Not sure about these but I think you'd be surprised how many of them are genuine fans. I went to a local convention (Connecticon) and there were tons of Cosplay going on and I have to say that there were quite a few hot girls who were not being paid.X26 said:

I mean there are some fat nasty she-males as well but I'd say about 75% of the girls at these conventions look normal and about 10-15% look cute, pretty, or somewhat attractive. The majority of the guy nerds are some combination of fat, stinky, or messy.
