The topics in the discussion need to be discussed separately and there needs to be a bigger discussion. First you have to consider the motivation behind those events, then you have to consider the actual violence in those events, what they mean to state order overall, what lessons can be learned, how the media covered them. There's a lot of variables that don't exactly fit inside a tangent to what was a pretty clear cut terrorist act motivated by asinine allegations, this discussion needs to go deeper than "there are double standards".
Can i ask why phonepunk was banned? Not sure if i got the name right, he was pretty active in the reeee topic.
That's actually crazy, especially how elaborate and coldblooded it is. Also German Shephard...I mean it's not a reach to think that he probably sympatise with one of the most vile person in history. I've heard this before from skinhead... Not what I expected to read before my launch.
He was falling into pet of madness lately and call EvilLore that he is narc and that he is asking for permaban. Seems like it takes toll on his head the current pandemic situation, because his post sometimes get really heated, as seen in my thread for example:

Covid scare aka wear the fucking mask.
First of all, if you don't live near me, you don't have to wear mask I don't give a fuck...because most likely you are from "brain free country", however for the rest of the audience here I have some story, which could easily ended up with me being dead. I don't think I have to write here, that...www.neogaf.com
And that was way before.
FFXIII Trilogy is a masterpiece!

I have to say I disagree with that, I think the 2017 Las Vegas shooting is by far the most significant since 9/11 and completely dwarfs the Capitol. 60 dead and 411 wounded. This is the most significant terrorist act on US soil since 9/11.
He always felt to me when I read a post of him like that old drugged out asshole bum complaining in the supermarket that he has to stand in the queue like everybody else.Phonepunk came across as fiery in almost every post of his I saw. 90% of the time I was right there like "Fuck yeah hoss, give it to em", and then the other 10% I was thinking "Damn dude, too much".
I personally love people like that; you always know where you stand with them. Unfortunately the internet is where the people who use 10,000 words to say nothing reign supreme.
Icarus flew too close to the sun.
XIII and XIII-2 are decent games but Lightning Returns is god awful.
Drugged asshole bums pay at the supermarket? He always felt to me when I read a post of him like that old drugged out asshole bum complaining in the supermarket that he has to stand in the queue like everybody else.
Some iconic posters got Thanos snapped the last few days. I'd like to believe Cybrwzrd got permed for liking FF XIII.
EviLore now that I've taken the time to think about it can you ban me from politics for a week or two?
I think I've been letting shit distract me too much from important things I need to focus on, and I think it'd help to kill the temptation to get caught up in unnecessary conflict.
Horrific incident, definitely. Didn’t alter the landscape of the country though. Prompted legislation against a specific type of bump stocks. But binary triggers and other alternatives still exist for faux full-auto.I have to say I disagree with that, I think the 2017 Las Vegas shooting is by far the most significant since 9/11 and completely dwarfs the Capitol. 60 dead and 411 wounded.

Yup. The difference now is that the lawmakers were in harms way. These people make laws for a living, and some of them feared for their lives in those bunkers. They are going to go all out.Horrific incident, definitely. Didn’t alter the landscape of the country though. Prompted legislation against a specific type of bump stocks. The Pulse nightclub massacre didn’t reshape the country either. Or the Boston bombing. Or El Paso.
The attack on the Capitol has prompted over 100 arrests for domestic terrorism, a nationwide FBI domestic terror investigation, a major social media platform has been permanently nuked, the POTUS has been impeached and silenced from social media, three Cabinet members resigned, and the shockwave will continue expanding. Glenn Greenwald has expressed concerns that this will prompt a second War on Terror that erodes freedoms, similar to the post-9/11 world.
May I suggest a replay of your favorite game of 2020, Final Fantasy 7 Remake!EviLore now that I've taken the time to think about it can you ban me from politics for a week or two?

I was in the middle of my work shift while all this was going down. Mexico always runs American news before their own and my wife told me what was going on. Took one look at the motive, the act, and live coverage and called it domestic terrorism. I figured that many don't like hearing that and they think they were "freedom warriors" but it was it was pretty close on par to any terrorist act the U.S. has experienced. I don't even go into the politics about it. I just take things at face value without bias. Glad the mods can see that it's something the community shouldn't be defending.Horrific incident, definitely. Didn’t alter the landscape of the country though. Oh you meant that will have the most repercussions, then yeah I agree, I just thought you meant biggest terror attack, because in terms or scope/fatalities and damage, the capitol attack was rather small, but yeah the repercussions will surely be huge and felt for years to come.Horrific incident, definitely. Didn’t alter the landscape of the country though. Prompted legislation against a specific type of bump stocks. But binary triggers and other alternatives still exist for faux full-auto.

I find it funny, how many of you still don't understand how crazy it is what actually happened there probably just because the funny bearded people from Duck Dynasty and The Dukes of Hazard were involved and how could they do no good.Oh you meant that will have the most repercussions, then yeah I agree, I just thought you meant biggest terror attack, because in terms or scope/fatalities and damage, the capitol attack was rather small, but yeah the repercussions will surely be huge and felt for years to come.
Honestly, he became WAY too anti-trans for me. Like it was an unhealthy obsession you would swear a trans person killed his mother or something. His post started to make me uncomfortable after a while. If we're told that an opinion can't be expressed, then no amount of walking on eggshells or effort put into a well written post is going to change that.

