Netflix Bioshock Movie Adaptation Announced

When has a video game movie even been good? I won't hold my breath. What an ambitious game to take on though. This one will be easy for them to fuck up.
 
Netflix and whoever is doing a great job with Snowpiercer. This will essentially be that as Snowpiercer is dealing with almost the same content.

If it's live action it's guaranteed to suck.
If it's animated I guess there's a slight hope it might be ok.

They're getting better. Sonic was pretty good and then you got Wreck it Ralph and Free Guy.

The Witcher Netflix series is great. Technically, based on the books, but let's be honest, it wouldn't exist without the games and the show is influenced by the games.

There was a time when games based off movies or other licensed properties were horrible. But, that has completely turned around ever since Arkham Asylum.
 
Arcane was great so I don't understand the negativity for this with so few details. My expectations will plummet if this is live action though.

Edit: Witcher is decent but mostly carried by Henry as Geralt imo.

In my opinion Bioshock movie should be about one of the citizens of Rapture and see city's destruction through their eyes.

Main story of the game and it's twist is heavily rely on players playing the game, it just wouldn't work in movie format.

So no director and no cast and it's funded by Netflix.

Edit: I just saw what else the production company did and FUCK THEM. Live adaptation of Deathnote for Netflix as well.

They also got actors with pedigree to play lead roles. and found people who understand the story of SNOWPIERCER to craft the series around. I'm not holding my breath that they have managed to find someone who has played the games, understands what Levine and Co. were doing, and will be able to either make a good translation to the screen or put their own twist on it.

. . .more than likely, someone has seen the memes ("Look at this Tweet! We said the line!") or the visual aesthetic of the three games and thought "Oh that might be cool; let's get the right to this!"
 
can guarantee 100% that the protagonist will be a woman or people of color (or both ) and the villain will be a white man ( like the games )

Expect the absolute worst and hope for the best! I've little confidence that they will nail this. The whole point of the game was that it was the player going through the motions with Andrew Ryan. TV won't be able to replicate that in my opinion.

I was about to write "What does that mean?!" but I realised before I hit send you mean instead of Big Daddy lmao.

I thought you meant some of the cast would be fat for "body positivity", which is shorthand for "you aren't going to have major health concerns or eventually even die if you don't change your diet. You're just as healthy as a slim person with a normal diet, its just a different body shape and haters gonna hate" or you can shorten it to "lying to people to save their feelings" etc.
 
Abandon hope all ye who enter here. There truly is no future for the video-game-to-movie adaptation because Hollywood doesn't learn from the past mistakes.

Have you seen the leaked script from the Netflix Resident Evil series?! They were like "You think you've seen the worst adaptation ever? Hold my beer", its been taken offline at this point, so I can't find the full thing but here's one of the funnier excerpts:

I'm not joking when I say there was a laugh loud line basically every paragraph of the script, there so much weird "sexual comedy" as well, with a recurring zombie thats chasing one of the main characters that has a big floppy growth on its face and she calls him "dickface". I wish I was making any of that up, but I swear I'm not :messenger_tears_of_joy: you'll have to trust me because its not online anymore unfortunately.

I could recount a lot of it to you, but you'd probably go blind from laughter. Theres a giant zombie catapillar in it.
