

I was repulsed by the fact that pretty much most of the users there were completely in favour of it in the most bullshit and disingenuous way possible. They were completely unapologetic and treated everybody who questioned their stance as a crazy far right lunatic (the irony coming when years later, some of them literally vote for the actual far right, the one with swastikas).

Still, the free speech advocate in me thought it was a good thing they could voice their opinion without getting permabanned, even when that opinion is so disgusting it makes you feel gross and ashamed of sharing the same hobby/interests.

But also, the pragmatic in me knows the social climate has changed A LOT since those days and my "absolute free speech" position was easy when I'm just a regular user, meaning my actual real life reputation isn't in the line if some weirdo starts doing pedo propaganda (imagine being linked in real life with that shit). So I COMPLETELY understand why the GAF staff has zero tolerance to that kind of shit. I would do exactly the same in their position, because absolute free speech advocacy is a nice utopia, but only when your neck isn't at risk.

Didn't think 3 others was that kind of guy and surprised he earned a perm, I'm hoping he just expressed himself incredibly poorly or tried to be too edgy.

Makes me think about people that get turned on by women dressing in school uniforms. Always thought that seemed a bit fucked up, that's clothing specifically designed for children that you're getting aroused by. Any threads discussing this topic?
 
No issues with a zero tolerance policy for that particular topic, but if that's the case then people need to be aware of it before getting nuked. Is it stated anywhere? It may not be like the Sqorin Hammerfarf Sqorin Hammerfarf situation where he knew and did it anyway.
