Lol Christ, we're back to the Gal Gadot isn't big enough posts.

Everyone knows that New 52 Wonder Woman is a oh so massive.

Charlize Theron was just in a movie that many consider to be the best Action Film in about 25 years, and she is considered by most of those people to be the best action film character since Ellen fucking Ripley in ALIENS.

If we can somehow buy the fact that Charlize Theron can legitimately whip the shit out of Tom Hardy (with one goddamn arm) I don't see why it's such a problem to imagine how Zack Snyder will shoot Gal Gadot to look like she's actually putting a hurt on people.

Why not, he made the girls in Suckerpunch pretty strong and killer.

Too bad the rest of the movie is garage

"Hey Zack, how many Oscars do you have again?"

Yeah. Say what you will about the film itself, it's not as if the action sequences constructed around 105-125 pound women unleashing unholy amounts of asswhipping were lacking for visual punch.

She's got superpowers. She doesn't need to be jacked, same way Spidey doesn't.

Looks like they're going for this WW.

After playing AK, I can't help but be underwhelmed by the batsuit. The armor suit in AK would have been dope in this movie

But then Snyder couldn't fellate Frank Miller's work again.

Except someone with a willowy frame fighting hulking brutes has looked fucking ridiculous for a long time.

The stereotypical supermodel build on a superpowered heroine is goddamn old and played out.

It's not believable. It looks ridiculous. It needs to end.

Gadot's tiny ass frame is only reinforcing that singular body type that superheroines are allowed to have (by a large margin).

Gadot is doing the old "tilt head down look up menacingly pose". Not feeling her still, but I hope to be surprised. No hope for Eisenberg though.

Superman shouldn't be jacked either. I think that artists and fans just like the visual effect, but logically a character like that would be pretty thin.

No doubt. And I think that's partially why Reeve's Superman is still the go-to. I mean, there's a TON of other reasons (his performance, of course, the music, the quality of the first two films) but I think it's because he didn't look like some sort of HGH-fueled man-beast.

Like, this version of Superman, from Immonen's Secret Identity, looks perfect, to me.

That said, I'm a HUGE fan of how Cavill looks in his suit, and I think that suit is easily the best-looking of the live-action costumes.

I get that they're going for the more feminine ww, it just doesnt sit right with me though that the one in the movie is supposed to represent the princess of the Amazons. No snu snu.

The batsuit, like most movie batsuits, looks awkward in well lit publicity shots. Not surprising it's meant to be seen at night mostly.

Which reminds me that the WW design in this image was being thrown around as a thing some fans liked. Not exactly something that can be pulled off in film.
It totally could be pulled off in film, it would just look weird and awkward.

All you need is a human female with a muscular build.

There are plenty of women with muscular builds that are very much feminine and attractive.

I don't know why they can't be pulled off on film or would look weird and awkward.

In the image Diana is pretty much over 7 ft tall, which would be pretty hard to pull off unless some perspective mumbo jumbo is done :p

Again, this bullshit is put to rest by Charlize Theron kicking Tom Hardy's ass in the desert in one of the best action movies of the last 25 years.

Someone with a "willowy frame" fighting hulking dudes CAN look fucking great.

The problem isn't with the visuals. It's with your inability to imagine such a thing happening until someone shows you what it looks like first. You can't imagine Gal Gadot being front and center in an action scene as a superpowered being in a comic book movie fucking people up convincingly.

It'll probably be a lot easier for you when it's actually happening onscreen, though.

Like many people here....I'm still not sold on Gadot. I know there going for that cartoon streamline look but she is still too thin. And why is Luthor rocking Kurt Cobain hair LMAO? Was that is the comics cause I never read them.

Wonder Woman's strength comes from magic. She doesn't need to be huge.

Remember in Flashpoint when a Superman who looked like Christian Bale from the Machinist was still pretty much the most powerful being on the planet? Same sort of deal.

