This story reminded me of a time when my dad told me a story about what his mom said before he got married. He was 20, still living at home and it was a week before the ceremony. He was getting ready to go out and his mom came into the room and leaned up against the doorway and asked him if he thought he was making a mistake. My grandma loves and has always loved my mom, but she had her reasons. My dad told me that in retrospect maybe it was, that he was in love with my mom at the time, but that the reasons for getting married weren't that clear. He replied with "If I don't go now, I don't think I ever will."
He said to me "That at the time the question made him very angry..." and he sort of got all misty-eyed and trailed off.
