Upon first listen the new Father John Misty is a crushing bore.
Damn really? I thought it was amazing.
Also loved All American Bada$$ and a some singles from other albums that came out this week (shoutout to Harry Styles I didn't expect that)

Really?
I found it to be a wonderful record with big touches on Elton John and Billy Joel.

Woah, that Sunday lineup is pretty tempting.
You'd dig the new century palm recordI like the Diet Cig album. Anything else similar that's come out lately? I haven't been keeping up. Catchy shit basically.
I'm now halfway through the new Guided by Voices album (August by Cake) and it's their absolute best since 2010 (I know they broke up and changed their lineup, but whatevs)...

I'm a bit out of the loop with 2017 music. What are peoples favourites so far from this year?

The new Guided By Voices album August By Cake is nice. It's Robert Pollard's 100th LP so it seems he put a bit of work into it. It's also his first double album. Worth checking out if you're a GBV fan.
I'd go as far as saying this is probably one of their best lineups ever... Doug Gillard is just so incredibly talented. His collab with Bob on ESP Ohio is also worth listening to.
Sigh. If only they'd do a tour in Europe.

Thanks! I'm really enjoying Idle's Brutalism. Haven't listened to loud aggressive music in ages, so nice change of pace.

I love GBV and Bob is a songwriting hero, but I get pissed off that Robert calls it GBV with whatever random group of people he assembles. To me, GBV isn't GBV without Tobin Sprout and Mitch Mitchell. It's like if John Lennon had called his solo records Beatles records. It's just not the same.
You can stream the new (and their last sad face ) Wall Album '' Untitled''

Can any of you lovely people recommend some music to someone who's currently really digging The Menzingers, PUP and Turnover? I've been turned on to Daisyhead by a pal of mine, but any other suggestions would be very welcome!
