Reading through these its amazes me how so many people still don't pay attention to bye weeks when drafting. Aaron Rodgers 2nd pick was so hard to do btw.

konex and frank with worse drafts than FPL. Get owned!

That's how I know this is bullshit. Yeah week 8 is brutal but I'll worry about that then

I vote reverse draft order myself.

PS still kicking myself for not reaching for a QB a hair earlier. Palmer and Schaub are my two QBs right now. Gross.

Clearly I've been wasting my time the past few summers prepping for drafts in advance.
When all it takes is a single day to prep to draft a competent team.

Why didn't somebody tell me earlier I was over-preparing?

So ugh.... Shane Vereen... for my rankings I had put all the players in separate columns and then moved them down.... I opened an old ranking sheet where I hadn't moved Vereen yet. Took him in the 7th in all three drafts I had yesterday definitely missed out on players I needed.

I think I would have noticed if they weren't all at the same time... that shit was hectic, but I'd definitely do it again. It was a lot of fun except when my picks lined up at the same time ha ha.

PS: Any more thoughts on waivers? In a league this deep, I think it's best to give struggling teams the first crack at the waiver wire...

I won't change any rules after Thursday so lemme know, If there's not consensus one way or the other, I'll put up a vote
1) Payout - More money to 1st and 2nd, basically what I indicated earlier.
2) Waiver Settings - FAAB is the way to go, you can use the current Weekly setting as the tiebreak.

For the following, this is a page containing all possible scoring settings

Ideas used in Previous Leagues
3) .5 Bonus for 40+ Passing/Rushing/Receiving TDs?
4) Bonuses for players who achieve certain milestones?:

Passing Yards: 1 points at 300 yards; 1.5 points at 350 yards; 2 points at 400 yards
Rushing Yards: 1 points at 100 yards; 1.5 points at 150 yards; 2 points at 200 yards
Reception Yards: 1 points at 100 yards; 1.5 points at 150 yards; 2 points at 200 yards

5) More Defensive Bonuses/Penalties:
Three and Outs Forced: .2
Safety: -5
Points Allowed 28-34 points: -2
Points Allowed 35+ points: -5

Scoring changes post-draft are a cardinal no-no even in free leagues.
People base their draft selections off the settings that are in place at the time they're drafting.
Changing things up after the fact - especially in a league with minimal waiver wire depth - doesn't afford owners the opportunity to make adjustments based on introduced changes.

Not like anything I proposed is predicative. Would you draft differently based on Three and outs and a higher Safety point increase? Or 40+TD throws/runs? You can't really predict that, this isn't PPR here.

FYI, these changes were proposed almost 3 weeks before the draft. No one really bothered to respond then, decided to repost it when I figured people would be around.
Me either.

I'd prefer FAAB, but I'm not concerned if we don't switch.
... I don't get this. It was at FAAB, Cloudy changed it the night before the draft.

Umm that's not true. All changes can clearly be seen on the site. Fact is, no one brought that up in this thread till now

Talk of scoring changes post-draft? What kind of mickey mouse operation is this? Konex has failed in his duty as Commish! I shall be bringing impeachment proceedings against him!

No scoring changes. Possibly waivers and divisions (I turned it off when 2 people dropped cos it was screwing up the schedules)

I vote to minimize any changes post draft

1. No scoring changes
2. No problem with waivers been weekly rolling based on standings
3. No preference with one vs two divisions
4. Payouts should either be:

1st - $480
2nd - $290
3rd - $190
4th - $80

or

1st $540
2nd $300
3rd $200

I like 4th getting money back. That means you won a playoff game.

I also prefer not to do divisions post draft because some assessments can be made about each team post draft and aligning divisions at that point doesn't seem entirely fair.

Cross posting from other thread:

If anyone needs a last second spot filled.... or if enough people want to start a league real quick.... I'd be interested.

We could draft tomorrow night, or Tonight.

I'd be willing to pay up to $20 per person. At least 10 person league.

Neogaf golf thread fantasy football? I'd be down. Sadly, I don't think people could be cobbled together on such short notice.

LOL. Yeah that'd be awesome.

Hey, we got two people already, lets see how tonight goes. Even something like a 10-person, $10 buy-in would be fine.

The divisions won't affect anything other than top 2 seeds and all teams will be re-seeded for the playoffs. The reason I turned it off when folks dropped was because it was making it so people played each other more than once.

Well if it doesn't affect anything then i still think its best to leave it as is.

It affects the top 2 seeds (who would make the playoffs anyway) and we agreed to it already. It was ONLY disabled so the schedule wouldn't be screwed up with 2 dropouts..

I'm not even sure I can turn it back on at this point but we'll see :p

PS: My thoughts on waivers and payouts...

With reverse draft order, it penalizes the teams that drafted early regardless of injuries and other bad luck. With a shallow FA pool, I don't get the resistance to letting the doormat teams pick first to keep them invested in the league.

I'd also rather leave the payout the way it is. I know we have some new folks this year but the league is called, "No Quitters" for a reason. The whole point was to make it so that no one felt like giving up halfway through and ruining it for the rest of us. Most of the rules/settings (payout included) were initially designed with that in mind. It seems some have lost track of that *sigh*

Update: Turning on divisions still puts an opponent on your schedule more than once (it didn't do that till 2 folks dropped out) so we won't be using it..

"Have you ever noticed that Gatorade doesn't work on players that suck?"

We haven't had a quitter since season 2, and payout wasn't the reason, it was for personal reasons. In fact, one of the few things people
other than me
did express their feeling on was for a higher payout.

I think we should go with the 4 place payout structure. With 8 teams making the playoffs that means 4 teams will win a playoff game - they should be awarded.

How bout payouts? I don't think I've seen the final numbers yet.

For reasons stated above, I'd very much prefer the same as last year if the only changes are skewing it even more to the overall winner

Last Year:

$440
$300
$200
$100

My Preference:

$410
$310
$210
$110

Frankman:

$1000
$20
$10
$10

Of the ones proposed I'd prefer:

1st - 480
2nd - 290
3rd - 190
4th - 80

or even;

1st - 1000
2nd - 20
3rd - 10
4th - 10

The latter distributes enough money for 2nd through 4th to drink away the loss. Second place needs more because they were so close to a grand.

This works for me, thanks.
See, Frankman? People like getting rewarded handsomely for losing their last two playoff games and finishing 4th.
Everyone wants that precious $100 for finishing 4th and for first-place to not even to get 50% of the total pot (even though that's a customary standard for most money leagues).
Which should suit you fine seeing how finishing 4th would be a huge accomplishment for you after your recent finishes of and 7th, 7th, 14th and 6th in Years 1-4.

Me, personally? The shame of finishing 4th after coming so close to achieving greatness is overwhelming. I ought to know... I finished 4th in 2011. Was it nice getting a little bit more than my original buy-in back? I suppose. But, in retrospect, I can tell you that I don't remember a single cent that I won above my buy-in... and certainly felt that I didn't deserve anything more than that.

Not saying anything I didn't in years 1-4. Get an original thought in your brain, you clown!