People bought Faora in Man of Steel, and that actress isn't exactly powerful looking in real life:

Just have Gadot's Wonder Woman take machine gun fire point blank without even flinching and people will get the point.

She did it with one arm.

Once again, like that Arkham City skin, proving Frank Miller's Batman design only works on paper :(

In my opinion of course

Charlize's frame is not the same as Gadot. Not even close.

Tiny, willowy, petite frames capable of immense physical strength is ridiculous. You cannot convince me otherwise. There are more petite strong superheroines than skinny strong dude superheroes by miles, it's a fucking fetish thing.

This is shit...

...when compared to this.

...At least if you're talking about someone that can actually defend themselves against someone twice their size.

If body/frame believably doesn't matter for women, then we shouldn't have cared when Brandon Routh was a skinny Superman. Stop with the fucking double standards.

Making Wonder Woman have another super slim supermodel build is bad for women. Why is it not ok for women to looks strong and be strong physically? It's garbage for the 90's ideal to be put back up on the pedestal with Wonder Woman as the model.

In the image Diana is pretty much over 7 ft tall, which would be pretty hard to pull off unless some perspective mumbo jumbo is done :p

Well, you could just make Supergirl short and cast Wonder Woman tall. No problem there. In a world where we can do Hobbits in a room together with an oversized Wizard and all the actors are the same height, I think we can make it happen. All of the super beatdowns would be mostly CG'd up anyways.

It's a fuckin' superhero movie, dude. She's got magical powers. I don't have to convince you of shit. The movie will do that. Or it won't. But your problem is with your lack of imagination, not Gal Gadot's body type.

That's Superman's mother, yo.

True, but that image is just fan art anyway. I'm not sure if there has been a "canon" height in the comics for Diana, but I assume that if there is it is Gal Gadot's height.

Also, my personal dislike for Gadot may seep into my opinion of her role in the film.

Hm.

Yeah no one really bought it with him.

Exactly this.

Her powers come from being a goddess/magic, not from doing sets at a gym and having whey powder. There are examples of buff WW from the comics, but typically she's not overly muscular. Linda Hamilton in T2 is human, so if she were slender she'd be weak. It's not comparable when talking about a superhero who has magical powers.

The actor they cast for Flash probably isn't the fastest man in the world, but I think it will be OK.

No one is asking anyone to be "overly muscular". Just look like you have muscles.

As for your smartass Flash example. The Flash equivalent for this would be if they cast a guy who didn't look like he could run a block.

Faora's actress had a much stronger looking build and she got her super strength from moving locations. So why did they have to cast Wonder Woman as the skinniest actress with an incredibly narrow frame?

WTF am I reading. Routh was not a small dude in Superman Returns.

"Put to rest" maybe in your mind. I thought it looked ridiculous in FR, especially with one hand missing. But sure, the movie had the whole feminism theme going for it. So Miller made it work.

Jessica Biel is a miracle of the universe. So is Antje Traue's face. Her chin alone gives her more presence than Gadot.

I wonder if people would have accepted Emilia Clarke as Wonder Woman. Maybe Ellen Page.

Hm.

Yeah no one really bought it with him.

Routh's body wasn't the problem with Returns.

Shit, I don't even remember it being a problem. Returns prolems are:

-Not enough action
-Creepy stalker moment
-Superbaby (and thus, Superdeadbeat)
-Lex Luthor, Real Estate Supervillain

Boom, done. Nobody (at least, nobody that I've ever seen) was bitching that they didn't believe he could lift that island 'cause he's too skinny looking. He's Superman.

Small as in compared to how he ought to look. Which is massive.

Which is what they nailed in Man of Steel.

Yeah I said the problem with Routh being Superman is that he didn't have the build for superman.

It wasn't a discussion about what was wrong with Returns so I have no idea why you bothered to write any of that.

Antje Traue was wearing armor for the majority of her scenes in MoS. However I get what you're getting at regarding WW magical abilities.

If they put her in a Wonder Woman outfit it would be way more convincing than Gadot.
