NeoGAF Drawing-a-Day Thread

dank fanart continues

I did a Blue Jay bird as well. I was trying out some new brushes. It came out alright here is the finished and a bit of the rough foundation work in progress. I should also note I'm an idiot and flattened everything including the background which meant the background had to be white any fixing it turned into a mess lol.

I drew another bird!

That's really cool!

Dat Jay!

I will have drawings soon. Kinda hammered atm. Got too many. Feel like I have a style now that I think about it and nobody will take that away from me. All I can do is draw and keep working on what I like.

That's the spirit :)
Took me a long time to understand my unique art style and even longer to accept it. I used to hate it very much.

Too much art, none of it online/social/my Tumblr except for the last. Here's a load:

Bonus abstract watercolor painting that I gave to my long time dental assistant because she loves abstract art and I still like doing abstract art from time to time:

Some of the scans are blurry because of my POS scanner's settings (set to Auto Scan) so will scan them at a super high quality scanner at my alma mater's library and reupload it.
I intend to add more raccoons to the raccoon page and colored in the Obama one with artist markers. Almost done with it; will scan when finished. My brother is the model in the pic with the Loomis faces.

A girl I've been dating loved the llama page and suggested I make prints of them (after some editing) so something to consider. The quote I got is from an article that she sent me on llamas making good pets.

The last one I did en plein air yesterday in my neighborhood and uploaded it to my Instagram which I don't update enough (once in a month) because too many drawings in my backlog to upload. The drunk ones will definitely stay offline and in my sketchbook as much of a different style as they are.

so here's something I started on the 3rd:

Eh? Eh.

I really like this, do you plan on colouring it in at all? I'd be interested in seeing that.

Doodles for a coworker.

These look cool I really like your style, it's almost a flat look to it but the colours and detail you use really make the objects pop and compliment each other nicely.

..........

Some really interesting pieces you have here I always enjoy seeing art that captures people and figures in just everyday situations it's always so interesting. It's always great to see peoples personalities, quirks from someone elses views captured like that.

Finally I drew some stuff..

Redraw of a drawing I did 8 years ago:
i_knew_you_once__again__by_meibatsu-da9wznz.jpg

The original (more nsfw because more naked than this one lol): http://orig02.deviantart.net/a7be/f/2008/101/3/8/i_knew_you_once__by_meibatsu.jpg
4 hours!

Chibis for a collab thing! They are supposed to be letters. lol But the shortened limbs make this a bit more.. challenging.
4ish hours total for this one too.

I pretty much starved making art all day. What an awful hobby.

Since I am the last one that posted, I will just update the old post lol..

Some art I owed a friend!
My OCs with Forrest from Fire Emblem Fates:
5 hours!

Another one! With OCs! It was the brown-haired OC's birthday a couple of days ago (July 14) so~~
7ish hours? I don't know. Perspective is hard. Anatomy is hard. Everything is hard. lol

3 years later..
I am finally trying to get back into finishing my timeskip character profiles for the deviantart club i run.. lol

This took me 6-7 hours already and I still have all the shading to do.. :(

I get so frsutrated when I take so long with character profiles, but I think it's because I get really anal about a line looking one pixel off and stuff.

Here is a picture I did of the new Pokemon Mimikyu. I really love the design of the this Pokemon. The background was for something I was working on but scrapped I went and finished it up and then put the two together I think it came out alright.

here's a work in progress thingy

Looks cool, I love the pose can't wait to see it finished.

Once again I seem to only be able to redraw my avatar character over and over again, but here's something I whipped up today.

Nice piece, I'm getting a Wild Arms 3 vibe from this lol.

This is how I spent my day yesterday:

These are really cool, they look great.

Finally done with this:

One on hand, I kind of prefer the flats version, on the other, I just ain't happy with it >.>

Nice to see you finished it. I like them both and I think they both have nice features. The one you posted earlier in the thread was probably my favourite version, the shading a colouring had a nice balance.
What exactly are you unhappy with the pieces? I mean if I had to give an opinion on the flat one, I really like the thick black ink look on the arm and I think pushing that a little more through the piece could look really nice.

Here is a good example of that:

http://behindthepanels.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/GrindhouseDriveIn03Franc.jpg

Either way it's a nice piece and I look forward to seeing some more stuff.

I'm just disappointed, and frustrated, with how incredibly inconsistent I am. I know I can do better and have done better. As for this drawing, not happy with how the face came out, the features and hands, and how it just screams amateur compared to what I was trying to emulate. That and backgrounds being my natural enemy, I just fudged a bunch of nonsense behind her rather than something proper.

^ You know you can do better so you shall do better again. There's nothing wrong with a bit of inconsistency. People constantly change and so will the things that we use to express that; you'll always be learning something new and that will inevitably show in your art!

I haven't been around for a while but this thread is still going on wonderfully! I did finish this today which I can show

kuramasi6p74.jpg

Commissioner wanted a picture of Kurama from YuYu Hakushou. I started watching that when i was a teen but never got too far...about 5 hours. I've been really frustrated with my lack of creativity so it's nice for something to come out alright.

I wouldn't worry too much and if anything you still learn something from each piece you do. I'm the exact same way as you word for word. Sometimes I'll start a piece and be right into it but nearing the end I lose focus or I've changed things from my original idea that I'm not really sure how to finish a piece off.

Honestly your pieces are good, the character looks cool, the pose is great. Take what you learned and the next piece will be even better now that you know what it is that you want to change. Every artist experiences this trust me it's not just you but just keep working hard, I look forward to seeing more of your work!.

1 hour?

Thanks man, I do love drawing some hands.

I forgot about this thing that I was doing where I was taking peoples characters and making them into silly boss enemies with stats.

So many unfulfilled promises... Anyway I thought I'd start them up again, it's good practice and they don't take too long. Also I like making up stats and special moves. A couple or hours or so.

7 hour mark, I think.. ...!

Then ran out of steam for today. 2-hours so far.

YAY! I did it!!!
_s2__wil___the_unwilling_and_world_weary_by_meibatsu-dafxl2u.png

In 8ish hours in total? Nice!! record!! A bit sloppy, but eh. :> He's an NPC and he is easy-going enough so he won't mind.

Anyway over the past week I set out to draw something every day in an effort to actually practice and maybe learn how colors work and I didn't actually realize this thread existed so big whoops on my part.

This was about thirty minutes today?
