Do it man. This is my fourth year attending this Festival and it gets better every year. People are friendly and the Leicester is awesome.
It has a great line-up this year thats for sure.

Listening to a band called QTY from New York recently since they appeared in my Discover Weekly playlist. Give them a listen GAF, they have a few singles out.
I'm now halfway through the new Guided by Voices album (August by Cake) and it's their absolute best since 2010 (I know they broke up and changed their lineup, but whatevs)...

man the Silver Jews are so good but I barely know them. I only have two of their records and their stuff isn't on streaming services.

I hadn't listened to anything by them since they 'reformed' the second time, but these sound good, as did the song they posted on their Facebook page when they released it. I'll give it a go.
I'd go as far as saying this is probably one of their best lineups ever... Doug Gillard is just so incredibly talented. His collab with Bob on ESP Ohio is also worth listening to.
Sigh. If only they'd do a tour in Europe.

I've loved them for years, and the only chance i've ever had to see them was when they played the Leeds festival in 2002. Unfortunately I didn't get into them until later on that year, so I was watching the Dandy fucking Warhols, who were terrible live. I'm filled with so much regret.

Damn they were right. Twin Peaks is an amazing live band! The crowd was going ballistic, myself included. I know they're releasing a live album soon so I'll be on the lookout for that.

I love GBV and Bob is a songwriting hero, but I get pissed off that Robert calls it GBV with whatever random group of people he assembles. To me, GBV isn't GBV without Tobin Sprout and Mitch Mitchell. It's like if John Lennon had called his solo records Beatles records. It's just not the same.

I wouldn't quite say that since Gillard era GBV is so good! It's an important part of the band's history! I get what you mean though, he doesn't really have any rhyme or reason for what project he puts out under what name. Like last year's Please Be Honest (which was very good!) was basically a Bob solo record but he decided to put it out as a GBV album for some reason. I think he might put stuff out under the GBV banner just because he knows it'll get more attention than releasing it as a side project with a silly name. It's best to consider them more of a collective around Bob rather than a band with strict members I suppose.
This new album has several songs Bob didn't write though, which is pretty cool. It feels more like a "band" with this one. He let the reigns off a bit since it's a double album.

Hadn't heard any of these bands (besides Slowdive of course).
- Priests, the singer sounds like Kathleen Hanna is a big inspiration. She has that Bikini Kill thing down. The music itself is kinda whatever.
- IDLES is pretty good. They actually have shit to say, rare these days. From what I've heard I feel like their music is a bit ungrounded though, sonically speaking. But that's true of a lot of modern records that are mastered for the streaming generation.
- Bayonne. Fuckin dream pop, again with bad production. Next.
- Slowdive, holy shit. Shoegaze is back. Good track.
- Dr. Dog. Hm, a bit of a poor man's Wilco mixed with a bit of M. Ward. Middle of the road.
I ordered the import off cdjapan after hearing them. Haven't done that in a looooooooong time, but I love Mew.
