Curses!

This is not the time to be living in the ass end of Europe with its stingy corporate-controlled boutiques.

Humbug.

Picked up some kits to add to the stash of models I probably will never have the time to build. Also got some photo etch sets for some of the ships but they aren't pictured. Torne is for the wife so she can record her shows.

Oh man, 7-11 Spec Gundam is awesome! :O

Eurogamer Expo 2011 pickups MEGAPOST time!

Shirts:

Minecraft & Official Eurogamer Expo shirt (I bought both of these)

Mass Effect shirt obtained by queueing to play the game, same with CounterStrike: GO shirt

Scanned a QR code outside the event to win the Uncharted shirt, bought the Assassin's Creed shirt

Got the Prey 2 shirt when queueing for the dev session, bought the Shadow of the Colossus shirt from Insert Coin

Got the Id Software shirt for going to their dev session, got the World of Tanks shirt for playing the game.

OnLive shirt was given out at the OnLive booth, the Saint's Row shirts weren't supposed to be given out (or so the staff said), but we managed to nag them into giving us a few between us :D

and here's the back of the Saint's Row one...

I also bought myself a Play Arts Kai Gabranth figure...

Here's some assorted swag-stuff I got:

A few bits the girlfriend picked up from one of the shops there:

and finally, the main prize of the weekend, a brand new, free console!

I think I did pretty well for myself this year! The only shirts that I know of that I didn't manage to blag were Skyrim (really wanted), Assassin's Creed (really wanted), Ghost Recon (don't really care) and PES 2011 (don't really care)

Also (the main thing), the weekend was an absolute blast - met some awesome people, including a few GAFers and played some funtastic games!

EDIT: Also, forgot to include the Resistance 3 shirt I got from the PS booth as I'm currently wearing it!

How is Garbanth? I usually don't collect PlayArts, but I may make an exception.

Pretty awesome, actually - very good looking and poseable - hopefully the first of many Play Arts Kai figures I'm gonna get!

...oh, actually second, I have the Deus Ex: HR one too :D

Excuse the blurriness, it looked fine on the camera screen.

Woah, are these different than the case file books?
Sorry it took so long to reply to this, I missed your post the last time I went through the thread.

But yeah, completely different. The Case Files have several short stories done by different artists, while this manga is more of an official release and there are only three stories within these two volumes. The first volume has Case 1 and the first half of Case 2, while Volume 2 has the second half of Case 2, and Case 3.

The format is also similar to those of the games. The first case is trial-only and has Phoenix defending Larry against Winston Payne, while the second case is more serious, has a full investigation scene, followed by a longer trial where Phoenix goes against Edgeworth. Haven't read the third case yet, but by the looks of it, it certainly seems to be "crazier", like most third cases in the games.

If you enjoyed the Case Files, you should definitely get these. They're WAY better.

Playing Goof Troop single player. You kinda doing it wrong. Co-op is the way to go for this game.
One of the best on the console.

It's the Dr. Doom Premium Format statue manufactured by Sideshow. It came out a very long time ago and is sold out. Your best bet is to try eBay.

And this is, in my opinion, a drop dead gorgeous piece of work. The detail on the figure and chair is mind blowing. It's a masterpiece. I've wanted this thing since the day it came out and I'm glad to finally have one!

Here are a couple more shots:

Holy shit you have a fuck ton of Steam games. Every single one of those is only in the D section, haha. And I thought my measly 44 games was something. (Edit: Except for Earth =P)

I don't understand why you'd intricately sculpt a million little details onto something like that Doom statue but then use real cloth for the cape instead of sculpting that part as well. A tiny piece of cloth on a statue doesn't fall anywhere near the same way as it would on a full-size person, really betrays the realism of the rest of the piece. Looks like he's wearing a dinner napkin.

I think the cloth cape makes the statue so much better. It adds a nice dimension on top of the outstanding sculpt. They hit it out of the park by just adding that beautiful touch.

Disagree. The cloth looks like a napkin. That being said, it's a gorgeous statue, and I would be very proud to own it, napkin cloak and all.

I just purchased this game i am excited to play it for the very first time and in HD just makes it that much better.

Question to all you guys? Am i missing out on 3D PS3 gaming? all these new games have it and i am wondering how much am i really missing out on?

i thought 1080p 46"inch was good enough but apparently I am still missing out.

That's a fucking dumb opinion that I don't agree with but to each their own I guess.

You can not agree with it but 'fucking dumb' is going a little far. Place a long cloth over a full-size chair and see if it juts out at a sharp 90-degree angle from the seat, or drapes and falls against the legs.

I agree the texture of actual material is a nice element in contrast to the sculplted bits, but a small bit of cloth just fundamentally can't do a convincing job of emulating the weighty flows and drapes of its full-size counterparts.

(Though I have seen some impressive work to alleviate the miniature problem via sewing bits of pliable pipe-cleaner wire into the seams and using that to increase the frequency and angles of folds.)

I don't think you're missing out, yet. Ive only played a few on my passive set, and so far SOCOM has had the best 3d. The newest motorstorm was nice from the demo. I wasn't impressed with black ops, or gears of war 3. And from what I hear Shadow of the Colossus has nice 3d effects.

Huge pickup month for me this time around! Just got back from Tokyo so I thought I'd show you guys my haul.

First up are some presents I bought my girlfriend who, sadly, couldn't accompany me on the trip
XNn07.jpg

Next are some presents I picked up for people who asked for stuff. I sincerely hope the girl who asked for "something Bleach related" can read Japanese!
qM6By.jpg

Now on to the good stuff. Here are a couple of mangas, a magazine and a graphic novel (buying a graphic novel before I fly is a usual routine thing for me)
vID8E.jpg

Whilst I was out in Shinjuku, I visited a beer hall ran by the Asahi brewery and loved it so much, I bought the T-shirt! Also here are some Count Dooku lightsaber chopsticks, a necklace given to me and Dream Theater's "A Dramatic Turn Of Events"
E5WcP.jpg

Lastly, here is my grabbings from the Tokyo Game Show. Such a great event, and I'm glad I flew halfway around the world to attend it. Shown are my Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary slime plushie, a deck of Dragon Quest playing cards, a Kingdom Hearts Oblivion keychain and the TGS Supporters Club T-shirt and pin badge my friend and I got upon arrival

Got this from Zavvi today. Ordered it Friday the 23rd. (Yes, this month). This is probably the fastest I've ever gotten something from Zavvi. Hopefully its not the last time they are this speedy, would be a nice change to their regular delivery times...

From left to right; 7bones Wasabi Tomorrow King from 3A, Popbot Big Beautiful Book Hardcover with slipcase and lastly Bastion OST signed.

More flavor close-up shot of Wasabi, my first Tomorrow King purchase from 3A. <3 him

Pretty nice light month for me, have another 3A figure on the way but he won't arrive till October at least. No gaming sadly for me this month, but with Dark Souls and Batman Arkham City on the way that'll change next month. As the holidays roll around, as holidays roll around~
