It's only just gone live so it's still in an early stage. With some time though, it'll become really popular, IMO. It's already got 200 members from all over the world (so it's not just predominantly British members). I thought I'd recommend it here because it's got very good prices (and it's in a free period now where there are NO auction fees) and it's got a very strong anti-piracy stance, which is very important (to me)

I know the person behind it (he has a website, and a games shop based near London) and I'm impressed with it so far, even though it's still at a very early stage. Technically it was only launched a week ago. Like I said it's still got free listing atm and there's no set date for when that will change. I've never liked eBay personally because of the blatant piracy, that won't happen here (if it does then it will be dealt with very quickly)

Fees on eBay are extortionate for cheap ass items so I'll give this a go for some bits and bobs during the free period. The proposed sellers fees look almost as bad as eBay though and even the hint of a listing fee when you have little traffic is cheeky.

The number of HK pirates selling GBA games on ebay.co.uk is absurd. eBay do fuck all about it too, guess they aren't bothered if they get their cut.

Not really. I have no connection to his business or the website. I only posted it because I thought people might be interested in it

It certainly looks good, I hope this takes off as the more options we have the better.

Ebays fee's are getting overwhelming and I would rather use a more specialised service that focuses and understands the items it sells instead of being an average majority rule for everything.

I'll try and spread the news where I can.

Not a bad "Buy It Now" price on Salamander Deluxe Pack for Saturn($37), but Elevator Action Returns is a little steep ($68). On Ebay, it's usually the other way around.

With the exception of GBA games, is there significant piracy on ebay?

There is normally quite a few on the Dreamcast area (which ebay never seem to remove when requested), Also the emulator and rom discs.

The arcade section has been frequently plauged by spam posts and rom discs, Win a fortune on fruit machines/ultimate guides particularly on ebay.co.uk.

Just look at the amount of garbage on this single page: http://video-games.listings.ebay.co.uk/Coin-Operated_W0QQfromZR4QQsacatZ3944QQsocmdZListingItemList

The main thing is ebay are seemingly turning a blind eye to it all and the pirate auctions are becoming more frequent, Instead they seem more interested in removing my auctions if I list an import game but mention it requires a boot disc or mod chip to run.

All I ever get is an automated reply which never really fits.

Nice idea, but until I can browse a category entirely, without having to dig into subcategories, I won't be using it. I just want to see ALL DS games, not browse via category. Nintendo DS > Games > Action - arrgh! Maybe when it's usable.. but until then. :(

This is great because it will mostly be used by the hardcore gamers, meaning that you'll have good condition items with boxes and manuals a lot of the time. Leave eBay to the casuals, I say. I hope this gets big.

I'm moving to the netherlands soon, I signed up and will try it when I get there.

It looks nice but it seems really over-categorised or something. I just wanted to see if I could see all DS games and I couldn't find a way to do that right away, without selecting "Action" or "Puzzle" or whatever other category. Half the time I have no idea what I'm looking for and just want to see everything.

yeah, thats heaps better. I won't be using it for a little while anyway. There is a jpn Touch kirby on there with the pink stylus.

They do allow PSP's for sale worldwide.

Come on people, Get pro active and start listing some items for sale. Don't sit on your arse waiting for other people to make the first move if everyone makes a concious effort to support the site then it will work.

If people just get complacent with ebay it'll be like the Dreamcast vs PS2 situation over again.

Make an effort, Give yourself another option.

I wouldn't say that people aren't bothered but it's a difficult situation. It does need the support of people worldwide though. It's become pretty big in the UK already with a ton of advertising and PR (there's now about 380 members from about 20 different countries) and stuff is getting put up for sale a lot more often now. There's also been some really nice items on there including a Christmas Seaman red DC on there now :o

There's still no fees though so I don't know what people are afraid of tbh. I've bought a few things on there already without a problem and started listing some stuff for sale. If people give it an opportunity then it's going to be huge, but it needs support from people all over the world

I don't sell games. Ever. So I can't help in that respect, but if I see something I like, I'll bid on it. I made an account a while ago.

Nice site! Nice to see it's getting quite a few hits already! :)

I put a Dreamcast game up for auction, I'll see how it fares listed in US currency. It seems to be UK-centric, but I had no problem setting up my auction just like I would at Ebay.

It only looks UK-Centric because the UK users have been happy to post auctions and the American guys haven't so far, It would be good if more US oriented people would use the site as it would benefit everyone in the long run.

Somebody lock this spam.

Why not post something constructive instead?

Nope, I just don't see the point in closing a topic about a site that could benefit many of us users here.

It would be totally counterproductive.

Get the fuck out.

People like you make me sick. Get the fuck out of my inbox, stop sending me advertisements via fax, stop calling me 20 times a day trying to sell me something, and stop leaving automated advertisements on my answering machine to listen to when I get home.

Fucking lock and ban heh.

I don't actually have a homepage of my own, And simply put the site in my links yesterday. Im sorry its offended you so much.

You must like the site a lot. Come to think of it, maybe I'll put an amazon.com link as my homepage. They sure are great! :lol

Seriously, take your garbage advertising somewhere else.

You are being an immature idiot of the highest order, Can't you find something better to do than go around being a forum Nazi pushing your faux justification on everyone?

I seriously have no affiliation or link to the site at all but simply appreciate what they are doing.

Yeah, but will your site make my penis bigger?

Sooooo, why it set as your homepage when someone clicks on your profile?

VGA is really taking off, some awesome items on there IMO. There's talk of a US Press campaign starting very soon.

As for having the url in your profile, why is that a problem, dont people have links to all sorts of sites and they dont necessarily own them.

I dont understand why you would need to swear and also have no idea why it matters if this is my first post. Everyone has to have a first post somewhere. The original poster has no links to the site whatsoever, I do but then I didn't start the thread.

These forums are for gamers to discuss gaming, VGA is about gaming and is for gamers. If some find it a good alternative to Ebay or other sites then that must be of benefit to these forums and its' members. Plenty of other forums have picked this up and are happy to have it as a topic of discussion because it's games related. No one is trying to make sales, you dont have to pay for anything so I dont believe it is really spam (or any other food type come to think of it).

No one is posting links to their own auctions (that I've seen). The site has been receiving plenty of press at Games related news sites and forums the world over, so why would this one be any different.

I can only put it down to you being bored, but the swearing..lmao, the swearing. Maybe it's an age thing :lol

Infact looking back, you seem to be the only person with an issue, if admin felt this post was in bad taste or indeed spam then I am sure they would have locked it by now. If they do then that's their choice and people would respect that, what they wont respect is your limited vocabulary.

Thankyou :)

This has now be fixed :)

You just chose to post in a burried thread about some obscure new videogame auction site.

I can't say that I blame you for advertising here though, this is great exposure for you guys. And you didn't have to pay GAF for any adspace or anything.