In Bavaria they do.Drugged asshole bums pay at the supermarket?
The footage I saw was mostly people walking around nonchalantly unchallenged posing for selfies and grabbing "souvenirs". Seems like security was completely inadequate. So when AOC goes on TV to say she feared for her life, it kinda hard not to read it as hyperbole. The shock of the capitol attack was more like "why is nobody stopping these people, it's the capitol for fuck's sake". When you compare it to footage of the "summer of love", that was shocking in a completely different way. Sections of cities taken over, public roads blocked, people dragged out of their cars and beaten to death, people executed at point blank range, chaos, destruction, looting all around with buildings burning everywhere, it was like scenes from a post-apocalyptic movie. Meanwhile both the democrats, woke celebrities and the mainstream media were all cheering it on and encouraging more. Trump is definitely responsible for inciting the capitol attack, but the people I just mentioned are equally responsible for inciting this past summer's attacks which were far more deadly and destructive.I find it funny, how many of you still don't understand how crazy it is what actually happened there probably just because the funny bearded people from Duck Dynasty and The Dukes of Hazard were involved and how could they do no good.

I'm just glad I don't have scroll past any more 1000 word "death cult" rants. But yeah there was too much nasty stuff flung at gay/trans people by a small number of posters for a while (calling them freaks/degenerates/etc.).Honestly, he became WAY too anti-trans for me. Like it was an unhealthy obsession you would swear a trans person killed his mother or something. His post started to make me uncomfortable after a while.

I concur that this was horrible. Don't expect any downplaying of this by me.When you compare it to footage of the "summer of love", that was shocking in a completely different way. How confident are you that the footage you are consuming isn't influenced by a selection bias, either self generated, or generated by others or an internet algorithm designed for emotional engagement?
Yes, in the capitol there was footage of people mostly milling about, but there's also footage of trespassing on restricted land, theft, and murder.
Yes, in the summer riots there is footage of hostile takeovers, theft, vandalism, and murder, but there is also footage of people speaking their mind without violence and just holding up signs and shouting.
Are you getting complete pictures of both scenarios via the pathways in which you consume information, or can they be flawed too?
The overall point I'm trying to make is that you can see these events through the lens of overall damage numbers or deaths, or implications. There's many ways to analyze this. Yes, the summer riots have a higher body count and more monetary damage, but that's because there was more of them. By contrast, the capitol incident was an attack on the fundamental institutions that are the bedrock of our entire country, both in law and in physical space.
If an attack like that was able to fester as much as a whole summer, what would you make of the comparison then?
It was most likely a contributing factor but life is complicated. At what point are we going to draw the line between out of control factors vs personal responsibility?I agree with your analysis, but one of my biggest complaints is that what happened in the summer was not tamped down quickly and effectively enough that it actually helped encourage what we saw on Jan 6. It’s like the kid who sees a sibling get away with things and then says well I’m going to start doing that too and amplifies the bad behavior. I think it’s a huge mistake not to see that connection as it’s a very real human condition.
It was most likely a contributing factor but life is complicated. At what point are we going to draw the line between out of control factors vs personal responsibility?
Yes it would have, but I'm talking about our own personal takes that involve groups or causes that we might have otherwise been sympathetic towards.Sometime this summer would have been nice.

When your own kids act like shitheads, what do you do (i.e. what is the priority, what is the most constructive and responsible response)? Deal with their behavior directly or make remarks about how your kids were influenced by the shitty behavior of other kids who have deficient parents?Personal responsibility should always be a thing. The line is crossed though when you start destroying innocent people’s property and killing other human beings. The government would not let the cops effectively protect their cities and themselves. People saw that and learned from it.
Do you have kids? If so, I’m pretty sure you tamp down certain unacceptable behavior before it gets out of hand. Why? Because not doing so leads to more bad behavior and encourages their siblings.

That's not what I asked. As a parent you should know that no one is 100% successful all the time. Big or small, you're going to run into situations eventually.I don’t act like an idiot and let the first one be a shithead.
I'm not downplaying it at all and I realized exactly what happened. Proper security (especially since they were warned in advance that some fanatics would probably try to storm the capitol) would have prevented this. Maybe the security forces they had were afraid to open fire on citizens and maybe some of them had doubts since during the whole summer the democrat politicians basically went on record to say that all cops are terrorists and should be defunded/disbanded. Obviously professional police officers should always do their duty though, even if it means protecting people that spit in their faces, so I don't condone law enforcement giving these terrorists a pass if any did. At the end of the day though Trump's presidency was only a thing because a lot of people were completely sick of wokeism and marxism taking over all facets of their lives. I seriously believe that if all these radical ideas weren't being pushed down our throats there's no chance Trump would've ever been elected. His election was like a big "fuck you!" to the establishment, that's all. All these radical politicians popping up in Western democracies only get support because arrogant mainstream politicians don't listen to what citizens want (which is the point of a democracy) and instead do what's best for them and their agenda, so some, in desperation turn to candidates who claim to hear their grievances.Have we seen the same videos?
Your government was threatened and was on the run while it tried to do its job.
It seems you are still not able to realize what happened there.

Once again. Yeah, these things are horrible.
But last week on Wednesday, your whole country and its way of how to govern was under attack.
It's crazy how you can downplay this.
You showed the whole world how weak you are. So weak that the German Bundestag was debating today if the US are still a trustworthy partner or if we should look elsewhere in future. And this debates have been held in every european country now as far as I know.
