Fresh from the bakery:

I did Taekwondo for 11 years and made it up to 2nd Dan before going off to college, and recently I've been wanting to get back into it, thought I'd pick this up; it's basically a history of TKD and it's associated philosophies. It's been four years since I've done any at all, so I'm a tad rusty.

My grandfather is a well known Spanish journalist that covered news in USA during the 60's and 70's.

Due to all the contacts he made, somehow he was invited to the re-launching of the original Star Wars trilogy. For each person who attended the event a very special gift was given: an original frame os the original movie, set in a collector's edition.

Now years have passed and he has given me me this precious unique piece.

Sorry for the crappy 3Gs pics.

I also have an original picture of Earth taken from the Moon during the Apollo XI mission that NASA gave to the press .

Just paid a visit to the local japanese product shop. It's a little far and it's expensive but at least you're surely getting the real stuff and not just chinese low quality look-alikes. Not really the ideal place to do your everyday shopping unless you're drowning on money :p

From left to right:
- Concentrated curry stock cubes (mid hot)
- Udon noodles
- Grape Soda
- Soy Sauce
- Melon Soda
- Yakisoba noodles
- Cup noodles
- Apple candies
- Yakisoba sauce
- Panko (japanese-style breadcrumbs for deep-frying)

First time in the pickup post! Apologies for all the pics.

Square Enix members reward, if you can call it that :p Only made silver status this year.

Such a nice collector's guide. Augmented edition isn't too bad either.
chnEul.jpg

Random hodge podge of guides I grabbed at my local Borders (RIP). Admittedly I won't use them much, but they were super cheap.
PXzFAl.jpg

Catching up on Curb. Best Buy had all seasons on sale. And grabbed Bridesmaids for movie night.

It was oddly fun hunting down sealed copies of the premium editions for decent prices.

Because I am a sucker for Assassin's Creed. And who doesn't want an action figure of Niccolo Machiavelli?!

Can never get enough of Leon's quips. "Your right hand comes off?" gets me every time.

And last but not least.....

I don't understand why you'd intricately sculpt a million little details onto something like that Doom statue but then use real cloth for the cape instead of sculpting that part as well. A tiny piece of cloth on a statue doesn't fall anywhere near the same way as it would on a full-size person, really betrays the realism of the rest of the piece. Looks like he's wearing a dinner napkin.

The cape and tunic are made of cloth because the statue is part of a line of mixed media sculptures called Premium Format. In addition to the tunic and cloth being mixed media, the belt is made of leather and metal, and the gold tie that holds the cape in place is an elastic band.

I have a few other premium format statues including Hitman (from the games), Wolverine, Gambit, Cyclops, Gollum, Spider-Man, and Bucky Barnes as Captain America.

BestBuy carried 1 and 2 but refuses to carry 3. I hate best buy with a passion!

So lame. They seem to be the reason that Funi is putting out DVD sized Bluray keepcases on new releases too.

I'm actually weary of how that Splinter Cell Collection is because I heard it was ported horribly much like the Prince of Persia Collection. Is it good?

I haven't had a chance to play SC yet but I heard the PSN versions had some issues. I decided to take a risk since I'm a stealth game fan.

I'm actually playing through the disc-based Prince of Persia collection right now and it doesn't seem to have a lot of the problems that plagued the PSN versions. I've played through Sands of Time (2x) and Warrior Within (3x) so far for platinums and only had one freeze. I did hit a game breaking glitch in my second playthrough of Warrior Within, but they give you a liberal amount of saves slots, so I only lost a few minutes after finding a safe one to reload. Although the audio is definitely still messed up.

My pick-ups, part 2:

Ico/Shadow of the Colossus collection doesn't have a reversible cover for Canadians. Disappoint, but I'll probably end up printing one of the awesome custom ones here.

Pretty happy to still be able to nab a Leafs cover for NHL 12 at Gamestop by Yonge and Dundas in Toronto. One of their employees was nice enough to give me a cover despite not buying my copy there, though I told him I did buy it at an EB Games near my place.

Brightest Day Volume 3 was free. My job gives us $5 coupons to put in our employee gift cards for any positive comments we get, or if we do anything "above and beyond" our expectations. I collected them in the span of the year.

Picked up Just Cause 2, No More Heroes, Source Code and The Adjustment Bureau from Blockbuster's closing sale. Going to do a last check at the two near me before they close down at the end of the week. The Adjustment Bureau wasn't actually $19.99.
