Damn, the album Daughter just put out as a soundtrack to the new Life is Strange game had a few instances where I had tears streaming down my face. Really evocative and a great listen.
Also loving the new LCD LP, how do you sleep? is definitely a standout LCD track. Missed out on tickets due to ticketmaster fucking up my order but looking forward to seeing them next summer on the festival circuit.

Went back to BSS after I got tix. Great comeback, super excited to see them in a few weeks.

The (barebones) thread I made when The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness came out got a fair amount of posts, and the thread for Trouble Will Find Me made it to five pages, so I'm not sure a general National OT is needed because of a lack of activity.
It's hard enough trying to resist listening to the leak before the album comes out, and now you gotta say this. Hype is in overdrive now.

Saw Deerhoof for the fourth time last night. Like always they were absolutely incredible. Amazing setlist with some songs I haven't heard them play before. Was finally glad to hear Spirit Ditties of No Tone and Twin Killers from The Runners Four. Also Polly Bee! That track is super old.

Had totally missed that The War on Drugs had released their new album now.
Listening to it now and it sounds goood. Has not missed a beat since Lost in the Dream.

Listened to those songs you mentioned, and I really like them. Any rec on an album to start with from Deerhoof? Never heard of the band before now.

I was always partial to Runner's Four, Apple O and Reveille.
Well you might as well start with The Runners Four since Twin Killers and Spirit Ditties of No Tone are on it. Polly Bee is from their very experimental debut album and is probably the only good song from it because it sounds like what they would start doing in the future haha. I'm a big ass fan boy and like all their albums onwards starting from Reveille. Their most direct rock albums are probably Runners Four, Offend Maggie, La Isla Bonita and last years The Magic. Reveille, Milkman, and Friend Opportunity are classic but maybe a bit too weird to start off with haha.
Edit: Yeah the two St Vincent singles aren't so promising. Lacking the quirkiness of her earlier stuff.

It is really good imho. Different and a bit groovy. Musically it is pretty diverse and I love that they are moving forward and exploring new sounds, but still has that distinctive sound of U2.
I really like the new Alvvays. and I think it's totally different from the first album, especially beyond the singles/first 3 songs on the album. Much faster tempos, new wavey in-your-face synths, a few super noisy guitars, actual solos.
"Saved by a Waif" is a standout, wow that song is good.

The new Deerhoof album is pretty damn good. It's kind of strange to hear all these guest vocals, but it mostly works. Juana Molina's collab is definitely the best, as I expected. Really like Mountain Moves (the song) too, love the jazz influence.
Deerhoof is always a strange band for me though. I really appreciate their creative ideas and the craft that goes into the songs and the production, but they never have songs that I listen to over and over. In terms of song strength though, Mountain Moves is probably their best record to date.

New Alvvays is solid. Lacks something as magic the Patry Police - Dives - Atop a cake run from their debut but it's probably the better album.

I think it is ok. I like the first 8 songs but the second half of the album is a bit patchy in my opinion. I was a big fan of last years The Magic and that collaborative album they did with that contemporary composer. They've been really prolific lately so it's not too disappointing given the amount of great content they've released in the past 12 months or so. I do really love I Will Spite Survive, that song is a killer.

The Magic is pretty good, but feels disjointed to me as an album, which you could probably say for several of their albums, but the stylistic palette of Magic in particular feels kinda all over the place. The songs on Mountain Moves -- despite all the guest vocalists -- feel like they belong together.

I think there is raw kind of energy that runs through The Magic that gives it a cohesive vibe despite all the style changes. Although you could probably do a few trimmings on the album, like John's hair metal song.
They are really good live, saw them at Handmade. Considering listening to their new album despite me not liking their debut that much.
I love Alex Cameron. He has two albums now and they are both GREAT.
I think I still prefer his first album as it felt more weird/experimental but still poppy. His new album feels like a straight up catchy as hell 80s pop album to me.
