new 1up(exxy) PDZ article.

Kabuki, I'm really disappointed in you. You missed a perfect opportunity at an alarmist topic title, and for that you should be ashamed.

I hope the rest of you at GAF are taking notes at how not to make a topic title.

The Edge article has it down for November release... maybe it'll be a launch title in the UK only (since that's where Rare is based and all).

I was going to post "xbots Now you choke on crow Exxy sez PDZ is for suckers"
but my bias and fear of bannage prevented that. Any mod is free to change title.

Anyways i was wondering what hints aboutt he release date has peter moore dropped?

With both the huge MS push for global simultaneous (close) console launch and the concept that this game will be the one, it wouldn't make any fucking sense to release it in Europe and not in the US.

I wonder if they are awear of Teamxbox's damage control. "It is worth clarifying that in this debug build many physics were turned off as well as the enemy AI." However, I'll take that statement with a grain of salt considering the source.

Seems all MS has been doing during these early screen shots or movies is damage control.

yea i applied for a team xbox account just so i could make a thread about how team xbox knew the physics were turned off and shit...did they ask rare or are they just assuming?

these kind of EA tactics really piss me off.

Wario - :P

I don't really get where people are getting PDZ h8t from the article...it's my most anticipated launch game.

How does Team Xbox know physics were turned off? Physics were turned off? That doesn't make any sense on a fundamental level. Plus, how does that change how the game looks! I buy the AI bit; the game's difficulty was probably turned down, but whatever. The game's not going to look fundamentally different because of physics; that's all in the details.

Kabuki - The release slip speculation comes from a G4 interview with Peter Moore where he mentioned PDZ couldn't be "confirmed" for launch but they were sure as hell trying. I recall similar comments from Moore recently, too, but I can't provide any prooftext for that off hand. :\

the AI and animations are worse then they are in PD64, so i think its safe to assume they arent done/turned down

yea thnx thats what i thought. I just hope rare adds blood splatter on walls and stuff cause i dont mind the hitman 2 style physics.

Maybe they had some kind of cheat enabled in the vids. We all know Goldeneye and PD had lots of cheats to unlock.
Not very likely but it is possible ;)

he is paid to quote fanboys on forums and offer his brillant analysis ? ... well not so brillant, it reads like a gamefaqs post actualy.

What do you expect? Most* videogame "journalists" are just glorified game geeks who'd never have a hope of getting an article published in any other sort of print/internet magazine.

*As in, not all. Edge for example, has some writers that actually have some journalistic ability

"When you eventually get to pick up PDZ from the shelves, you'll know that we've done everything we can to make a good game that we want to play ourselves, and the quality to be as high as we can possibly get it."

...but of course taking into account the limited development time of only about 5 years

Aye. You're right there, MS will be trying for a simultaneous drop for PDZ for both UK and US launches -- they wont care about it slipping for the Japanese launch, but UK and US dates it's hugely important.

The Edge date is misleading people simply because they're forgetting that article was written weeks ago. The IGN article and this one are more up-to-date and thus more likely to be true.

Edge would have changed the date on its article had it not gone to press before the slip was mooted.

1up should just stick with their covers instead of putting out news articles like this. :lol
The problem is it comes off as a pessimistic rant rather than a newsworthy piece. I've noticed this with alot of articles by certain 1up authors but not all.

Regardless, keep it up exxy.

Reduced Perfect Dark Functionality?

An article in the November issue of Edge magazine has revealed that the fifty-player online multiplayer mode promised for Perfect Dark Zero has been scaled down to only 32. While still impressive, the news is a little disappointing. Rare has also had to remove the DataDyne TV mode which would have allowed players to watch games and upload your best matches. The cutbacks have had to be made to get the game ready for the Xbox 360 launch... According to Rare the fifty-player online mode and the TV mode could both be added via a download over Xbox Live.

Is this old? Thoughts? I was anticipating really large matches with scalable maps myself, so it's somewhat disappointing, though I don't really know if DataDyne TV would be that entertaining. It would also seem to nerf this for the Core System, as unless I misunderstand the architecture, downloaded updates wouldn't work for a hard driveless system.

Anyone trying to go online with just the Core System is going to find themselves severely hampered, no matter what game. No downloadable content. No updates or patches.
