I've listened to it about 6 times now, and I'm really happy with what they've pulled off. It's not often a band returns at their age and matches their past works. Hyped for the tour even more now.
You going to the London gig? I am considering it if its not sold out (I believe there is some tickets left)
Yep, I'm going to the Saturday one.
Know that I think about it, I am spending £50 on Jagwar Ma + Orbital, so LCD is beyond my spending ability atm
Hope to see them in a festival next year
How about a line from Turtleneck (but sincere in this case):Not sure if the thread I'm making for Sleep Well Beast should be an |OT|, given that the thread for Trouble Will Find Me wasn't. That and I can't think of a clever |OT| title. Open to suggestions though.

Went back to the latest BSS it has grown on me tremendously.
If you don't think it would get many posts, maybe do a general National OT?
Btw it leaked
Went back to BSS after I got tix. Great comeback, super excited to see them in a few weeks.
I'll Still Destroy You off the new National is taking over my life atm. One of their best for sure.

The genius we've been waiting years for
As far as OT titles go my first inclination would be "maybe I listen more then you think"
Saw Deerhoof for the fourth time last night. Like always they were absolutely incredible. Amazing setlist with some songs I haven't heard them play before. Was finally glad to hear Spirit Ditties of No Tone and Twin Killers from The Runners Four. Also Polly Bee! That track is super old.
Listened to those songs you mentioned, and I really like them. Any rec on an album to start with from Deerhoof? Never heard of the band before now.

The new Deerhoof album is pretty damn good. It's kind of strange to hear all these guest vocals, but it mostly works. Juana Molina's collab is definitely the best, as I expected. Really like Mountain Moves (the song) too, love the jazz influence.
Deerhoof is always a strange band for me though. I really appreciate their creative ideas and the craft that goes into the songs and the production, but they never have songs that I listen to over and over. In terms of song strength though, Mountain Moves is probably their best record to date.
I think it is ok. I like the first 8 songs but the second half of the album is a bit patchy in my opinion. I was a big fan of last years The Magic and that collaborative album they did with that contemporary composer. They've been really prolific lately so it's not too disappointing given the amount of great content they've released in the past 12 months or so. I do really love I Will Spite Survive, that song is a killer.
The Magic is pretty good, but feels disjointed to me as an album, which you could probably say for several of their albums, but the stylistic palette of Magic in particular feels kinda all over the place. The songs on Mountain Moves -- despite all the guest vocalists -- feel like they belong together.
new Nothing But Thieves is great.
can't wait to see them next month.
